Sentier Fragrance Advent Calendar 2026 review: “A distinctive countdown for perfume and candle fans”

Six perfumes, six scented candles and one rather puzzling box: the Sentier Fragrance Advent Calendar takes a more focused approach to the Christmas countdown.

Our rating:
What we like
  • Unusual half-perfume, half-candle line-up feels considered

  • The illustrated keepsake box is compact, sturdy and reusable

  • Parisian Embrace, Ardent Cherry and Balade in Autumn are the fragrance highlights

  • Whispering Spell and Land of Dreams performed well when lit

  • The 10ml perfume bottles are useful for handbags, desks and travel

  • At £109, it offers plenty of variety for the money

What we don't like
  • There isn’t a single full-size perfume or statement candle

  • The 12-day format won’t satisfy anyone wedded to a full 24-door countdown

  • Méribel wasn’t one of Charlotte’s favourites

  • Alpine Chalet made very little impression during the cold sniff test

  • Finding the next numbered compartment can take longer than expected

What Mumsnet users

Our verdict

Sentier has taken two things many of us already enjoy in December - perfume and candles - and put them into one compact, illustrated box.

Unlike your usual fragrance calendars from the likes of Harvey Nichols and others, Charlotte found the calendar distinctive from the moment she opened it. The 12 compartments are arranged almost like a puzzle, so finding the next number becomes part of the fun. It is charming when you are in the mood... Less so when you are late for the school run and drawer seven appears to have disappeared entirely.

The contents are evenly split between six portable perfumes and six small candles. Parisian Embrace was Charlotte’s favourite fragrance, with Ardent Cherry, Balade in Autumn and Path of Lemons also making memorable first impressions.

Whispering Spell and Land of Dreams both improved noticeably once lit by Charlotte, while Lait de Feu’s warm vanilla character made it the candle she most wanted in a larger size.

It isn’t flawless. None of the products are full size and a larger hero candle or perfume would have made the £109 spend feel more luxurious. Méribel did not win Charlotte over and Alpine Chalet was almost too subtle to assess unlit.

Still, this is a coherent fragrance edit rather than a random pile of minis and that counts for quite a lot. Especially if you love Sentier as a brand already.

How we tested the Sentier Fragrance Advent Calendar

Mumsnet tester Charlotte opened all 12 compartments and assessed the calendar’s construction, presentation and slightly puzzling unboxing experience.

She smelled every perfume and candle, considered when she would realistically wear or use each one and weighed the selection against the £109 purchase price. Charlotte also lit Whispering Spell and Land of Dreams to see how the fragrance developed as the wax warmed and how well each candle scented the room.

Sentier Fragrance Advent Calendar: design and unboxing

The illustrated keepsake box is one of the calendar’s strongest features. It feels decorative and festive without looking as though Father Christmas has sneezed glitter over it. It is compact enough to display without taking up half the mantelpiece, and the sturdy drawer construction makes it useful after December. Though, I personally struggle to see what you might use the box for post-Christmas.

That's because the drawers sit in an irregular arrangement, with the numbers dotted around rather than marching obediently from one to 12. Charlotte enjoyed the puzzle-like quality overall and thought it could make opening the calendar with a partner, friend or older child more fun. She also admitted that finding each day could take a little time.

Once emptied, the box could hold jewellery, make-up, perfume samples or other small odds and ends in Charlotte's opinion. Its reusability gives the presentation a little more substance than packaging designed to survive December and immediately meet the recycling bin.

What’s inside the Sentier Fragrance Advent Calendar 2026

This is a single-brand, scent-only calendar. There are no lip balms skulking behind door 11 and no emergency pair of tweezers pretending to be a treat. You get six 10ml perfumes and six 60g candles, which makes the line-up easy to understand.

Six 10ml fragrances

  • Ardent Cherry Extrait de Parfum: black cherry, ginger, nutmeg, cherry blossom, incense, amber and sandalwood

  • Parisian Embrace Eau de Parfum: tangerine flower, nectarine, peach, pear, bitter almond, liquorice, vanilla and brown sugar

  • Path of Lemons Eau de Parfum: bergamot, grapefruit, tangerine, lavender, iris, orange blossom, cardamom, cocoa and leather

  • Balade in Autumn Eau de Parfum: bitter orange, saffron, rose, jasmine, cedar, resins and botanical moss

  • Noor Riviera alcohol-free Eau de Parfum: apple flower, jasmine, gardenia, patchouli and sugar

  • Méribel alcohol-free Eau de Parfum: heliotrope, white flowers, jasmine, patchouli, amber, vanilla, sandalwood and musk

Six 60g scented candles

  • Ombre de Miel: black tea, spice, leather, tobacco and honey

  • Botanical Sanctuary: lemon, orange, chamomile, jasmine, liquorice, sandalwood and cedarwood

  • Alpine Chalet: bergamot, green tea, cedarwood and tonka bean

  • Land of Dreams: cinnamon, clove, heliotrope, calamondin, soft florals, woods and musk

  • Whispering Spell: davana, lavender, orange blossom, amber and tonka bean

  • Lait de Feu: roasted coffee, maple, aged rum, vanilla, sandalwood and vetiver

Charlotte’s first impressions of the Sentier perfumes

Parisian Embrace

Parisian Embrace was Charlotte’s clear favourite. In her own words: “Parisian Embrace was my favourite perfume in the calendar. It smells fresh and works equally well for daytime or evening, making it one of the most versatile fragrances in the set.”

Its fruit, almond, liquorice, vanilla and brown-sugar notes sound potentially pudding-like on paper, but neither Charlotte nor the Mumsnet user who had tried it found it too gourmand.

