NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #6

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 January 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks. The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton started giving evidence on 6 February.

The £200k estimated costs mentioned in the previous thread presumably don't take into account the costs of

• Dr Upton not working while signed off with stress (several times I think)
• Nurse Peggie not working while suspended for a very long time
• Lots of nurses probably feeling incredibly demoralised at having to share changing room with a male person and seeing their colleague treated like this for challenging it.

JR - objects - says it’s important to comply but needed to limit to issues relevant to case
Judge - disagrees, the order didn’t put any such restrictions on relevancy to case - if she thinks the order is too broad then she needs to request change to order
JR - might not need to, I can clear up some mysteries

I should imagine DrU has no idea of what this all means. So just to clarify for him - this is very bad, and it really harms your case

How is JR going to explain the first investigation not being disclosed?
