He was so angry he was on the point of saying bullshit or similar. Checked himself, said I can't use that word and came up with fantasy.

tabbycatstripy · 24/05/2022 12:59

‘Do you think he thinks this is lost?’

No. I think he knows if he wins he did a bad thing.

EJ’s cat making an appearance at the end there

Oh no, I missed it.

Is Colin Cook next?

Beautiful cat

Motorina · 24/05/2022 13:01

I closed too soon! I missed the cat!

Who is up this afternoon?

pardonmytits · 24/05/2022 13:04

Toddler napping, all caught up. What a horrid angry little man TW is. Missed the cat though, bah!

Lougle · 24/05/2022 13:05

Could someone explain what the issue is with the bundle/witness statements today, please? How does MF's withdrawn application change things? I haven't been able to listen much today, sadly.

Penguintears · 24/05/2022 13:05

Also sad to have missed the cat 😾

ifIwerenotanandroid · 24/05/2022 13:06

For fans of cats making workplace video appearances, have you seen the Vicar's cat? Hang on, over to twitter...

twitter.com/TheVicarageCat

Lewis sadly went OTRB, so the Vicar now has Teddy, a Bengal kitten. He plays & climbs about in her Compline videos. Her cats also sing/sang. If you're not into the CofE don't worry, it's all just lovely. Do take a look.

Mollyollydolly · 24/05/2022 13:07

These people are horrific. They are human rights lawyers. I actually feel physically sick listening to them. I thought I knew so much about this issue, but this tribunal has actually made me frightened .. people like this embedded in our politics, the NHS, education, the civil service. It's actually terrifying.

BarryStir · 24/05/2022 13:10

My cat once made an appearance in a court hearing on MS Teams. It was getting towards the end of the day, proper biccies and juice time, and my cat decided it was time for her to be fed and never mind what I was doing. Jumped on my desk and smacked me right across the face with her paw. Everyone in the hearing saw it but nobody said a word.

All the links to the various bundle's and all witness statements do not work. They do not know why.

I think Mayas request was withdrawn. I think she asked for permission to publish some of the material from the statements/bundles.

How can the witnesses keep getting more and more reprehensible

Honestly his anger was palpable, astonishing. None of these people seem capable of self reflection. I know lawyer is a job that attracts a lot of ego and an above average number of psychopaths, but honestly I work with lawyers all the time and I’d never have considered that they could behave like so many have this week in evidence.

Also one important rule of giving evidence is that you answer the questions, you don’t ask them. I guess when you’re used to being on the other side it’s tricky but you’d think they’d catch themselves on a little bit.

Isn't it just. You will see that Holbrook prevailed with his appeal.

jonholb.com/2022/03/28/speaking-freely-just-got-a-bit-easier/

And that the BSB has had to pay damages to Holbrook.

The Bar Standards Board, which regulates barristers in England and Wales, has paid undisclosed damages to Jon Holbrook, a former practising barrister who was fined by it last year.

rozenberg.substack.com/p/regulator-acted-irregularly?s=r

I find his political allegiance journey from Communist to centre-right Conservative interesting.

Have builders in fixing some damp, internet keeps cutting out and I've missed EJ cat 😫

Did you have to get up & feed her?

Thank you, so it isn't an issue in law or the ruling EJ made, just a tech error?

I do not see how Michelle Brewer can possibly live up to her supporting acts.

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 24/05/2022 13:15

Damn. I missed the cat too but I see I called the breed type based on its miaow so I get extra tribunal spotter points for that.

It is. The almost casual, underlying misogyny which permeates society, is massively exposed by situations like this.

They have to answer the questions. They have to account for their actions and the thoughts which led to them.

And it's all floating up in the air in big, damning speech bubbles dripping with sexism and arrogance.

Their misogyny is so ingrained, they didn't even know they were exercising it. And now someone showing them, in black-and-white, exactly how their thoughts are anti-women is coming as a shock.

Having to actually label their own unconscious prejudice is making them very angry.

This is why feminism should be taught in schools. All the reasons why women are thought of as lesser than and how that manifests itself.

Nice fresh thread for this afternoon.

I think I said this on an earlier thread but I suspect what is at issue here is that this tribunal is challenging their very deeply held beliefs that they are good people. Honourable warriors of justices for the dispossessed and underrepresented.

It's striking to the very heart of their sense of sense. Which is why they are so very very angry.
