and also

If you see me [in person], you’re in no doubt about my gender. But if you hear just my voice, I still sound quite male,

OK

'Gender' is a separate thing from sex though. Doesn't everyone understand that now? A person's preferred 'gender' and their sex is likely to be pretty obvious from looking at them. Whereas on the phone the superficial clues of gender aren't so apparent.

tabbycatstripy · 01/06/2022 07:41

I’m not sure, but it seems inexplicable to me.

Interesting that BC, IO and RMW all work for the same Chambers. A contrast to GCC that he is (clearly) able to go about his business without colleagues persecuting him, and so can IO/RMW. That’s tolerance.

Needmoresleep · 01/06/2022 09:29

Dearie, dearie me.

Needmoresleep · 01/06/2022 09:33

Chambers & Partners recognises Robin as a leading junior and is “always at hand to give excellent and detailed advice at short notice,” report satisfied customers. She “wins the confidence of the market”, “having gravitas which does not alienate the client” and as having “great analytical skills”.
She is said to be a “terrier in the tribunals” and a “calm but quietly effective” advocate whom clients appreciate for practical and flexible advice with “great tribunal presence” and “who’s cross-examination is wonderful to listen to”. She is “the go-to lawyer for trans cases”.

Wasn't it trans cases that GCC were so keen on getting and which motivated them to cozy up to Stonewall.

TopKnotch · 01/06/2022 09:48

That article is shocking in its one sidedness!

How can it be ok for a legal team member to involve themselves during the trial?

Quite apart from the absolute misinformation and misrepresentation peppered throughout ...

Shortpoet · 01/06/2022 10:16

That’s a shockingly one sided article. I don’t think anyone on here has a “virulent hate” for trans people.
I want to find a way where we can create spaces that work for everyone with single-sex exceptions where needed. “No debate” shuts down any way of moving forward.

Interesting that both Robin and Moya (article author) use “loud” as a criticism of GC women. That’s one step away from “shrill”. A new day, same old misogyny.

I don’t think anyone on here has a “virulent hate” for trans people.

Certainly far less virulent hate than RMW exhibits for women, and their existence, at least. It's pure projection.

"Increasingly, their focus is on the law and attacking even the current meagre rights it offers women".

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/06/2022 10:33

What's meagre about their rights, exactly?

Zeugma · 01/06/2022 10:35

That article……..good grief. Was that really a good idea?

AlisonDonut · 01/06/2022 10:46

Didn't a poster on here use 'virulent' in relation to the LGBA just yesterday...

It is on another thread. On here I mean on Mumsnet.

BenCoopersSupportWren · 01/06/2022 12:17

I wonder if it ever occurs to people, especially (but not exclusively) male-born people, that we might not have to be so "loud" if they would occasionally shut the fuck up from talking over us and listen to what we have to say first time around.

Emotionalsupportviper · 01/06/2022 13:40

Boiledbeetle · 31/05/2022 21:57

well up until now I've still been dreaming about the bloody tribunal.

I bet Ben Cooper is still waking up in a cold sweat at 3 in the morning because he's reliving the witnesses going on and on and on in his sleep!

However after these words today from a fellow mumsnetter

"One day he will drag you screaming into the slimy darkness and there you will have to spend all eternity among unwanted baby alligators which have grown to gigantic size feasting on sewage, and the corpses of flushed goldfish and hamsters . . .
Don't say you weren't warned".

I fear my dreams will be filled with other things tonight!

Thanks @Emotionalsupportviper More viper than support don't you think?

You OK hun?

My work here is done . . .

Emotionalsupportviper · 01/06/2022 13:45

Boiledbeetle · 31/05/2022 22:59

I think I've consumed just about as much nonsense as I can today.

I'm off to watch cat videos,

Sweet dreams all

Not you Emotionalsupportviper, You're on the naughty step for giving me and TheBiologyStupid nightmares tonight!

Don't blame me-it was BB who worshipped the Drain Cover God.

Drain Cover God is eeeeeeeeeeevil.

😢😢😥

I don't have the energy for hate - of anyone.

I'm too busy fighting for my daughter's, daughter-in-law's, and grandchild's precious right to safety, dignity and privacy.

Exactly, @Shortpoet

No. They literally don't think we are worthy of opinions.

Helleofabore · 01/06/2022 14:16

Oh dear. The swinging video (almost child like) and is just as annoying as her questioning style in that sing song voice.

Message from The Drain God.

I am hurt, angry, upset, feel ganged up on, violated and well, quite frankly think I want to cry.

I am The Drain God! I have never, do not now, and never will, identify as the drain Cover God! Just because i make Boiled lick the Drain Cover, does not mean I get to be the god of the cover.

I would like to believe it was a genuine mistake by a poster and not an attempt to purposefully attack me by intimating that I am something that I am not.

If you have an issue with Gary the actual Drain Cover God though I can give you his number.

Kevin
The Drain God

PS, and despite making my followers do the whole cover licking thing, I'm actually rather sweet. I am not a monster you know. I've even set up a creche and school for all the unwanted pets that are flushed whilst the children are at school.
