What was BC referring to earlier on with SW's 'attack on the Tribunal' (which received the response from EJ "We're thick skinned."?)
I skimmed through SW's closing submission but couldn't find it.

Glancing through their closing submission, there seemed to be a general threatening (to my reading) tone that the tribunal needs to be very careful not to make a wrong decision in this case, in that they have let AB get away with a lot in the context of the hearing because they are nervous about the subject matter.

TastefulRainbowUnicorn · 20/06/2022 15:01

I enjoyed Ben's tone of disdain referring to how GC were facing "lots of complicated issues and it was all very busy."

Feministwoman · 20/06/2022 15:02

BC highlighting that GCC tweeting AB was under investigation was outrageous.

No concern for her reputation or wellbeing shown, was there.

WomensLandArmy · 20/06/2022 15:05

Infantile i know, but I snigger every time someone says 'Shaan Knan'

There was a witness towards the end about which BC did say this. I think AH interjected with (more) righteous indignation and said "it seems like Mr Cooper is saying that the witness is lying" and BC replied "that is exactly what I am suggesting". Not sure on the direct quotes of others but that was def what BC said. Can anyone remember. Was it MB?

I do remember that - I can't remember who it was about though, which is highly irritating. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Might have to look back through the many threads!

Mmmnotsure · 20/06/2022 15:08

BC says it's explicit that KM was trying to get AB expelled and that KM agreed that was a possible result from his complaint.

That liability is unequivocal and Stonewall is bang to rights (he actually said that!) is KM's complaint.

Was it AB's room sharer, David Renton, who recorded her calls?

Have just caught up and am wondering what point was being made when referring to the collision with the bin. Surely if you’re driving, especially with children, you’re meant to be doing so with ‘due care and attention’ rather than taking part in work related calls? Shouldn’t barristers and judges, of all people, be careful to observe the law at all times, including when driving?

CriticalCondition · 20/06/2022 15:10

BC making clear that success of claim against GCC is not dependent on success of claim against SW. The two are distinct.

Boiledbeetle · 20/06/2022 15:10

He's making me all butterfliy in my stomach every time he says"induce".

Always heard here in Kenneth Williams' Carry On voice.

It was Michelle Brewer colliding with a bin whilst talking to SK.

The bin-cident was mentioned to explain why the events surrounding it, ie the telephone call, were so memorable to the witness.

I somehow haven't seen those parts , but while looking I just came across a paragraph which compares AB unfavourably, as a witness, to the Stonewall crew. And I feel like I need to lie down.

(Actually very surprised at the snide tone towards AB. You get the feeling it was written by a teenager. You'd think they'd at least try to look more reasonable and less like nasty bullies.)

CriticalCondition · 20/06/2022 15:13

This sums up my feeling about all the Stonewall people, the GCC people and their legal representatives. I'd also have thought they would all at least try to look somewhat competent, as well, but no.

That allowing this case at all is indulging AB's hostile political campaign against Stonewall.

I think. That's what I picked up but I was hanging out my washing at that point.

I think you might be right there.
It was a slippery witness, not MB as I didn't see their evidence, but I did see DR.

Pluvia · 20/06/2022 15:18

Maybe I'm biased, but BC seems to be calmly stacking up the many reasons why Stonewall and GCC were intertwined in a very persuasive way. Particularly the fact that they renewed their Stonewall Champion membership in the middle of it all, giving a clear indication to Allison that they were taking sides.

This is what I thought the summing up would be. Rational, joined-up thinking without histrionics.

That was the guy who was in charge of the GC twitter, he had a lot of details about the number of tweets in the twitter storm thread, but adamantly claimed that he hadn't seen any of the threatening tweets to Allison. I was so glad that Ben called him out so unequivocally. He doesn't waste a scrap on emotional posturing like AH does, but packs a whallop with a few well chosen words, delivered directly and matter-of-factly.
