Thank you for the new thread, Cake.

And welcome to anybody who wants to pop into everybody's local - the Bluestocking is magical that way, it's within easy popping in distance for everybody, the booze is great but doesn't make you officially drunk, the delicious cakes contain neither damaging sugars nor calories.. you get the message.

It is staffed by a team of very cute and friendly rodents - no not that kind, the cuddly kind like gerbils and quokkas - though if there were that kind of rodent in the Bluestocking, they would be talented and charming, and of course fastidiously clean.

The only thing that is in short supply in the Bluestocking is reality - it sometimes makes an appearance, because sometimes real life intervenes, but we usually keep it at bay with flights of fancy.

New Stockingers always welcome!

FuzzyPuffling · 14/12/2024 07:43

Hello all.

DeanElderberry · 14/12/2024 08:38

Hello Bluestockings.

Today I will do some Christmassing - I did light some lights yesterday, and my nice chimney men cut the top off the variegated holly that was closing in on the electric wire, so if anyone wants some of that, feel free.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/12/2024 08:54

Morning all! Anyone need a brew?BrewBrewBrewBrewBrewBrew

FuzzyPuffling · 14/12/2024 09:51

Yes please Errol. A coffee would go down a treat.

DeanElderberry · 14/12/2024 10:00

I have had five mugs of tea, so will take a little pause while I go to the village shop. Telepathically convey anything you need by way of messages, and assume I'll bring them back.

lcakethereforeIam · 14/12/2024 10:53

I haven't got time for a brew, thank you. I just popped in to see if anyone could check that @BoiledBeetle isn't left locked in the previous thread like last time? Or possibly the time before.

I hope she's feeling better ❤️

I think she's asleep by the fire in the previous thread.

Wandering in to find respite from holiday busyness. The chair by the fire looks comfy and I’d love a coffee with baileys Brew whilst reading a book. Is there some Christmas music on in the background? That’d be nice as long as it’s not too loud, really dislike too loud music in pubs.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 14/12/2024 11:58

Whew - I made it!

I've had a lovely morning - it's my 60th birthday today, and I had coffee and presents in bed, and shortly dh and I are off to Cairndow, for a seafood feast at the Loch Fyne Oyster bar.

And yesterday, we bought a car! Dh has been thinking about it for months now - our old car is starting to throw up problems, and the garage that services it (which we are tied to by the service contract and wanting to keep it dealer maintained) are a total shower of incompetants, so we decided to switch from Merc to - well, frankly anything else! We went and test drove a Skoda estate yesterday, and it was great, so we should be picking it up back end of this week.

FuzzyPuffling · 14/12/2024 12:00

Hello @DrBlackbird. Nice to see you. No loud music here!
Have you met Dr Magpie? You might have things in common @Magpiecomplex .

Magpiecomplex · 14/12/2024 12:02

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius happy birthday!

FuzzyPuffling · 14/12/2024 12:02

Happy birthday Woley. Have a fab day and yay to a new car too!

Magpiecomplex · 14/12/2024 12:03

And hello to @DrBlackbird! Always happy to meet another highly educated avian!

Chersfrozenface · 14/12/2024 12:09

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius happy cake and, in this case, seafood day.

I'm a bit late - I was busy trying to work out how to change to a Christmas name and ended out having to exit through the bog window. Good job it's a generous size. Please ignore the alarm going off, or take a sledgehammer to it, whichever suits.

And I never did work out the name change thing. Still, I can be Chersfrozenface nickname OnceInRoy, can't I?

MyrtleSingingCarols · 14/12/2024 12:32

Found you!

I went out carolsinging with the capybaras last night (hence the name change) and returned to find Boiled Beetle asleep by the fire (and unwakeable) and everyone else gone!

Fortunately the capybaras cleverly WhatsApped the gerbils (though it may have been via the quokkas and the chinchillas, apparently there's been a bit of a falling out which will probably be resolved shortly), and told us where to come!

There was bit of a argumentconversation about the difference between carols and Christmas songs but we all agreed just to sing our favourites. Hark the Herald Angels was out as it's too high, as was Last Christmas because some people are playing Whamageddon, but O Little Town of Bethlehem and Underneath The Tree were in because they sound lovely.

We then piled into the sleigh and sang Jingle Bells just because. It was, I'm sure, a complete coincidence that the new thread location was revealed as we started singing Driving Home for Christmas.

Anyway we are here now and I'm delighted that the gerbils have divested me of my hat, scarf and gloves, and tucked them away for safe keeping, lit some orange cinnamon scented candles and provided a footstool and a hot toddy for my voice.

You can't get a better welcome than at the Blue Stocking.

FuzzyPuffling · 14/12/2024 12:36

Brilliant Myrtle. Love it. ❤️