Ardent Cherry

Ardent Cherry smells unmistakably of its namesake. Charlotte found it sweet, fresh and fruity and imagined wearing it for brunch or lunch with friends. The incense, amber and sandalwood underneath the black cherry stop it from being a one-note fruit spray, although anyone who dislikes cherry fragrance is unlikely to undergo a festive conversion.

Two products from the Sentier Fragrance Advent Calendar 2026

Balade in Autumn and Path of Lemons

Balade in Autumn feels fresh while still earning its seasonal name. Charlotte pictured it on a walk through the park or around a Sunday market, rather than saved for a formal evening. Path of Lemons heads in the opposite seasonal direction. It is bright, citrusy and immediately evocative of summer, making it a useful holiday perfume long after the Christmas decorations have gone back into hiding.

Noor Riviera and Méribel

Noor Riviera is light, refreshing and easy to wear during the day. Charlotte thought it was polished enough for work without being overpowering. Méribel was less successful for her. It felt more evening-appropriate, but the floral, amber, vanilla and musk blend was not one she would rush back to. Both are alcohol-free, which adds a little variety to the formats, although suitability still comes down to personal preference and the full ingredient list.

Charlotte’s first impressions of the Sentier candles

Whispering Spell and Land of Dreams

These are the two candles Charlotte burned, and both became much more expressive once the wax warmed. She wrote: “Whispering Spell changed noticeably during the burn test. It came alive as the wax warmed, filling the room with a fresh, airy fragrance.”

Land of Dreams also developed into a fuller, more noticeable scent. This is worth remembering before dismissing a candle on cold sniff alone. Wax can be annoyingly coy until fire gets involved.

Lait de Feu

Charlotte’s verdict was immediate: “Lait de Feu was an immediate favourite. Its warm vanilla character is comforting, and the brand's coffee, maple, rum, sandalwood and vetiver notes give it a richer edge. This is one I would consider buying separately in a larger size.”

Botanical Sanctuary, Ombre de Miel and Alpine Chalet

Botanical Sanctuary smelled fresh and light, making it an appealing morning candle for a kitchen, bathroom or home office. Ombre de Miel made a pleasant first impression, although its tea, spice, leather, tobacco and honey notes are likely to become more apparent when lit.

Alpine Chalet was the weak link during the unlit test because Charlotte struggled to detect much fragrance at all.

Are the perfume and candle sizes useful?

Ten millilitres is travel size rather than a blink-and-it’s-empty sample vial. The bottles are small enough for a handbag, desk drawer or hand luggage and large enough to give each scent a fair trial before considering a full bottle. Six of them also provide far more wear than a single 50ml perfume you discover you cannot stand after three sprays.

The 60g candles are petite, too. They work well for trying several scents or dotting them around smaller rooms, but none have the visual impact or burn time of a large statement candle.

That said, a bigger hero candle would have strengthened the calendar and broken up the uniformity of the contents IMHO.

Is the Sentier Fragrance Advent Calendar good value?

Sentier sells the calendar for £109 and says its contents are worth £529. That works out at roughly £9.08 per product before assigning any value to the reusable box. On paper, the saving is huge.

I would keep one eyebrow gently raised around the headline figure, though. The perfumes are all 10ml and the candles are all 60g, with no full-size product anchoring the value. Mumsnet users have also questioned Sentier’s RRPs, and individual fragrances have appeared at significant discounts elsewhere.

Drawers opened to reveal inside the Sentier Fragrance Advent Calendar 2026

The more useful question is whether £109 feels fair for six practical travel perfumes, six small candles and a well-made keepsake box. If you enjoy both personal and home fragrance, I think it does. If you are mainly attracted by the apparent £420 saving, step away from the calculator and look closely at the actual scent list first. Of course, if you're a fan of Sentier already, it's a no brainer.

Would the Sentier Fragrance Advent Calendar make a good gift?

Yes, for the right person. The box looks special, the contents cover both perfume and home fragrance and the 10ml bottles remove some of the commitment involved in gifting a full-size scent. It is particularly well suited to somebody who likes discovering lesser-known brands or changing fragrance with their mood.

I would be more cautious if the recipient wants a traditional 24-day countdown, dislikes scented candles or has strong sensitivities. A single-brand calendar also carries more risk than a mixed beauty edit because every product comes from the same fragrance house. If Sentier’s style does not click, there is no mascara behind the next door to rescue matters.

Who should buy the Sentier Fragrance Advent Calendar?

  • Perfume fans who prefer useful travel sprays to tiny sample vials

  • Candle lovers who enjoy trying several home fragrances

  • Anyone curious about Sentier but unwilling to commit to a full bottle

  • Gift buyers looking for something more distinctive than a standard beauty calendar

  • People who value a compact, reusable box

It is less suitable for anyone wanting 24 doors, at least one full-size product, a mixed-brand selection or a low-risk blind buy.

Final verdict: is this the right Advent calendar for you?

The Sentier Fragrance Advent Calendar is not trying to win the annual competition for the most drawers, the most brands or the most inflated mountain of products. It is a compact, thoughtfully presented edit of six perfumes and six candles, and Charlotte found enough standouts to make the £109 price feel defensible.

Parisian Embrace, Ardent Cherry and Balade in Autumn give the perfume half range, while Whispering Spell and Land of Dreams proved that the candle selection has more to offer once lit. The reusable box is lovely and the 10ml bottles are sizes people will actually use.

I would still have welcomed one full-size hero, and the £529 claimed value deserves scrutiny rather than applause. This is also a 12-day, single-brand calendar, so it is not the safest gift for somebody whose fragrance taste remains a closely guarded state secret.

For perfume and candle fans who like the actual scent list, however, it is distinctive, useful and enjoyable to open.
