starting well and clear, but then don't they all

CatsOperatingInGangs · 26/05/2022 09:06

Ooh Robbie de Santos from Stonewall has been mentioned in an email. His tentacles are all over the British Cycling/Emily Bridges debacle too.

WookeyHole · 26/05/2022 09:06

LipbalmOrKnickers · 26/05/2022 09:06

Scottish I thought?

Irish (Northern?)

WallaceinAnderland · 26/05/2022 09:07

It's very echoey in MB's room.

CriticalCondition · 26/05/2022 09:07

No, she's said more now. Scottish?

Birdsweepsin · 26/05/2022 09:07

Is Hochy on our side?

Picking MB up on not having been invited to the Stonewall intranet

LipbalmOrKnickers · 26/05/2022 09:07

The counsel for respondent always goes first for corrections to witness statement Wookey.

WinterTrees · 26/05/2022 09:07

Never has Adrienne's 'Gentle Morning Yoga' session been completed so energetically. I'm here, limbering up my pelvic floor for action.

Scottish accent.

InvisibleDragon · 26/05/2022 09:08

Good luck with the op @Penguintears!

I agree that not caring so much what other people think is extremely liberating. Interestingly, I think this is a state that lots of men exist permanently in. From childhood, boys are encouraged to think about what works for them and put their needs (and wants) first, whilst girls are taught to help others, consider everyone else and put their own needs last.

Another thought - witnesses like KM have been very preoccupied with the idea that trans people must be oppressed because they are a minority. I think this comes from American identity politics where being "minorities" is often synonymous with being marginalised and oppressed. But outside of America, that's very often not true. To use an example from this trial, white people were very much not the majority group in apartheid South Africa, yet they ran an oppressive regime for decades, because they held all the important political and legislative positions. The instrument of oppression is not numbers but power.

I've not been watching live (last big deadline before Mat leave today) but I've been following these threads (and TT intermittently) and they are invaluable - huge thanks to @ickky and all the knowledgeable vipers out there keeping us informed!

CatsOperatingInGangs · 26/05/2022 09:08

MB unsure how long she was a trustee for Gendered Intelligence. If MB looks on the Charity Commission website the information is there. As a trustee of a charity, shouldn’t she know this?

WookeyHole · 26/05/2022 09:08

Thanks @LipbalmOrKnickers these hadn't struck me as corrections.

Nicely dropping in there early doors that she was to be appointed a judge.

IDidntKnowItWasAParty · 26/05/2022 09:09

MB was a Trustee of Gendered Intelligence genderedintelligence.co.uk/
estimated time: 2017/18
gave up when becoming a judge, around end 2019

Motorina · 26/05/2022 09:09

WookeyHole · 26/05/2022 09:06

Why is AH going first?

She's his witness.

The order is:

  1. Examination in chief. This is the main evidence from the witness, produced by their side. AH
  2. Cross examination. The other side challenges. BC
  3. Re-examination. The side who's witness it is picks up on anything from the cross exam. AH.
We're normally not seeing much examination in chief because it's all in the witness statement, so it boils down to, "This your statement? Is it true?" But AH is entitled to ask as much as he likes of his witness when he presents them.
Mmmnotsure · 26/05/2022 09:10

Not sure when became a trustee of Gendered Intelligence, or when stopped being so, even though only a few years ago.

Information inadvertently omitted from documentation.

Here we go.

Gabcsika · 26/05/2022 09:10

Can the judge make notes of all these last minute amendments?

They seem quite important.

Penguintears · 26/05/2022 09:10

Any idea why I have a blank screen and no sound? I've tried Safari and Chrome. Haven't changed any settings since yesterday. Have tried logging in and out. So frustrating!

exwhyzed · 26/05/2022 09:10

you know how you picture someone in your mind and often you are completely wrong when you actually get to see a picture or video of them

Michelle Brewer is exactly how I imagined she would be, perhaps slightly darker haired but other than I was pretty spot on.

WinterTrees · 26/05/2022 09:11

Think we're going to have to add 'just bear with me' to the bingo card for this one...

Gabcsika · 26/05/2022 09:11

MB is already looking annoyed on the 2nd question.

BeBraveLittlePenguin · 26/05/2022 09:11

CatsOperatingInGangs · 26/05/2022 09:06

Ooh Robbie de Santos from Stonewall has been mentioned in an email. His tentacles are all over the British Cycling/Emily Bridges debacle too.

I read that as his testicle all over British Cycling 😀

WookeyHole · 26/05/2022 09:11

She's really going at the water.

LipbalmOrKnickers · 26/05/2022 09:11

WinterTrees · 26/05/2022 09:11

Think we're going to have to add 'just bear with me' to the bingo card for this one...

Seconded. Along with the throat clear...

Zeugma · 26/05/2022 09:11

If this 'Michelle L Brewer' in the article is the same person (it certainly looks like her in the picture), what she says is……..surprising, given her alleged role in this case. It’s interesting, that’s for sure.

Article from 2020

tabbycatstripy · 26/05/2022 09:12

Blinky.

CatsOperatingInGangs · 26/05/2022 09:13

There’s lots of rapid blinking with this witness.
