@Cailleach1 maybe you don't have two brains like SC? If so then don't beat yourself up for not having his incredible grasp of facts.

I mean is appears to be facts about Mariah Carey rather than this case but who are we to judge him

There was a point on the last thread about what happens if you ignore the ‘twitterstorm’.

Im inclined to suggest it blows itself out if you hold a firm reasonable line. That’s why they hate us here at mumsnet so much. We’re mothers. We know how to handle a toddler tantrum in public. You can’t embarrass us by shouting how uncool, unprogressive, and old we are; for we have raised teenagers. We hold safeguarding as sacred. And we know how to offer a helping hand when we see another woman struggling.

no wonder we terrify them.

👏👏👏

I WFH but have been asked to go into the office on Wednesday. Wednesday of all days! Not a happy bunny.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 23/05/2022 17:25

Thanks to everyone for the live reactions- it brings it to life.

WinterTrees · 23/05/2022 17:35

I wonder what they find to chat about Mariah Carey? I have to admit I don't follow her career closely, but is she even putting new material out to discuss these days? Or would the chat between SC and his friend be more along the lines of 'I wonder what Mariah is having for tea tonight?' - that sort of thing?

Pyjamagame · 23/05/2022 17:35

Thanks for the new thread ikky and the witness timetable nauticant

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 23/05/2022 17:37

That is a good point. Britney would be better conversation material for two gay men. Mariah not so much so. Unless one or both are super fans.

That part of his testimony was laden with stereotypes. I don't think we could include that in the film; we'd get complaints. Possibly even a Twitter storm.

Birdsweepsin · 23/05/2022 17:38

Who is this Hugh that she wants for Christmas, probably

Maybe about how MC gets burned on food off her pots and pans?

They'd certainly be discussing that ahead of any issues in connection with their chambers or livelihoods.

Ameanstreakamilewide · 23/05/2022 18:03

Poolside, too - I imagine.

triphopaway · 23/05/2022 18:06

If she were on MN, she'd know the answer is sex lube and a fish slice.

Likewise disgruntled that MB is Wednesday.

I've lots of empathy for Maya Forstater in re: the bundle. In times to come, unless you were present for the tribunal, you'd disbelieve much of what you were told that the GCC and SW witnesses said. The bundle and their individual WS would lend credence to that representation of what they said. Without the bundle, it would seem utterly absurd that so many leading QCs spoke and behaved in this way.

MB on Wednesday doesn't work for me either.

oviraptor21 · 23/05/2022 18:29

Well I have almost the entirety of thread 10 to catch up on so I'll be a while! However just had to express my appreciation for this comment:

@CatsOperatingInGangs · Today 09:40

BC seems refreshed and bouncy this morning. Like a legal tigger.

TeenPlusCat · 23/05/2022 18:31

placemarking onto new thread.

Chrysanthemum5 · 23/05/2022 18:37

I wonder if MN have an idea of how many people are reading these threads? Would be interesting to gauge how many people they are reaching

MN should be able to tell that very easily, I'd have thought.

I'm not sure if this answer is serious! Does it work?

Also you run the risk of a raised eyebrow from your other half if they walk in while you are vigorously scrubbing...

everythingcrossed · 23/05/2022 18:51

Thanks for the precis, @ickky 👏

Pyjamagame · 23/05/2022 18:53

All this talk of football brings to mind this clip from the IT Crowd by Graham Linehan

Redshoeblueshoe · 23/05/2022 18:54

thanks for the new thread.

OvaHere · 23/05/2022 18:55

Caught up on todays threads. Not impressed with Stephen Clark and his attitude to women, glad I didn't have to listen to that live. Funny how many of the people who build careers on human rights are only really bothered about the rights of men.

Can't follow tomorrow either but pleased to see I might be able to catch some of Michelle Brewer on Weds as it happens.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed today.

Xenia · 23/05/2022 18:58

The point someone mentioned above had been said in court that why could one barrister tweet about Palestine and yet Allison B was pulled up over hers is a very good one. I think there is a set of standard views a group of people who I might call the woke left or whatever else you want to call them, used to be called champagne socialists, have and most epople in the group have the same views on most things - they vote Remain, they vote Labour, they are keen on trans rights even if that messes around with rights of women, they always support Palestine over Israel - it is a kind of echo chamber of one right view. They hang out with other people with all those same views and feel they are superior to everyone who is different but pretend to be kind and understanding and inclusive. They are what I call the woke left as opposed to the liberal left. I have more time for the liberal left than the woke left. That would be why Palestine views are fine as they tick the right box whereas Allison B's begin off script in the London intelligensia group think is not expressing the correct view. It is all very Animal Farm really and a pity we have come to this.
