Gah, set my day up to actually access and observe, and child three is now at home vomiting, fucksake! (I mean, 'poor dear' obvs).

I feel your pain. We've just recovered from one of these - which is going around DD2s school like wildfire. I would suggest lots and lots of support TV (which hopefully means you can listen in while they're watching). Pretzels always seemed to help too, when they could face food again. Flat lemonade also good.

BenCooperSuperTrouper · 25/05/2022 09:22

First day I can actually log in to procedures but don’t have access link yet. I only requested it 3 hours ago so have I left it too late?

HairyBum · 25/05/2022 09:22

.

BemoreBen · 25/05/2022 09:23

IANAL but am regularly involved in Advisory Board meetings in my profession. They consume weeks in preparation, I coach participants in active listening and reflective questioning skills as sometimes the subject matter can get contentious and we need it to be constructive (invite to the next training session extended to TW). And after all that they last two hours max. So my admiration goes to all the professionals involved. Apart from the bundle issues. I do a smaller scale version (several hundred pages) for our meeting and there’s plenty of document management software and other tools available, so no excuses there.

On another layer, doing it all of this and in addition having the subject your own and your colleagues actions, making office politics public, and then the awareness of what it must have been like actually living through it. I read Allison’s witness statement. I think she’s a remarkable woman and my admiration only grows daily.

BenCooperisaGod · 25/05/2022 09:23

I am in meetings all day and I AM NOT VERY HAPPY ABOUT IT.

First witness today (I believe) - picking up from his testimony last week:
David Renton - barrister, Garden Court Chambers
www.gardencourtchambers.co.uk/barristers/david-renton/sao
And DR has his own Wikipedia page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Renton
Role in the case: My understanding is that DR was AB’s office roommate (for c10 years), and reported the contents of her telephone conversations to others in the chambers (eg AB’s ‘view' that transwomen are ‘male-bodied’ and should therefore not be in women’s prisons), as he felt they did not fit with ‘chambers values’. On the advice of Mr Lue (another barrister at GCC), DR emailed Michelle Brewer (barrister at GCC at the time) with his concerns about AB’s views.
Bio:
“David Renton specialises in housing, discrimination and employment law. He acts for vulnerable tenants in disrepair possession hearings, and for employees, principally in cases of ordinary or trade union discrimination.
Before being called to the bar, David was an author and historian and subsequently an official of the academics' and lecturers' union UCU specialising in equality law. He now represents clients who are vulnerable, whether through illness, disability or addiction, and has been on the EHRC's [Equality and Human Rights Commission’s] panel of approved counsel.”
"Willing to go the extra mile for the client and argue complex legal points." -LEGAL 500, 2022 (EMPLOYMENT)
"Great attention to detail and appreciation of the nuances of each individual and case." -LEGAL 500, 2021 (EMPLOYMENT)
"Very competent and knowledgeable as well as very committed." -LEGAL 500, 2020
"He has excellent attention to detail and thoroughly analyses the case." -LEGAL 500, 2019
"An up-and-coming junior, who is very thorough and pleasant." [‘pleasant’ - cough cough] -LEGAL 500, 2017

What’s the twitter response to yesterdays insights?

interestingly no recent updates in the news papers.

WallaceinAnderland · 25/05/2022 09:26

I got a 'message blocked' automatic reply. Anyone know why?

Thanks

How long does it take to get online access? Do we think there will be lots of requests today? I sent my request after they finished yesterday, not sure if I should send again this morning.

They sent it pretty much straight away on Monday but it went into my spam so I didn't realise.

I got a holding response which had gone into my spam folder. Said y request would receive prompt attention. I beg to differ, it's been over an hour now...

SallyLockheart · 25/05/2022 09:30

Pulling chair up for today proceedings… this is gripping stuff

Mumsnut · 25/05/2022 09:31

I am out practically all day, gutted

Gabcsika · 25/05/2022 09:32

I have to say, it must be really weird for the QCs and Clerks to be on the other side of the witness box. It really has been quite fascinating to watch. In a way, it really is a shame this isn't being recorded for those studying law at university.

chilling19 · 25/05/2022 09:32

Ok, here we go

nauticant · 25/05/2022 09:32

The non-downloadable hearing bundle seems to be functional. Which I'm hoping bodes well for MB's witness statement.

ickky · 25/05/2022 09:32

It's started, EJ has said there will be 2 hearing rooms, didn't say why. Maybe at capacity?

DR to start.

Waaa?? Michelle and Stephanie both tomorrow now!

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 25/05/2022 09:33

Oh no! Michelle Brewer tomorrow now. I can't watch tomorrow.

Gabcsika · 25/05/2022 09:33

MB has been moved to tomorrow along with SH. They start at 9.00am.

DAMMIT. I have to work tomorrow morning.

Signalbox · 25/05/2022 09:34

Isn't MB is today now?

Mumsnut · 25/05/2022 09:34

<<guiltily pleased>>

Signalbox · 25/05/2022 09:34

Oh OK she's been moved again.

LipbalmOrKnickers · 25/05/2022 09:34

So today DR, DDM, C.Cronin(sp?) and someone else I think?

WomensLandArmy · 25/05/2022 09:35

Are you allowed to send the access pin to us, or are they unique to each user? (NOT techy minded her, but do understand Twiiter)
