Owen Jones also dismissed everything apart from the stonewall part of the judgement as 'just noise'. Yep the bit where a black lesbian was found to have been discriminated against by her Chambers is 'just noise'

it also blames Allison's lawyers for the dismal state of the bundle!

From Allison on Twitter:

Clarification: the criticism in the judgement about the poor state of the trial bundle is a criticism about Garden Court Chambers. They were responsible for the trial bundle.

Owen Jones has retweeted a Twitter account called A Mere Solicitor that talks about the judgement.

Not only does that account attempt to pin the witness intimidation and disruptive behaviour of the chatroom participants on "GC" people, it also blames Allison's lawyers for the dismal state of the bundle!

So I have a question - wouldn't a real solicitor know that the side putting forward twenty different witnesses was primarily responsible for the evidence bundle?

Is that account just like the TRAs who always turn up here claiming to have a senior job in a field related to whatever topic is under discussion but never actually know anything about it?

I thought that 'A Mere Solicitor' was one of our pals who has frequented these parts before, likes golf and is friends with a certain Doctor? I don't know though, I just always thought that.

#stonewallwins

Congratulations on your glorious victory. 'Our legal advice is wrong and discriminatory and you follow it at your risk' doesn't sound like the greatest win for SW from where I'm standing.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 27/07/2022 15:25

I bet the clerks aren’t just talking about football this morning.

I am not convinced that account is from a real solicitor.

I thought it was a protected term?

ThickCutSteakChips · 27/07/2022 15:26

So is it right that GCC followed advice from Stonewall, this caused them to lose the case against Allison, and now Stonewall are saying 'nowt to do with us, you didn't have to follow our advice, you chose to'....?

Hilarious!!!

Ramblingnamechanger · 27/07/2022 15:28

And also despite various people holding various roles in Stonewall, the organisation seemed quite prepared to sell them down the river, getting them to say they were not reflecting SW views.
interested to see that a certain A.Drummond is variously him/her.

LipbalmOrKnickers · 27/07/2022 15:29

Quoi? I have been hidden for posting a link that I suggested might have been tricky to Google.

That's Owen for you, he is a misogynistic through and through. He doesn't actively hate women I don't think, he just doesn't see them as real people, with needs and desires of their own, who should be listened to.

They are mere 'noise' to him

The person I think you're thinking of is a lawyer, not a solicitor, I think.

TastefulRainbowUnicorn · 27/07/2022 15:30

I am not convinced that account is from a real solicitor.

You'd think a real journalist would be a bit cautious about spreading misinformation from frauds who are misrepresenting themselves.

oh wait lol.

LaughingPriest · 27/07/2022 15:32

Just catching up. Congrats Allison!
For anyone with any stake in SW advising any employer, this was a great outcome in terms of forcing them to say that essentially SW's advice should be taken with a very hard subjective look indeed....

Off to read the judgement/summary. Already enjoyed the bits about the bundle which sounds AMAZING....!

I thinking winning against SW would've been a very high bar. The fact they said 'I trust you'll do the right thing re the terfy barrister' makes it seem obvious they were influencing GCC, but I guess they'd need to have some kind of written evidence that they actually said 'I trust you'll do the right thing, ^otherwise we'll do X, Y and Z to you' - even though the latter was surely implied - to have won that one.

Xenia · 27/07/2022 15:33

The word solicitor can only be used by solicitors (as along with barrister, nurse, doctor etc it is a protected term). Lawyer is not a protected term. I do not know who has used a "Mere Solicitor" and if they are one however.

It might be, but that won't stop an anonymous person claiming it on Twitter.

@TullyApplebottom "Never act on the basis of advice from someone who can’t be sued for getting it wrong is a pretty good rule of thumb."

Very apt. Anyone tempted to pay SW should look at the support SW gave GCC in this tribunal. One very anxious person (and the support team) going all opinions were my own and nowt to do with SW.

If you're so uninterested, why are you posting in a thread about it?
Can you really not understand that many women are interested in our legal rights being threatened? Is that so hard to understand?

TastefulRainbowUnicorn · 27/07/2022 15:43

Who oh why do people bang on and on about all of this trans stuff?!I just don’t get it!what’s so interesting or exciting about it?

Please go to a different thread to do this routine! People are celebrating on this one.

Nothing. Most of us just want our free speech rights back.
