NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #9

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks. The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton started giving evidence on Thursday 6 February.

They ignited SP because that is easier than dealing with a TRA. They hoped Sandie would just put up with it but they didn't count on the resilience and fight in a Scottish working class woman

If I walked into his hospital next week and found that it was him that was going to treat me I would actually just leave

DU is a good witness in that he is on the ball, and is managing to turn his answers to whatever question he is asked into something he wants to say.

His performance with the ideological aspects are stronger than when discussing the personal issues.

Can we not mention the names of observers in the hearing here, please, there is no need.

What does the case need to show here? That he felt entitled to be in the CR because [something about biology being a nebulous] and that he would continue to do so, and that he wasnt prepared to make any accomodations despite clear indication of discomfort from a woman because [entitlement].

I’m surprised he didn’t start saying that height is a social construct and on a spectrum and he identifies as being 5ft 3. He knows he can lie about his sex in court but can’t get away with lying about other facts.

I'm supposed to be working on an essay for uni. I had planned to have the tribunal on in the background whilst I worked but he is making me so angry I have done nothing!
