When is Black Friday 2025?

This year, Black Friday is on 28 November 2025. It’s traditionally the Friday after Thanksgiving is celebrated in the US. However, it's well worth keeping an eye on retailer websites throughout the month of November as you'll often find deals, discounts and promo codes launching well before the day itself.

How to find the best Black Friday deals

It's easy to get lost in the onslaught of deals on Black Friday and to get sucked into thinking that everything is on sale. While there will absolutely be genuine deals on offer, it's well worth a few quick checks to make sure the discounts are as good as retailers claim. What is Black Friday?

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving (traditionally celebrated in the US), which happens on the third Thursday of November. Shops launch big deals and generally open earlier. These stores are often 'in the black' (profitable) on that day, hence the name.

Since Black Friday became more popular this side of the Atlantic, UK shops often launch their big deals weeks before the official Black Friday sale and they often go over the weekend after the official day.
