NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #9

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks. The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton started giving evidence on Thursday 6 February.

I don't understand how he can have it both ways. Either he 100% doesn't believe sex exists and therefore can't do his job so should find another profession. Or he does believe sex exists to do his job, and therefore he is selecting when he thinks it matters and when it doesn't.

He's changed the position he's sitting in now for answering NC's questions. Anyone else read it as more confrontational?

I'm v glad Upton is respondent, not just Fife NHS. It might be possible to convince someone TWAW in the abstract, but seeing an actual TW like Upton in the flesh ,stating he is biologically female is a lot harder to believe.

I'm not saying I would or that I think people should BUT I'm surprised someone hasn't lamped him before now

So on one side we have a female victim of sexual abuse wishing the safety and dignity afforded by female changing rooms Vs hurty feels of a male

So women can't have female only spaces unless they approach the board directly - no acknowledgement of the fact that male on female sexual violence is so common that you can automatically assume that there are women who have experienced it on staff and accommodate them without them needing to plead their case for it?

I will say one thing for him. He is a true believer. He has not tripped up once.
