I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't an exodus and management aren't contemplating a re-branding/re-naming if nothing else.

The Morpheus Set? Lethe Chambers? Lethe is aka Ameles potamos (river of unmindfulness).

tabbycatstripy · 25/05/2022 20:36

I think remote hearings are a huge leap for open justice. It looks like hard work for EJG and she definitely deserves a big bottle of gin at the end, whatever they decide.

exwhyzed · 25/05/2022 20:37

I've just caught up after a very busy day at work, which was busy because I have a rare day off tomorrow that was booked months ago for a reason that doesnt exist any more and I decided to keep anyway it as a random 'me day'

I was logging in keen to find out how MB had got on. Imagine my delight this evening that not only have I not missed it but due to the day off I can also give it my full attention tomorrow.

‘I could however do with some kind of support animal/vegetable/mineral to take in with me. Suggestions welcome.’

Aim high. Take in a support dragon fruit.

Aim higher, take in a support dragon. 🐉

LeniGray · 25/05/2022 20:38

Oh my. I’m never going to get caught up, there just aren’t enough hours in the day 😩

Baystard · 25/05/2022 20:39

I could however do with some kind of support animal/vegetable/mineral to take in with me. Suggestions welcome.

Couldn't you just take your mother and the dog @katmarie?

CriticalCondition · 25/05/2022 20:40

Even more shit than usual will be getting done by women before 9am tomorrow.

I’m going to miss BC, AH, IO, RMW, JR, when this is over. I admit it: I do wave.

It's like getting to the end of a boxset.

There are episodes, a narrative arc, interesting characters, laughs, emotional engagement...

Doesn't Lethe make you forget everything?

That does seem to be the done thing these days. Also seems less tricky than securing a dragon fruit, or an actual dragon. Amazon prime letting me down there!

Boiledbeetle · 25/05/2022 20:43

@ifIwerenotanandroid
Luckily we'll be treated to a special extra episode in June when they do their summing up. If I've understood what the judge said earlier today.

And then just when we've forgotten who fought with who and why, the judgement turns up like a Doctor Who christmas special.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 25/05/2022 20:44

@Boiledbeetle I think so. An epilogue?

Hazycoffeek · 25/05/2022 18:59

There were so many holes in today’s testimonies that it was infuriating to listen to. For example,

The small number of tweets received by GCC following AB’s LGB launch tweet was a Twitter storm, which posed a reputational risk and prompted analysis of the number of ‘some’ of the followers of those tweeters (which DMM thinks prove credibility), internal email discussions on how to respond followed by announcing that AB is being investigated but the responses/questions in support of AB received by GCC and criticising GCC in response to the announcement of the investigation, which BC discussed with DMM today, presumably also raised a potential reputational risk yet prompted .. nothing.

When asked by BC how such a small number of tweets could be a Twitter storm which prompted these actions, DMM said he also considered the responses received directly by AB. Yet he also testified that he had only given these a quick scan and somehow failed to notice the abundance of tweets of abuse, death threats etc.

How DMM, as the person with overall responsibility for the GCC Twitter account, can say with a straight face that he didn’t know that tagging someone in a tweet means the tweet will appear in that person’s feed is beyond me. Nor that tweets sent out or retweeted by GCC on its account (describing articles promoting self id as a ‘must read’ for example) are not the views of GCC. It’s a corporate social media account!!

And KC not understanding the basics of GDPR, even though she proudly announced that she went back before giving testimony to refresh her memory of the rules, is astounding for a barrister.

Time for support wine. Big hugs Allison.

Excellent summary. BC earned his salary today.

@SpindleInTheWind it could be a while he's just trying to get the cat tree to fit in his suitcase.

Oh my - serious cat tree envy at the Rolls Royce of cat trees 🙀

Boiledbeetle · 25/05/2022 20:46

@Baystard "Couldn't you just take your mother and the dog" or if they are gender ideology type employers your dad and your cat. It's literally the same thing!

Boiledbeetle · 25/05/2022 20:47

@oviraptor21 "Oh my - serious cat tree envy at the Rolls Royce of cat trees"

Alas I also have cat tree envy, I nicked the photo off the internet. The shame!!

(Allow for dramatic license)

SCENE1

Opening montage

EXT. Residential street Uk

*bright sunshine and blue sky. A young black girl of about 8 runs down the street, school bag on her shoulders, past houses to the front door of a home which she enters. Music plays.

CUTS To

INT. court room

*a black woman is giving evidence in a tribunal. It's the child, grown up. We don't here her words, but we see her passion. Music rises.

CUTS TO

EXT. Uni graduation

*the same woman at 22, graduating her degree with her peers. Another happy day. Music continues

CUTS TO

INT. Court room.

*the judge presiding is speaking to the court. The woman watches on. music rises

CUTS TO

EXT. Outside Old Bailey

*the woman approaches then enters the building. She is wearing her robes and wig. She's a success.

CUTS TO

INT. Courtroom close up of her face

*slow zoom right in to tight close up of her look of fierce determination

CUTs TO

TITLES - "ALLISON"

(Just a whole script to go after that)

I like it. Do we have money in the special effects budget to do the morphing face thingy (technical term) where her young girl face turns into her adult face?

@ifIwerenotanandroid or it could be one of those crossover type episodes setting it up for Sarah's case against the rape crisis centre

I don't think we can watch that as Sarah understandably wants to remain anonymous.

the immortal words of the viper who roundly put a wannabe mansplainer in his place on a long-ago thread about IT - resorting to bashing the keyboard with her tits.

Pg 2: Oh thank GOD you're here! Thank you SO much. I've been using these magic boxes for over 20 years without a CLUE what I'm doing. I remember when the demon known as the internet came into my house. you'd have been about 5 back then. I have been keeping the evil at bay with chicken legs and candles. Thank goodness you've arrived.

Back when my job involved working on these machines all day, I just bashed them with my tits and hoped for the best.

I'm not actually sure how I managed to get on here, tbh. I was dusting it one day and all this stuff appeared.

Cutted up pears.
Sex lube and a fish slice.
Bashing keyboards.

<misty-eyed for all the MN Classics being brought up here and still relevant>

<waiting in hope for just the right moment for the dolphin thread>

Boiledbeetle · 25/05/2022 21:04

@ickky good point. I really hope she doesn't get to trial point though. I'm hoping they do the right thing way before that!

ickky · 25/05/2022 21:05

There is another employment hearing beginning in December for a social worker who was reported for posting about reform of the Gender Recognition Act on a private Facebook Group. Someone took screenshots and reported her to Social Work England. Her name is Rachel Meade. Maybe we could all get behind her once this hearing is finished.
