Bugger, just realised I'm concentrating so hard that I've sewn DS2's badge on the back of his cub jumper.

🤣

Lucky it's time for a break!

Ameanstreakamilewide · 25/05/2022 11:31

AH insinuating BC is waffling and his questions don't make sense.

EJG begs to differ.

I'm getting to the point that I want to march on Parliament with flaming torches. Not entirely what against yet.

Anyone with me?

What do we want?

Not sure. I just have a sinking feeling every time I listen to a certain type of expensively educated man.

When do we want it?

Yesterday.

starts making placard

His mode of delivery is sending me to sleep

Maybe that's the idea? 'Look into my eyes, not around my eyes, but into my eyes' etc etc. Or the snake in Jungle Book?

Ok, anyone know how to archive threads?

Check your inbox for instructions. These were posted for how to archive the old-style Mumsnet site. You would have to try them out to see if the new site works the same way.

Zeugma · 25/05/2022 11:32

EJG is brilliant at cutting to the nub of the matter. AH's face of befuddlement was a picture until she zeroed in and nailed the question.

Signalbox · 25/05/2022 11:32

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 25/05/2022 11:30

DdM could be a politician in terms of not answering a question.... except he doesn't have the charisma.

Keir Starmer has done quite well with zero charisma.

NancyDrawed · 25/05/2022 11:32

Mmmnotsure · 25/05/2022 11:16

DdM: I can't recall. Rinse and repeat.

DdM is speaking. so. slowly. he. is. going. to grind. to. a. complete. halt. soon.

All his energy is being taken up by his eyes.

I genuinely LOL'd at that

It's quite a sight to behold and I've only watched a tiny bit as I'm catching up with work on a different tab

Mmmnotsure · 25/05/2022 11:33

DdM says he has done careful analysis - of the 817 critical replies - responding to AB's launch tweet.

BC asks obvious question re corresponding analysis of the GCC response tweet.

DdM doesn't understand.

EJ has to ask DdM did you also do analysis of replies to GCC response tweet.

DR: no, I didn't

[Time passes.]

BC and EJ trying to get a simple response from DdM and finally succeed. AH QC still saying he doesn't understand the question.

Mollyollydolly · 25/05/2022 10:18

Thank you Ickky - maybe he does have some sense of self reflection then. He's certainly far less angry and aggressive today.

Maybe someone has had a word with him.

😂Iconic MN post!!

Ameanstreakamilewide · 25/05/2022 11:34

@WomensLandArmy

It can't be any dafter than when i recently tried to take up the hem in a pair of trousers.
I bought the Wonderweb stuff, watched a wee YT video of how to use it.
So far, so good.

But, no - the trousers weren't actually inside out. So i've basically ruined a decent pair of work trousers. 😩

WallaceinAnderland · 25/05/2022 11:34

I find it astonishing that some of the QCs and panel do not understand twitter. How can a QC defend if he doesn't understand and how can a panel make a judgement if they don't understand. It's central to the case, surely they should have been more informed. Also, can be that unusual in other cases.

CriticalCondition · 25/05/2022 11:34

EJ has understood how Twitter works following BC's EezyGuide explanation. AH hasn't.

There is an Ian Hislop in the room. Wonder if it's the real one.

Glorious sunlight.

New Eye has just come. Excellent front cover, but not had a chance to look inside yet.

Barbara Rich (barrister) has commented (in a limited capacity - she's always very restrained in her criticism but I picture her like this 🤨 when she does that) & what was said as part of evidence under oath might be privileged? So BSB may not take on complaints?

I have no clue tbh but found this at least interesting.

Link to tweet

Q asked: "I would be very interested to know if privilege of evidence notwithstanding, it is possible to ask the BSB to investigate some of the evidence given in this trial."

Barbara replies:

"I don’t know the answer. Evidence given in court is privileged against a defamation claim. If the BSB does agree to consider any of it in a regulatory complaint, I assume it will take its established approach to the exercise of freedom of speech by barristers and Core Duty 5"

It's reassuring that it's not just us casual observers who are all 'WTF' over this, but a fair number of actual barristers too.

And here's Martina Navratilova's take:

Link to tweet

"Cathryn McGahey is an idiot. And how about persuading a gay man to have sex with a trans man? Any takers?
Clearly Cathryn has no clue what the word Lesbian actually means"

I don't know if CM has any grasp on the shit storm she's created with her testimony today. When I listened to it, she seemed quite pleased with her analogy. Repeating it for emphasis & falling back on it to maintain her position that the Overcoming the Cotton Ceiling' workshop couldn't inherently be considered coercive.

I suspect this might rumble on a bit.

Oh, it will rumble on a bit.

"I have seen an excellent letter which a friend is sending to Temple Garden Chambers; and when adjusted, to The Bar Council complaining about Catherine McGahey driving a coach and horses through the PCs of Race, Sexual Orientation and Sex.

CM is obviously not fit to practice."

Keir Starmer is incredibly dynamic in comparison.

DDM Annual Review

Boss: Ah David, thanks for coming. So, are you on top of all the FaceTwit and InstaTok?

DDM: You betcha!

Boss: Excellent. Have a £50k bonus

DDM Smiles and leaves

You were obviously there!

f course, with you being a woman they won't have seen you sitting there in the room taking detailed notes.

There are benefits to being invisible. 😁

SpindleInTheWind · 25/05/2022 11:49

Oh god yes, I am so invisible now that recently my own DP walked past me in the supermarket without noticing.

I was wondering this - surely the Tribunal NEED to get a good understanding of the tech and the issues before the case starts? Surely to not do so is akin to having a burglary case and the parties have to explain the concept of personal property and theft to the judge during the course of the hearing?

SpindleInTheWind · 25/05/2022 11:49

We are nearly there.

The info on archiving is very useful.
