@EmbarrassingHadrosaurus thank you, just going to read that now.

@Boiledbeetle
hm, I may object to that, if I was still me.
but if I was a toast, then I couldn’t really fault her.

not sure what the toast fairies would make of that though

The gender vs sex thing is really difficult. DH was filling in a form for our DD the other day one field was 'gender' - the options were male, female, other and prefer not to say. I put prefer not to say, because the question makes no sense unless you have all 422 (or however many there are now) genders. DH put female. I said to him 'gender isn't the same as sex,' and he said 'oh but that's what they mean'.

Honestly I'm so tired of trying to have the argument with him about how important this is. He just doesn't see it. (male privilege).

I've started crossing out gender, writing sex and then putting female (for me) or male (if I'm filling it out on behalf of my DS). I don't mind gender as a second box but when some of the forms are for medical treatments how on earth can they collect reliable data on side effects on different sexes when that is not what the box asks.

I don’t,ike Jaffa cakes either. In fact, I hate them so much that only fig rolls are below them in the hierarchy of biscuityness.
But I like you lot.

Bourbons are the nadir of biscuitry. Always somehow reminiscent of dusty cupboards. They promise much, the little chocolate teases, but deliver disappointing dryness.

From the comments

"Either way, watching Ben Cooper tear Stonewall a new one is going to be immensely satisfying."

They bliddy are, too!

Pretending to be chocolate-y - Look mate, I know chocolate. Believe you me, I KNOW CHOCOLATE - and youse ain't it!

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 28/05/2022 11:16

That is a great article. I was so pleased reading it, I bit into my support Magnum without due care and attention and lots of little shards of chocolate have gone all over my pyjamas and bed. I and by I, I mean the cat will be picking licking them up all day.

Love the biscuit chat! Raspberry puffs from M and S are my favourite atm. Bahlsen do a dupe but they are inferior IMO (surely that is an AIBU thread all on its own).

Oh no I love those raspberry puffs, I can eat a whole packet because it feels like you’re eating delicious tasting nothing at all.

My Saturday night consists of Ricky Gervais, massive glass of wine and a Borders biscuit selection pack…

What are those ones embossed with cows? Coz those I'd happily leave to fossilise in my cupboard. So boring.

Malted Milk. My mum eats those when she’s on a diet…

Good idea! I’d rather eat nothing... weight loss guaranteed.

Boiledbeetle · 28/05/2022 20:58

All this talk of biscuits. Aghhhhhhhh! I still have five fairy cakes to eat, before I can start on my donated support edible. And then I can finally start on the one and only packet of biscuits in my house.

Custard creams.

Emotionalsupportviper · 28/05/2022 21:08

Oh, I love Malted Milk. The cows are especially delicious. 🐮

Oh dear Beetle - custard creams are better than Bourbons . . . but not much.

Thoughts and prayers . . . 😁

secular111 · 28/05/2022 21:09

I think win or lose, GCC are doomed. The embarrassment of the revelations is likely too much for a Chambers. I suspect its top barristers will be looking elsewhere, though they'll be tarnished by what has been revealed. No lucrative City briefs for you anymore, oh no.

And its client list will likely have to review whether GCC is best to handle the work they offer. Ultimately, whatever the result, I suspect GCC's partners will conclude it would have been better to settle, and then perhaps let Alison turn her guns onto Stonewall alone, with GCC claiming they were bullied by SW into actions that were absolutely not in keeping with their ethos. It wouldn't be entirely accurate; GCC look like they were up to their armpits in the conspiracy, but it might have been best to cut Stonewall loose to save the Chambers.

Stonewall would never have backed-down; they lost the ability to think and act sensibly long ago. I don't reckon GCC can argue they are in the same state though.

Your taste is exquisite! Fig rolls are an abomination, and Jaffa cakes are not much better.

I feel like that with Rich Teas. Infinitely disappointing. For a 'plain' biscuit, a digestive will do but Rich Tea might as well be used as small, hard Frisbees.

ImNotOnTwitterButMySupportGoldfinchTweets · 28/05/2022 21:12

My DCs love rich tea biscuits. I give DH a very hard stare every time they beg for them... they did not get that gene from me.

I don't mind a custard cream but they are so hard to eat! it's like eating dry crackers. if you try to stick a whole one in your mouth you end up choking on biscuit dust.

But I feel it's only right that given the current situation I eat the biscuit of my very working class childhood in order to remind myself that I am not, as some in the legal profession believe, a privileged middle class white lady talking out of my privileged backside!

Bourbons and malted milk are the work of the devil though.

Boiledbeetle · 28/05/2022 21:26

@secular111 I imagine their details have already been removed from many a list by now!

I sure as hell would be removing their page from my rolodex. (For the younger reader Google is your friend)

Whilst I feel sorry for the staff caught up in this who truly did not have any part in it quite frankly the rest deserve it.

Zebracat · 28/05/2022 21:29

I do agree that bourbons are third worst biscuit of all time. But I quite like a custard cream. Very dunkable. I love the M&S extremely chocolatey biscuits, and both Chocolate and plain digestives, as long as they are McVities. I’ve never turned down a Fox’s crunch cream either. I’ve not heard of Borders, I shall seek them out and tell you what my exquisite taste( preens) discerns.
Read the judgement. It helped me understand the direction of questioning.

Zebracat · 28/05/2022 21:30

God you would have hated Christmas 2016 in my house then! Christmas dinner was rich tea biscuits.

To be fair I had had a migraine for the best part of December and rich tea biscuits were the only thing I could actually stomach.

Boiledbeetle · 28/05/2022 21:34

Ooooh, bonus I've just found 2 viscount biscuits and a packet of Parma violets!! Hiding behind the Christmas pudding mountain.

I'm going to eat well tonight!!

The only good thing in that picture is the Viscounts. Parma Violets are evil in sweetie form.
