Finding the right tutor for your child can be a difficult process. You want to make sure that the tutor is qualified, available at a time that works for you and is someone who can meet your child's needs (not to mention gel with them) to make it a smooth experience.

We asked Mumsnet users to test Tutorful's service by booking a private lesson for themselves or their child. Overall, Mumsnetters were so pleased with the process and the tutors that Tutorful has been awarded the Mumsnet Rated badge. Read on to find out what the testers had to say

What do Mumsnet users think?

We asked 44 Mumsnet users (and their kids) to test Tutorful's service by booking a private lesson and then report back on their experience. This was as much a test of the service – using the site to find a tutor, messaging, and arranging lessons – as it was of the lesson itself. Each of our testers received one free face-to-face session in a subject of their choosing.

Overall, our testers were very impressed with the tutors they found and the experience of booking through Tutorful. When asked, 84% of testers would use it again and 89% would recommend the service to a friend or family member, which is why Tutorful gets the Mumsnet Rated stamp of approval. Feedback on finding a tutor

Lots of our Mumsnet testers hadn't used tutors before, though many had considered it. Those who had previously been on the fence about organising extra tuition liked that Tutorful made the process straightforward and that you can read reviews before booking your lesson.

I’ve been through the mill in the past few years looking for solutions and trying different avenues for education. I found the process of searching for suitable tutors in the local area easy and straightforward on Tutorful.

I liked the Tutorful service better than just finding an advertisement as you could gauge a bit more about the tutor's character and compare them with others before booking a lesson.

I was contacted within minutes by the first tutor I'd chosen. We messaged and I'd booked a session for the same day within around ten minutes. It was all really easy and straightforward.

Feedback on the tutor and the lesson

Almost all of our testers had very positive experiences with their tutors, across a range of subjects, and the fact that many have booked another lesson with the same tutor speaks volumes. A few of our testers were looking for tutors to support their children with SEN (and had been a little anxious about the process), so they were particularly impressed that their kids gelled so well with their tutors.

Parents' feedback

The tutor was punctual, nice and polite, and gave a very good judgement of my child's abilities.

The tutor we tested out was very warm and friendly and good at talking to my daughter (who was a bit shy). She had a bag of tricks that aided her in making learning fun and was great at holding her attention.

The tutor was fantastic. I’m sure my son learned more in that 30-minute guitar session than he has in the last three years!

Children's feedback

My daughter felt the tutor had exactly the right level of patience and let her try and answer things first. She was excellent at explaining things and strict but in a kind way.

My son loved the lesson and would love to go back. The tutor put him at his ease straight away.

My son absolutely loved it! He loves maths and really enjoyed the one-to-one and warmed immediately to the tutor who was great with him.
