Depending on whether Disney is your sole purpose of the trip, or a tag on to a longer break, I’d recommend La Croix du Vieux Pont - a fantastic Eurocamp site in Berny Riviere, Paris. It is 1.5hours away by either car or train though.such a well equipped site and we’ve been there numerous times. Lots of accommodation options and very family friendly

Just 90 minutes from the centre of Paris and set around a peaceful lake, La Croix du Vieux Pont is a fantastic site for families of all ages.

I stayed with toddlers in tow and found plenty to do at this large holiday park in northern France. Swimming is a big deal here with four family-friendly pools, a lagoon beach and a brilliant splash park (our personal highlight). The indoor pool features a retractable roof in case the weather turns sour.

There's a range of accommodation options and we found our Classic cabin provided ample space for two families with its large deck and BBQ.

On-site activities include boating, climbing and fishing and there are outdoor and indoor soft play areas, and a kids' club that offers scheduled entertainment.

As it's quite a large site there are several dining options and we loved the laid-back pizzeria and the authentic French bakery for fresh bread in the morning.

We love this Eurocamp site for its array of indoor and outdoor activities and its close proximity to Paris and Disneyland Paris, making it ideal for family day trips.

We first did it when dd were 8 and 10 and it was perfect. La Vallee in Houlgate, Normandy is a short drive from Caen port. We didn’t go far or eat out much but really enjoyed the site, the pools and entertainment!

Reviewed by Mumsnet tester, Rebecca Warbis: read our in-depth review of Eurocamp La Vallée

Perfectly placed for exploring Normandy’s beaches and seaside towns, La Vallée is a lively, toddler-friendly site in Houlgate, just a 25-minute drive from the port of Caen.

It features excellent facilities including an indoor and an outdoor pool with waterslides making this site perfect for water babies. My four-year-old loved the fun jungle-themed splash park. The kids’ club sessions will keep children busy and entertained on days you need a break from the pools, and there are tennis courts, playgrounds and a crowd-pleasing bouncy castle.

We loved the spacious decking on our three-bedroom Premium holiday park and even though the twin bedrooms were on the small side, it worked well for our multi-generational trip of a toddler, parents and grandparents.

There's lots to do on site and plenty to see nearby, from the chic seaside town of Deauville to Festyland, a family-friendly theme park.

We have Eurocamped for 12 years now. For little ones, we've loved and returned a couple of times to both Camping Bel in the Vendee. We drove, but didn't need or use cars there at all. Prices drop drastically at the end of August so we used to go late. Very toddler/small child friendly. We stayed in tents at Bel. We found Eurocamp offers brilliant independence, in terms of self catering etc, but support from couriers, for example helping us rebook a cancelled ferry etc.

Our verdict

Bel Campsite is a small, family-run parc and compared to a lot of other Eurocamp sites, it’s peaceful and quiet. There’s a lovely pool area that’s great for younger kids, and a fantastic Scandinavian-style playground for them to play in too.

For older kids there are plenty of activities like tennis, table tennis, basketball, and a gym, as well as everything that’s offered as part of the kids’ club.

The closest town to the site is La Tranche Sur Mer, where you’ll find a large supermarket to stock up on supplies and a great variety of cafes and restaurants.

We went to Trinte Sur Mer, Camping de la Plage. Lots to do and great beaches for relaxing. Brittany is a good destination for little ones. We thought the Vendee was not so good and definitely prefer Brittany. We enjoyed Benodet too. It’s a lovely area.

For families with young children looking to enjoy a quieter, more peaceful camping experience near the sea, then La Plage Campsite is perfect.

Set in the gardens of a Breton farmhouse, the site offers a small pool with waterslides and a fun kids’ club with plenty of activities to keep them entertained in high season.

The main pull of this site though is its direct access to a sheltered sandy beach, with a shop, a takeaway, a bar and a restaurant with lovely sea views just a short walk away.

Holiday Marina is one of those Eurocamp Riviera parcs that you just can't help but love. It's run by a friendly English team and is incredibly pretty and  it's right next to a gorgeous sandy beach. The pool complex is small, with just two pools but this makes it perfect for young families and there is also a Jacuzzi that’s ideal for chilling out in. There's loads of fun stuff for everyone, like a lively kids’ club and all sorts of sports. Situated right by a beautiful marina, it's a great spot for exploring the Riviera. After a day of adventures, kick back with a cool drink on the bar’s terrace and soak in those stunning views. Les Ecureuils Eurocamp is a real gem and it's easy to see why everyone loves it. You’ve got miles of gorgeous sandy beaches on your doorstep and an incredible pool complex on site, so it’s perfect for water babies.

There are loads of family-friendly activities arranged by the owners and a newly-extended bar offering a great selection of French wine, beers, and fruity cocktails so you can relax in the evenings while the kids enjoy the disco.

And for something a bit different, why not give the aqua gym a go? You can also pick up some yummy regional goodies from the parc shop. Plus, if you're up for an adventure, the Puy du Fou theme park is just a hop, skip, and a jump away for a fun day trip.

La Garangeoire is a big hit with Mumsnetters thanks to its stunning location in the grounds of a chateau surrounded by woods, meadows, and lakes. You might want a car on this trip so you can easily make the 15-minute drive to the beach at Brétignolles sur Mer, but you could happily stay on site for the whole holiday and not get bored.

With a large pool complex, kids’ clubs, and outdoor activities like crazy golf, horse riding, karting, and trampolining there’s plenty to keep kids of all ages happy. Do Eurocamps in France have WiFi?

Eurocamps in France do have WiFi, but check the site you intend to visit for specifics. It may only be available in certain parts of the park and charges may apply.

Can you take dogs to Eurocamps in France?

Generally speaking yes, you can take dogs to Eurocamp sites in France. Check the individual site though. As an example, you can bring your dog along but it must be on a lead at all times at La Croix du Vieux Pont in Berny-Rivière.

What’s included in the price of a Eurocamp stay?

Your Eurocamp stay includes your accommodation, use of the kids’ clubs, and use of the on-site facilities including swimming pools, activities, and entertainment. Meals aren’t included so you’ll need to make your own food or head to the on-site restaurant. Duvets and pillows are generally provided but you’ll need to bring your own linens, or reserve them in advance for an additional fee.

What’s the best Eurocamp in France?

We think that the best Eurocamp site in France for families is La Croix de Vieux Pont in Berny-Rivière. It manages to mix all the best bits of a Eurocamp site with a great location close to Paris and Disneyland Paris and not too far from the Eurotunnel and the ferry port at Calais.

How we chose our recommendations

Because we know that there's nothing like a real recommendation from a fellow parent, we first headed to the Mumsnet holidays forum to find out which Eurocamp sites were being recommended for families.

We then did some research looking at which Eurocamp destinations had won accolades and what customer reviews said about them. We looked at on-site amenities, accommodation options and location. Having collated all that information, we then narrowed our list down to the best Eurocamp sites for families.
