The Bluestocking Women’s Pub - Where Everybody Knows Your Username

Welcome to the Bluestocking Arms, the home of good company, excellent drinks and delicious cakes which magically have no irksome contents like gluten or sugar or calories or the kind of alcohol that causes problems - but you wouldn't knowSmile

Food and drink are served by a keen staff of gerbils, and other animals such as capybaras, quokkas, etc., also fulfil vital roles, while looking cute AF.

New Bluestockingers always welcome.

First in!

FuzzyPuffling · 02/06/2025 17:14

Puffin' along behind.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 02/06/2025 17:51

Just running in to grab a chair by the window & order... hmm... a very cold milkshake & a gooey chocolate fudge cake I think, please, bar gerbil.

I may be distracted by Stuff this week, or perhaps I'll be in need of the lunacy ambience of our beloved Bluestocking. Whatever happens, I'm sending my best wishes to everyone here including, of course, dear Swashy.

The gangplank to Swashy's ship got moved in the move.

The gerbils are currently confused.

I've left Rosie to help them whilst I help round up fluffy things.

I wasn't certain if the view from your window was a metaphor for your personal Stuff or something topical, so I had to read the news!

FuzzyPuffling · 02/06/2025 18:21

I've got Spartipuss with me, and a selection of quokkas and capybara.
We're all settling nicely into the new thread.
I wonder how many threads we're up to now?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 02/06/2025 18:41

I hadn’t realised we were this close to the end of the previous thread - thank you for this lovely, shiny new one, @MarieDeGournay!

Ive been MIA - we had friends to stay, so it’s been a busy weekend, but a really good one - lots of catching up with a warm and wonderful friend from my university days and her lovely dh.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/06/2025 18:55

Oh, is that a view of Mt Etna? that’s a surprise.

So this is the 20th thread since the July 24 restart.

Magpiecomplex · 02/06/2025 19:09

That's quite a lot of nattering! I feel like we ought to do something special to celebrate our 20th anniversary.

I’m sure the gerbils can concoct some appropriately celebratory cocktails.
Or simpler drinks of our choice. Tbh I’m needing a big mug of decaf tea before anything else.

Boiledbeetle · 02/06/2025 19:18

I'm just off to put the Tunnock's away somewhere safe.

Nice and dry in here, I got bucketed on when I put the bin out.

FuzzyPuffling · 02/06/2025 19:35

20th thread! Well done us.

I'll have another pruary please gerbils.

DeanElderberry · 02/06/2025 19:48

Isn't it interesting the way the alcoholic alcohol in the Bluestocking has no intoxicating effects, but the Praury is . . . . .mildly exhilarating

I liked that garden you showed the pic of in the last thread Puffs.

Magpiecomplex · 02/06/2025 19:50

Cocktails for everyone!

FuzzyPuffling · 02/06/2025 19:51

Cheers Deano. Beautiful gardens with river views and beaches, in a picture perfect village.
Envious? Me? Whatever gave you that idea?

MarieDeGournay · 02/06/2025 19:54

Newcomers to the Bluestocking are always welcome, and probably a bit puzzled! We somehow acquired a staff composed almost entirely of rodents [the cuddliest kinds] and marsupials, Tunnocks are a bit like edible cryptocurrency here, the cocktail menu was written by AI and is therefore nonsense, and lots of other quirky things that even I don't understand the origin of!

I also want to explain to newcomers that while we usually try to have fun here, the Bluestocking is also a place to bring troubles to share.

In the course of the last thread, a family tragedy befell one of our number, and to let her know we are sending love and support, a ship - a reference to her username- often appears in the background, and sometimes we show our continued support by posting Flowers💙Flowers.
Just so you know that there is an important meaning to the ship and the flowers and heart...

Yes, much love to all having a hard time, and particularly for dear Swashy and daughter.

I would like to reassure those for whom Tunnocks are not the dream food that many other options, including early summer salads full of fresh leaves and flowers and lot and lots of cheese are also available. And limitless buttered toast. And rashers and eggs and puddings and sausages. And marmalade. And TEA. And none of it will ever make you fat, or even give you indigestion.

jbiscuits · 02/06/2025 20:11

Newbie here (although long time lurker and occasional poster on these boards!)

Just stopping in to buy whichever one of you is currently sticking their head above the parapet in my local FB groups a drink!

Having recently been diagnosed as Coeliac, limitless buttered toast would be the thing of dreams right now DeanElderberry

DeanElderberry · 02/06/2025 20:18

me too @jbiscuits - not coeliac, but I am allergic to wheat and the gluten-free stuff just isn't the same.

sorry, where are my manners - WELCOME to the Bluestocking.

Greetings.

Your toast has arrived.

Alas you didn't explicitly explain to the gerbils that a plate would also be required!
