The Tribunal started on 25th April, witness testimony concluded on the 26th May. Closing arguments for council will be on the 20th June. I don't know if the existing links and pins will work. I will email nearer the time to check.

If you would like to view online you need to send a request for access.
Send an email to

[email protected]

The subject heading of the email request should read

“MEDIA OR PUBLIC ACCESS REQUEST – Case number 2202172/2020 - Ms A Bailey – 20th June 2022.

Then ask for the pin for the online access.

You will be contacted with instructions on how to observe the hearing.

When joining the live tribunal please choose a non inflammatory/offensive name, everyone can see it in the chat - This is a court room, please behave accordingly.

The court chat function is there for official court purposes, not for observers, please don't use it unless you have a technical issue.

On the first page underneath where you put your screen name, select the video and mic that are not crossed out (top option), this is the courts vid and mic.
On the next page select NONE on the drop down windows for vid and mic, these are your own video and mic.

You must be muted so as to not disturb the hearing.

Is it likely Maya’s ET will hold back its decision till after the closing arguments for this ET?

It appears that is what is happening.

Boiledbeetle · 04/06/2022 10:10

I'm aware that some of those posting on here, judging from some of the remarks, only identify as human but are in fact of the feline species.

I am also an equal opportunities snack provider so whilst we wait for the 20th June here's a little something to keep us all going.

Form an orderly queue behind@ickky who gets first choice as thread master extraordinaire (will it be a biscuit or dreamies??).

Full disclosure the crunch creams are about half eaten already. Sorry.

Anyone care to speculate about that? I've arguments running through my head as to whether that would be a positive or a negative (or possibly a neutral) decision - and who would have made it?

I think it’s possible.

My limited understanding is that a key element of Maya’s case is about her employment status/renewing her contract and whether or not the EA 2010 applies. From the arguments, that I struggled to follow, this is a really nuanced legal case and that alone could determine her case irrespective of whether or not she suffered discrimination.

crosstalk · 04/06/2022 13:04

Don't know about ETs but will the judge be limited in the remarks she can make? If the law is so nuanced in AB's case and she fails on the main count (which I understand was that she lost cases because GCC were briefing against her within chambers) can the judge say but ... And can you appeal?

Crazylazydayz · 04/06/2022 17:55

IANAL so I am struggling to explain. The cases are based on different employment/contractual relationships. Maya can lose on that point and so her discrimination claim is not then considered. I believe the ET could offer comment but could stay silent.

In ABs case there are 5 separate issues and the ET needs to decide on each. The ET could find 3 in favour of AB and 2 in favour of GCC/SW, or any combination. For each they will set out the underpinning legal basis and rationale for their decision. This is important as any appeal from either party is normally (but not always) based on interpretation of the legal basis.

I am sure one of the Lawyers on here will be able to explain it better.

Ooh, a new thread! <settles in and offers round the Lotus biscuits>

Can we stop talking about dunking things though? The idea of soggy biscuits or <boak> hot drinks with <boak> crumbs in makes me feel <boak> a bit <boak> queasy...

Only another week and a bit until Ben Cooper TV is back on in the CatsOp office.
As it’s Friday afternoon I’m idly pondering how bushy his beard is going to be…

Manderleyagain · 10/06/2022 17:17

CatsuOp what case is that?
