Yes GCC should now sue Stonewall.

crumpet · 27/07/2022 12:26

How triumphalist do we think the Stonewall response will be?

Emotionalsupportviper · 27/07/2022 12:26

lifeissweet · 27/07/2022 12:21

Soooo happy. What a woman! Stonewall have shown themselves to be an absolutely shocking shower of arseholes and regardless of this, they are finished. It's coming round the corner at speed.

Is it too early for a glass of something bubbly?

The sun is over the yardarm somewhere in the world!

Crack that bottle open. 🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾

howdoesatoastermaketoast · 27/07/2022 12:26

@Apollo442 great minds think alike xpost :-D

howdoesatoastermaketoast · 27/07/2022 12:27

GCC suing SW would be popcornworthy!

I have popped something bubbly. I am really quite emotional and have two small DCs asking why and patting my shoulder.

Buggery thing is that DH is out on his bike and forgot his phone so I can't tell him yet! We have been glued to the tribunal.

ResisterRex · 27/07/2022 12:27

I'm expecting SW to talk about "a case you might have heard of...". Or identify as the winner.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 27/07/2022 12:28

A skim of the judgment is worth it.

Monkeychimp1 · 27/07/2022 12:28

Can anyone see response from Stonewall to this verdict ?

CompleteGinasaur · 27/07/2022 12:28

Can't wait to see how Dolores Umbridge Nancy Kelley is going to spin this!

Legospider · 27/07/2022 12:28

Thank you Allison. Thank you so very much.

I wish we could all go round her house and high five/hug/shake hands manfully.

Also crying.

Apollo442 · 27/07/2022 12:28

And their bollocks revisionist interpretation on the cotton ceiling got short shrift.

CriticalCondition · 27/07/2022 12:28

I'm so, so pleased for Allison.

And aggravated damages from GCC too. That'll really sting. And make itself felt in the legal and insurance world. The 'non renewal' for 'financial reasons' of Stonewall memberships just got a rocket under it.

AlisonDonut · 27/07/2022 12:28

Not just damages, aggravated damages.

Cuck00soup · 27/07/2022 12:28

Bloody well done Allison. WineWineWineso pleased and relieved to read this.

Coming on top of Maya's judgement too, feels like this thing really is turning around.

Very grateful to the brave women who put themselves through unimaginable stress to get us here. Thank You 🙏

TheKeatingFive · 27/07/2022 12:28

Great news. Here's hoping this makes multiple organisations rethink their relationship with SW.

howdoesatoastermaketoast · 27/07/2022 12:28

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 27/07/2022 12:23

Regardless of the legal court, I believe she has surely won against Stonewall in the court of public opinion. Which they will fucking hate.

YES!

Absolutely true.

InvisibleDragon · 27/07/2022 12:28

I think this will finish Stonewall. They get their money from educating organisations about the law (as they would like it to be). No organisation is going to listen to them after their educational program resulted in paying out aggravated damages for discriminating against an employee for their protected beliefs.

Emotionalsupportviper · 27/07/2022 12:29

howdoesatoastermaketoast · 27/07/2022 12:27

GCC suing SW would be popcornworthy!

I can just imagine the crowds signing in . . .

bellinisurge · 27/07/2022 12:29

I love that Allison is She Who Must Not Be Named in previous comment Stonewall has made on this case. Wonder what they'll say. Shall be do bingo:
Attack on rights
We'll never stop fighting for TRA
Any more ...

SummerLobelia · 27/07/2022 12:29

Apollo442 · 27/07/2022 12:25

So GCC have been found guilty for acting on Stonewall's illegal advice but not Stonewall for giving said advice. Ok... I think Stonewall are fairly covered in shit over this and good luck to them spinning this as any sort of positive. 'Listen to our illegal advice and get sued'.

They'll reframe their trauma. Hmm

TheKeatingFive · 27/07/2022 12:29

Bears repeating

/also crying

OvaHere · 27/07/2022 12:30

So pleased for Allison she must be so relieved. I think this is the outcome most who followed the tribunal were hoping for/banking on.

A direct link from SW to GCC was always going to have to meet a high bar and I think most of us on these threads recognised it probably didn't. However it's not good news for Stonewall by any means because if I was a business I would not wish to be sued based on their erroneous advice.

PronounssheRa · 27/07/2022 12:30

Apollo442 · 27/07/2022 12:26

Yes GCC should now sue Stonewall.

Could you imagine though, yeah we are a barristers Chambers but we were so desperate for stonewall cookies that we took their flawed advice over our own knowledge of the law.
