Imagine having a friend with whom you only had two topics of conversation. Three if you count swimming. And in spite of you both having interesting jobs, you never discuss any aspect of them in any way. You stick to Mariah, Drag Race and swimming. Just those three.

Absolutely fucking unbelievable.

Ameanstreakamilewide · 23/05/2022 16:01

An adorable smile from BC.

Can anyone off the top of their head remember who were HoC at the time and who are now? I don't think Liz was HoC at the time was she?

MonkeypoxThread · 23/05/2022 15:54

Am I showing my age or did anyone else think immediately of this?

Yep, me too, monkeypox, and I’d even saved the image to post as well, but you beat me to it!

ickky · 23/05/2022 16:01

Liz Davies starting now.

Soul destroying to think men like CS are getting a say on women's privacy.

Yes! And they are 'right on' they think they are doing us all a favour.

ickky · 23/05/2022 15:55

Yes. 😁

I tried to stream it recently, but it was no where to be found.

Try ebay for DVDs.

Chrysanthemum5 · 23/05/2022 16:02

Are we not getting the E numbers now?

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 23/05/2022 16:02

Made a witness statement correction for 'elegance'

WookeyHole · 23/05/2022 16:02

Sorry this has probably been asked before but I've only recently been able to get in.

Why are they offered oath or to affirm? What's the difference?

MonkeypoxThread · 23/05/2022 16:03

Also....

Fucking DRAG RACE

HmmHmmHmmHmm

One is swearing to almighty god. The other one is for heathens.

Oh fucking hell I forgot to NC back damn it

Religion. Swear is on the Bible / Quran.

I agree Mr Hfuhruhurr.

Was it just me who thought of Zaphod Beeblebrox?

Liz Davies email at B695 = E783 is well worth a read. Far more sensible that much of the garbage flying around among the GCC barristers.

I’m assuming the oath is for those who are happy to make a religious declaration, wookey. I don’t have a faith, so I’d be affirming if I ever had to testify in a court (which I never have done).

IDidntKnowItWasAParty · 23/05/2022 16:06

I believe that the joint Heads of Chambers at GCC at the relevant time were:
Leslie Thomas QC
Judy Khan QC
Marc Willers QC

Henry Blaxland QC was Joint Head of Chambers until Jan 2017

Chrysanthemum5 · 23/05/2022 15:56

Exactly @Olderbadger1 so we have to disclose trauma in order to be allowed any privacy or dignity

Yes, and presumably the child that is a victim of CSA and is too terrified to disclose to these men who are deciding how much trauma is enough trauma just has to deal.

Fucking wankers.

It doesn't work. It's either single sex spaces (and a third space, for trans people who don't feel happy in the space of their sex) or not.

What about Muslim women or orthodox Jewish women? Or are they not very 'inclusive' when it comes to religion?

Chrysanthemum5 · 23/05/2022 16:06

I do hope LD didn't turn against Allison - she seems straightforward and I'd like to like her

Lougle · 23/05/2022 16:07

LD seems very sensible so far.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 23/05/2022 16:00

Me too, though I prefer All of Me.

But DH & I do still use, "It's pronounced azaleas" & "Give me a sign... anything..." - are they from 2 Brains?

Yes, I think so - watched it again not long ago (not really something to discuss on the feminist board Grin as it's quite misogynistic but still hilarious!)

Emotionalsupportviper · 23/05/2022 16:09

theemperorhasnoclothes · 23/05/2022 15:28

How much trauma? Does S Clark get to decide? Does being leered at in the street and groped on public transport from the age of 11 count?

I was just thinking that there is barely a woman in the world who hasn't at least been groped, catcalled, leered at or propositioned.

For most of us there has been something worse.

For a lot of us, there has been something MUCH, MUCH worse.
