Then ask for the pin for the online access.

When joining the live tribunal please choose a non inflammatory/offensive name, everyone can see it in the chat - This is a court room, please behave accordingly.

They were all supposed to have 1hr45.
Supposed to finish at 4pm I think.

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 20/06/2022 14:37

Bet AH is gutted though. He didn't really have much opportunity to consider what he could use his 5 minutes for and I bet Jane Russell had written a corking rhetorical flourish which will never now see the light of day.

If she likes we can get her in as a script consultant on the film and include a scene that cuts away to her pacing inconsolably as she says it out loud in a legal library where only the tomes will hear it.

Chrysanthemum5 · 20/06/2022 14:30

Wouldn't a judge (as MB is) k with not to lie?

There was a witness towards the end about which BC did say this. I think AH interjected with (more) righteous indignation and said "it seems like Mr Cooper is saying that the witness is lying" and BC replied "that is exactly what I am suggesting". Not sure on the direct quotes of others but that was def what BC said. Can anyone remember. Was it MB?

LipbalmOrKnickers · 20/06/2022 14:38

I think at the end then BC said five min break and then he'd go for an hour?

Posting without further comment.

Appalonia · 20/06/2022 14:38

Doesn't EJ have written submissions given to her? Can't believe she's having to write down all this twaddle...

crosstalk · 20/06/2022 14:39

While I'm waiting for screen to refresh (unless absolutely nothing is happening at the ET) shouldn't there be increasing demand for recording public cases?

I was at a complex hearing with the Rural Payments Agency. Our friend's barrister said he didn't need a stenographer. From what we recollected (my note taking is bad) the RPA had made a huge error. There was an appeal and either a court stenographer or recording would have made a lot of difference.

LipbalmOrKnickers · 20/06/2022 10:03

Ben's beard looks smaller than usual. Have the support wrens fledged already??

😂😂😂

nauticant · 20/06/2022 14:41

EJG will be making notes of things to ask or relevant things to think about in her deliberations Appalonia.

MythicalReasonableTwitterUser · 20/06/2022 14:41

At the beginning, didn't AH ask to reserve 10 minutes of his time to the end to answer BC's arguments? And didn't he just burn through at least 5 minutes of that?

TastefulRainbowUnicorn · 20/06/2022 14:42

Ben is going to cut through all this twaddle (crosses fingers).

It really was twaddle, it was impossible to pay much attention to. I wasn't there for IO but I gather she was even worse? And with much less excuse, it really shouldn't be difficult to make a compelling and concise "nothing to do with us, guv" argument for SW. AH has a much harder job and maybe more excuse for being such a snoozefest.

I have clearly watched too many courtroom movies. I was expecting the summing up to be the dramatic part! I wonder if BC is also going to bore.

dunBel · 20/06/2022 14:43

BC starting his response now.

dunBel · 20/06/2022 14:44

Poor EJG starting to go number blind I think.

TastefulRainbowUnicorn · 20/06/2022 14:46

high-handed, malicious, oppressive and insulting

well, I'm not bored so far. That was a great list of adjectives.

dunBel · 20/06/2022 14:47

Appalonia · 20/06/2022 14:38

Doesn't EJ have written submissions given to her? Can't believe she's having to write down all this twaddle...

She does, I think she's making notes about the points they're highlighting as important in their verbal submissions.

User237845 · 20/06/2022 14:47

Great point Ben - AH and IO argument illustrates general theme of case ie outrage at Allison's temerity. So true.

malloo · 20/06/2022 14:47

Such a breath of fresh air to listen to Ben, not just because I'm on that side but it is just clearly so much more coherent

IloveHolby · 20/06/2022 14:49

Oh dear I nodded off in AHs closing arguments. Awake and alert to listen to BC.

ickky · 20/06/2022 14:49

Hoping for a Dick Warlock mention.

OP posts:
dunBel · 20/06/2022 14:50

BC: "Garden Court has effectively sought to blame the claimant for getting abuse..." and "downplayed that abuse"

nauticant · 20/06/2022 14:52

Overall BC's argument has been that AB had been adversely affected in a number of ways and GCC were like "whatever". It seems slightly off-topic but I'm wondering whether this is a key determinant in employment tribunals, that an employer showing disregard can often be indicative.

tigertactics · 20/06/2022 14:53

Ben is such a refreshing drink of water. A drink of water with a pleasing beard.

Chrysanthemum5 · 20/06/2022 14:54

BC has highlighted something we've said all along - that GCC downplayed death threats to AB but blame their Twitter 'storm' for their hasty actions

nauticant · 20/06/2022 14:57

So far BC has been going after GCC but not after SW. To my mind that reflects how the case has gone overall and where there can be wins for AB.

TastefulRainbowUnicorn · 20/06/2022 14:58

What was BC referring to earlier on with SW's 'attack on the Tribunal' (which received the response from EJ "We're thick skinned."?)
I skimmed through SW's closing submission but couldn't find it.

LipbalmOrKnickers · 20/06/2022 14:59

Bloody hell, I got booted after 'temerity' and have only just got back in! Thanks for the updates all.
