Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks. The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton started giving evidence on Thursday 6 February.

Would he even keep out of a 'cis woman's CR'?

Boiledbeetle · 10/02/2025 14:43

Many of my female colleagues consider me a woman

NO THEY DON'T

eulittleb831 · 10/02/2025 14:43

consider me to be a woman - he isn't. end of

AlexP24 · 10/02/2025 14:43

argghh .. he is driving me up the wall.

CriticalCondition · 10/02/2025 14:43

DU A female only space is not a cis woman only space. Otherwise wed call it a cis women only space.

Mollyollydolly · 10/02/2025 14:43

I don't think I've ever heard a more controlling man in my life. It's horrific. I'm becoming fixated on what his marriage must be like.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/02/2025 14:43

No one apart from genderists use the TRA nonsense term "cis" - that's why they don't specify.

seXX · 10/02/2025 14:43

Ooh, did he just say we can label the changing room as "cis women only" and he'll stay out?! I hate cis but if it works, we should use it!

myplace · 10/02/2025 14:44

Good job he’s behind a screen, I’d be sitting on my hands.

PachacutisBadAuntie · 10/02/2025 14:44

X number of women 😂

EasternStandard · 10/02/2025 14:44

Gtf

SidewaysOtter · 10/02/2025 14:44

No, we wouldn't use the phrase "cis women" because there's NO SUCH FUCKING THING. There is no distinction between "woman" and "cis women".

I don't think this is good for my blood pressure <turns off light and lies down>

Greyrockin · 10/02/2025 14:44

If we all had a shot every time he uses the word "cis" we'd all be pissed by now...

ArabellaScott · 10/02/2025 14:44

NC - we can not assume that women have what you call 'gc' views, recognise a distinction between male and female views

BU - I wouldn't say they were GC views. Not only GC views make a difference between male and female bodies, a nebulous term I don't recognise

SameyMcNameChange · 10/02/2025 14:44

OH MY GOD. He just won't recognise male and female.

myplace · 10/02/2025 14:44

Make and female bodies nebulous terms…

VeggPatch · 10/02/2025 14:44

How can a DOCTOR think that "male and female bodies" is a "nebulous term"

CheekySnake · 10/02/2025 14:44

A medical doctor is saying, on camera, that he does not believe in and cannot recognise the difference between male and female bodies.

desiringtoremainsane · 10/02/2025 14:44

'Male and female is a nebulous term that I do not recognise' 😦

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/02/2025 14:45

Male and female bodies, "a nebulous term that I do not recognise". An NHS doctor ladies and gentlemen

mzdemeanour · 10/02/2025 14:45

desiringtoremainsane · 10/02/2025 14:44

'Male and female is a nebulous term that I do not recognise' 😦

I'm just banging my head on my desk now

ArabellaScott · 10/02/2025 14:45

BU - I'd agree that a number of women view transwomen as men. In any population probably a number of peopel who don't recognise the validity of transwomen as women

NC - common to believe sex is real and matters

BU - biological sex is nebulous term that doesn't mean anything

Shortshriftandlethal · 10/02/2025 14:45

Appalonia · 10/02/2025 14:40

He won't concede anything!

But he has conceded that he knew some people had an issue with trans people in women's facilities. -and he clearly identifies as being a trans person.

MarieDeGournay · 10/02/2025 14:45

I think the use of the word 'cis' should be challenged in this context - what does it mean? does it have any legal standing? if there's no agreed definition, is it appropriate in a tribunal? should he just stop bloody well using it😠

bumbledenbarsk · 10/02/2025 14:45

Dickhead is all I've got.
