I can’t follow it live due to work. The threads are my guilty pleasure at lunchtime and in the evening.

Same here, BettyFilous. Thanks to everybody for excellent commentary.

@Baystard "Couldn't you just take your mother and the dog" or if they are gender ideology type employers your dad and your cat. It's literally the same thing

ROFL

Let us know what you decide @katmarie and GOOD LUCK! It has to be a good opportunity if you're prepared to miss MB!

Mollyollydolly · 25/05/2022 22:36

I will miss this when it's over. It seems wrong to call it a pleasure, it's Allison's life that's being raked over, but it is certainly a privilege to be able to watch and listen .Open Justice is fantastic, I've learnt so much and found it gripping (even the twitter explanations in an exasperating way).

The sunlight is fantastic, but there's so much more to do. Just been shopping for a few bits and had Iain Dale on in the car, they were talking about Gervais, every contributor sounded like a barrister from GCC.

Only caught the name of one Peter Wishart, all about the most marginalised, how disgraceful it was, all the same old boring stuff about toilets he said. I was doing a lot of shouty swearing in the car.

How many more women will have to go through what Allison has been through, it's ingrained everywhere - sometimes I feel like this board is in a parallel universe of sanity. It actually drives you a bit mad. Will Iain Dale discuss Allison's case when it's over, will they discuss the cotton ceiling? Doubt it somehow.

EJ sized sigh.

I’m going to miss BC, AH, IO, RMW, JR, when this is over. I admit it: I do wave.

It's like getting to the end of a boxset.

There are episodes, a narrative arc, interesting characters, laughs, emotional engagement...

i have had a couple of bereft moments when she disconnects us at the end of the day and I'm up to date with the threads...I'm going to be completely lost when it's done! It's almost insufferable at times listening to such gob smackingly awful testimony but it's just so utterly compelling at the same time.

stimpyyouidiot · 25/05/2022 22:41

On another note, I just did some gardening for Sarah Summers. I think she has only 3 days left to raise her total. I contributed to Allison and will do my best for Sarah too.

itsnearlyallover · 25/05/2022 22:57

By an absolute quirk of fate I have a fully day off work tomorrow and now have front row seats to Michelle Brewer in action.

What a rollercoaster of a couple of weeks it's been. I was going to start a thread asking for MNers favourite witnesses but though it was in bad taste, potentially although Tom Wainwright and his pinworms get my vote

So much love and respect to Allison. And I hope never to be represented by the likes of anyone at GCC (save for AB herself) should I ever find myself on the wrong side of the law.

Redshoeblueshoe · 25/05/2022 22:59

tabbycat has just posted a comment about SS - pity she put it on the M.Webberley thread (he's been struck off - for those that missed it)

My role in the film will be sitting on the sofa - near a small pile of ironing - that grows every day. Muttering profanities, maybe doing shot bingo.

dennisnoelkavanagh.substack.com/p/similar-to-south-africa-attempting?

Ironically, Mr. Cooper QC had just finished a series of questions about the BSB Social Media advice to barristers to the effect that heated debates should be avoided. As the social media furore following the South Africa tweet aptly demonstrates, this exchange has simply caused a heated debate (and horrified reaction).

Not sure if this has been posted yet. The above is an irony which escaped me till now. I wonder if the Tribunal can take the social media shitstorm caused by the “don’t be controversial” professional standards expert into consideration!

Thanks for that link. Apart from Allison and BC no-one is coming out of this looking good. Ms McGahey is going to deeply regret her choice of analogy, I feel.

SupportSpindle · 25/05/2022 23:12

I'm still very angry about the appalling 'sexual racism' allusions in and of themselves, and I'm also angry yet curious that two women (Nancy Kelley and CMcG) have promulgated it in public feeling that they were safe to do so.

From where do they get that kind of feeling of invincibility? Their 'workshops'?

Scorched · 25/05/2022 23:16

I’ll be going for my run early tomorrow . Fortunately I’m retired and got time to listen to this. Plus because I don’t work I don’t mind emailing bodies on GC issues, as you can’t lose a job you don’t have. Although I think when this case is over , women will find it easier to talk publicly about being gender critical. What gets me is a lot of these men state they don’t see trans women as a problem, no shit, and maybe that’s because ‘No Debate’ and threats of violence have silenced women

Clymene · 25/05/2022 23:17

Thank you for the threads today. I've been gutted about not seeing brewer so I'm selfishly pleased she's been moved.

Your descriptions of all the witnesses today were gold

TastefulRainbowUnicorn · 25/05/2022 23:23

Yes, I still don’t understand these women. Men like Renton and that squirmy scrote from yesterday are sadly easy to understand. But women like CM baffle me. Is it just extreme conformity and lack of empathy?

NoCureForLove · 25/05/2022 23:29

Placemarking for tomorrow's excitment!

I suppose it could be one (or a combination) of: fear; desire to acquire professional kudos; financial gain; psychological avarice (brownie points); social conditioning ('Be Kind'); social contagion; Stockholming; never having had a religion before and getting a kick out of it.

And why and how have we, on here, been immune to whatever this fast-evolving social virus is?

Maybe we need to ask, what is different about us?

Feministwoman · 26/05/2022 00:25

Is anyone logging in with their MN username? I haven't, so far, but I have wondered about a few observers...

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 26/05/2022 00:30

I think I'd better not...

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 26/05/2022 00:33

I really hope that AB, BC and EJ can sink a bottle of wine together once t's appropriate. I think they'd have a hoot, regardless of outcome.

oviraptor21 · 26/05/2022 00:37

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 26/05/2022 00:30

I think I'd better not...

Why ever not? 😂

I don't log in with anything identifiable.

Sadly I will miss tomorrow. However I was thinking myself lucky as she was moved earlier in the week to today (in theory) and now she's been moved back again so I'm not feeling to hard done by.

I am very much looking forward to catching up on here afterwards.

Is tomorrow the last day until 20th June?

Boiledbeetle · 26/05/2022 00:51

@SupportSpindle "And why and how have we, on here, been immune to whatever this fast-evolving social virus is?

Maybe we need to ask, what is different about us?"

Maybe it's because we actually don't have anything in common with each other, apart from, in the main, being women.

We share no common political affiliation, don't work in the same fields, don't attend the same religious setting. Don't share a bus together on the way to work. Don't drink in the same pub, etc.

We aren't in an artificial algorithm led echo chamber. And even those that are forced to listen to the sessions at work about gender identity and stuff are then able to give their head a wobble when they come on here.

SupportSpindle · 26/05/2022 00:59

MN as the freedom serum! Sounds good to me.

Redshoeblueshoe · 26/05/2022 00:59

I disagree Mr Hochhause r
yeah you shouldn't sign in with that
but it would be very funny 😍

Boiledbeetle · 26/05/2022 01:32

Ahhh insomnia it's not welcome tonight. But whilst I'm awake.....

This whole thing has cost Allison what? about half a million pounds. That sounds like such a ridiculous amount of money doesn't it?

This time last year I was about to pay my legal bills. The cost of the solicitor, the barrister, the reports from suitably qualified experts etc meant I had a legal bill of £125K, give or take a few quid.

Boiledbeetle · 26/05/2022 01:34

Oops pressed post by accident...

Anyway that £125k was for a tribunal that didn't even last a day.

So given this has been going on for a month I think it's been rather good value for money!!

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 26/05/2022 01:38

I’d so love to join in live. Alas, the seven hour time difference means that I’d have to be up at 2am.

I shall follow this at a more sensible hour, with some coffee and a support beaver.
