Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks. The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton started giving evidence on Thursday 6 February.

Just in case people might be interested in supporting other women facing a nightmare Employment Tribunal, there's also Sarah Holdman who was Harassed and Victimised for supporting Women’s Rights. You can find her crowdfunder by searching on those terms.

You couldn't make this shit up if you tried. This male doctor is stating that he is a biological female.
Heaven help us all. How did he pass med school?! Does it have proper accreditation or is it some kind of clown college he attended?

He's absolutely loving the power and control. The woman that is at the fallout of that doesn't matter. He's getting his buzz.

I like doing it, no one can stop me.

Break for lunch back at 2pm

JasmineAllen · 10/02/2025 13:04

Jesus, I'm getting no work done. Thank you all for your hard work typing out this insanity.

He's telling his own story of the emperor's new clothes

HarpyOfACertainAge · 10/02/2025 13:05

A new thread already, that other one filled up quickly. Thanks everyone!

NoBinturongsHereMate · 10/02/2025 13:06

Thanks Ikky, was just about to ask when we resume.

Signalbox · 10/02/2025 13:06

Why has making comparisons become so problematic?
The 2+2=5 is a perfect comparison to TWAW. Women are being forced to pretend that TWAW or risk their employment. it's obviously not a torture situation but it is "do as I say or pay the consequences".

DontStopMe · 10/02/2025 13:07

A question from a non-parent: do you need a doctor to specify whether your child is a boy or a girl when you register the birth?

MarieDeGournay · 10/02/2025 13:07

Thank you so much Nauticant, you are a star!

oldwomanwhoruns · 10/02/2025 13:07

Did the judge just disallow the question about 1984??

Szygy · 10/02/2025 13:07

Thanks, nauticant. I’ve missed a whole thread! 😱 Frantically trying to catch up on TT ready for the post-lunch session.

ApolloandDaphne · 10/02/2025 13:07

I can't keep up!

EasternStandard · 10/02/2025 13:07

Fastest threads ever thanks @nauticant

themostspecialelfintheworkshop · 10/02/2025 13:08

I don't know why the J doesn't ask DU to tell the truth. If he's a 'trans'woman then he's not female - so he's a man in common parlance. If he really thinks he's a woman then he's not part of the trans community is he?

It has no logic.

I wouldn't want this man prescribing or diagnosing for me.

oldwomanwhoruns · 10/02/2025 13:07

Did the judge just disallow the question about 1984??

No. He said let's have lunch and come back to it.

Swashbuckled · 10/02/2025 13:08

Loved the 1984 question.

And I felt there was enough of a pause after it to indicate it sinking in with people just how accurate an analogy it was.

DrBlackbird · 10/02/2025 13:08

"It's her capitulation you sought isn't it?

Beautiful. This ties in with NHS Fife disciplinary against her. They too sought her capitulation with similar bullying tactics.

Definitely need to go to work now. Sad emoji face… or is that a disappointed one?

ToriaB · 10/02/2025 13:08

Didn't JR dismiss the idea that Transwomen are Men as a political or religious belief and heavy emphasis on personal beliefs shouldn't drive behaviour at work when she was questioning SP?

GCITC · 10/02/2025 13:08

DontStopMe · 10/02/2025 13:07

A question from a non-parent: do you need a doctor to specify whether your child is a boy or a girl when you register the birth?

I also wondered this.
