@EmpressaurusKittyit was my old pal @tigerdriveriiwho turned up on my behalf to watch him stand there dressed in black and white as requested …

RaininSummer · 27/03/2025 22:42

Happy 25th. I wish Mumsnet (and the internet) had been around 40 years ago when I met my ex and had never heard of red flags.

RhannionKPSS · 27/03/2025 22:42

Happy birthday Mumsnet!!! Thank you and long may you continue to inform and entertain us ❤️ 🥂

Differentstarts · 27/03/2025 22:43

Number 2 title cracked me up 🤣🤣🤣

Direwolfwrangler · 27/03/2025 22:46

Screaming at the Sistine Chapel was a maternity leave highlight for me:

IdaPrentice · 27/03/2025 22:49

What about "I'm Angela Hernandez" - I can't remember the title of that one, but it was one of those threads that just got funnier and funnier.

ShowOfHands · 27/03/2025 22:51

I knew 15 exactly and roughly remember several more.

I need a hobby.

Some of my favourite threads weren't funny. PinkPeter and the walks for ggglimpopo's lovely girl Maud and EMIN and Aillidh. Too many sad ones. Those are the ones I remember. And BoF. Always BoF.

Some bloody funny threads mind. I've been here for 20 odd years.

JockTamsonsBairns · 27/03/2025 23:05

Happy Birthday Mumsnet 🎂 🥳

I've been here 18 years. I googled something when I was pregnant with DS, and MN came up.
I had a bit of a nosey around the site, and here were are.
DS turns 18 this year, and it's been a part of my life since.

Looking forward to re-reading the old classic threads.
There's one that I remember from years ago, about M&S furniture for 50p - does anyone else remember that one?

PorkPieandPickle · 27/03/2025 23:29

Penis beaker for all time laughs 😂

i cannot remember the title but there was a classic about a woman watching a young couple living in their car through her window? Several updates over a few days. It fascinated me at the time. Can’t find it though 😖

Pinkypup · 27/03/2025 23:32

Penis beaker introduced me to mumsnet!!

whynotwhatknot · 27/03/2025 23:59

Pudmyboy · 28/03/2025 00:00

There was a thread on AIBU, I think, about camping, I think, where the end of the AIBU sentence was a peculiar jumble of nonsense words, that all the subsequent posters ran with and included in their responses. Had me crying with laughter!
If anyone knows it I would love to see it again!

TanteRose · 28/03/2025 00:08

Happy Birthday MN FlowersGin

I knew about half of those! And vaguely remembered a few more…

I’ve been here since 2006 - one of my favourite long-running threads was the From Our Own Correspondent (FOOC!) on the Living Overseas board.
they were epic - vignettes of life from literally all corners of the world, really showing how far flung and international MN is Smile

I hoped center parcs would be on here.

"Take it up the arse at Center Parcs" had me absolutely howling Grin

I had clean forgotten about Brian from Hull. Or maybe it's now a suppressed memory. I also loved the thread where the man came to teach MNers how to internet properly. "I just bashed them with my tits and hoped for the best"

I loved that one, makes me laugh even now.

I also enjoyed Balonz in Baby names, sometimes the troll threads are the funniest.

Happy 25th Birthday!

Secondsop · 28/03/2025 00:28

I can’t remember what the thread title was but “snapped and farted” makes me laugh whenever I think of it.

BIWI · 28/03/2025 00:30

One of my favourite threads has sadly disappeared. No-one, including MNHQ has been able to track it down. It was the one about how we transported horses to the Olympics. It was so funny.

But there was a whole series of threads relating to No. 6 in the list on the MNHQ timeline, Fighting sexist advertising:

Mumsnet successfully challenged a £1.25m billboard campaign that declared, in one of a series of deliberately provocative statements intended to demonstrate the power of outdoor advertising, that "career women make bad mothers." The poster was replaced with one that said "Sexist advertising is bad for business."

It was a truly hilarious run of threads, brutally taking the piss out of Gary (and his agency) who had created these truly dreadful ads. Most/many of our posts got deleted, because Gary really didn’t like us taking the piss out of him, or suggesting that he might have a too-small manhood.

SnowFrogJelly · 28/03/2025 00:53

Love all the classics but I think my fave must be OMG think my mugshot must be pinned to the counter in Boots.. makes me laugh every time

Jux · 28/03/2025 02:59

The ones I shall always remember are the heroin-addicted baby and the proud grandfather skipping about in elephantine fashion. Both were extraordinary and delightful in completely different ways.

Onautopilot · 28/03/2025 03:27

I can't remember all the details, but the one that had me engrossed for days was the family whose holiday home had been 'borrowed' and the trespassing family wouldn't leave without compensation . Ate all the food etc, big electricity bills. A neighbour/ caretaker gave the interlopers his key and was charging rent I think?

grinandslothit · 28/03/2025 03:30

Happy Birthday Mumsnet! I remember most of them. Going to enjoy reading them again.

Bernadinetta · 28/03/2025 06:25

Rivers of sweetcorn anyone?
