NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #9

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks. The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton started giving evidence on Thursday 6 February.

I don't understood how he says that he's not male, but then insists on this distinction between cis women and trans women. ONLY males can be trans women. If he wasn't male, he wouldn't be a trans woman - he would be a cis woman (by his lights). He can't have it both ways - he can't be a female trans woman.

Honestly, I would just say to him, right lets use the terms cis woman and trans woman, but let's be absolutely clear about what these mean and get him to give a definition.

Even if biology is complicated, as he insisted, using cis doesn't help - because it just moves the problem, as the difference between cis women and any other group becomes complicated.

I doubt that bullying a KC is a good look for him, though.
