Well done, bo, MN wouldn't let me upload the screenshot.

botemp · 24/03/2021 17:29

Also, before my fried brain forgets, the sleeveless t-shirt also looked like a really great engineered fit, they looked especially good on the Thai woman.

MN has been weird lately quirky, I feel the first pic should be the standard response to anyone sending you an unsolicited dick pic Halo

🤣 If I can upload it. I seem to remember it was a very strange kids program, and I grew up with 70s kids TV!

Plumo have now sent me 2 emails showing me those writers pants...

Floisme · 24/03/2021 18:58

But presumably no discount quirky?

Is Bits and Bobs still going on CBeebies? Asking for a friend.

bo thanks for those YouTube links. I thought I'd made my choices but I'm now totally befuddled. Love the shape of those dolman sleeve shirts but not the colours or the collar. And I'm still drawn to that silk skirt, even though I now know it's mostly polyester and I don't get enough wear out of the skirts I've got already....

quirkychick · 24/03/2021 19:16

No, no discount code. Plumo don't generally discount that much in their sales either Sad.

banivani · 24/03/2021 19:42

The socks were incidental but serendipitous Grin I'm leaning towards keeping the coat -- light and warm, long!!!, good colour, actually good fit (shoulder seams in a good place for once). Your grubby (sic, pun) screenshots have not dissuaded me! But now that I'm typing I realise I didn't try it on with a jumper (so stupid) so I'll do that first. One size up would be massive so if it doesn't fit with a jumper it's going back.

Those youtube videos are a genius find, I'd never have thought of that! I'm half-way through the Asahina one, and am blown away by how adorable she is. I did giggle at how amazed they are at all!the!colours! you can choose from but they did show a lot of details that made me really interested in the clothes, after just having settled in comfortable dismissal. The jeans look great but I agree Bo that they're not meant for curves. Sad I did look at the men's because the sizes are larger, but I don't think that'd help. I am oddly drawn to the sweatpants and corresponding jumper, which surprised me. She modelled the dolman shirt and I can see why it's a massive hit.

Sadly, in general, I agree in thinking a lot of those details and cuts are a little lost if you're not slim or more angular (I'll be watching the Thai video next).

Nonetheless I'm wondering if I should transfer a load of money into my account and throw myself on the ordering button tomorrow anyway! Based on your reviews and general Uniqlo sizing madness one has to order loads of different sizes Angry

botemp · 24/03/2021 20:08

Yes Asahina is adorable but under no circumstances turn that video in a drinking game whenever you hear Kawaii as you'll die of alcohol poisoning 🙈 I like how informative they are despite not understanding a word of it, but it really helps with these clothes to see them on.

I agree that the sweat suit is surprisingly interesting. I need to check the materials, I may throw in the joggers as they have a really interesting cut but I'll size up, probably.

OP posts:
banivani · 24/03/2021 20:28

It's polyester basically IIRC from the Singapore Uniqlo site. 87% or something. So I'm thinking a bit scuba-like in look but (apparently) more cotton in feel?

Hehe kawaiiiiii galore alright, but then suddenly very serious when looking at cuts. Nice mix! But then maybe it's like Eurovision - it's better when you don't understand the lyrics.

XingMing · 24/03/2021 20:31

Loving the Japanese Asahina... she looks at clothes like I do, and her choices are the ones I would be picking. Sadly, I shall not look as wonderful. Being 40 years older, and not the same size. But I shall log in hopefully....

XingMing · 24/03/2021 20:35

I already want the sweatshirt and hoody, regardless of the fabric. DS bought one from China which he hated that I have worn quite a lot this year. The drape is good to great. And it's lovely over a cotton shirt.

botemp · 24/03/2021 21:23

I've done a bit of extra digging and the Asian sizes are indeed a size down. Or is it up? Confused Anyhow, their medium is our small, so I'm guessing the sizing is similar to last time, very oversized in your own size, size down for a closer to the body fit.

Floisme · 25/03/2021 08:16

In the end I stuck with my original picks: The silk/cotton crew sweater and V-neck cardigan (the slightly longer length one). Both navy. Sweater in small only and the cardigan in small and medium, to try a slouchier fit. In a real shop with mirrors and changing rooms, I might well have made different choices but that's modern shopping for you I guess. Through the checkout by 8.03 - a minute faster than last time!

XingMing · 25/03/2021 08:16

Woohoo! As of 8.13, I bought the last hoodies in white and navy... and a cardigan may have dropped into the bag too. I thought about jeans, but I have enough jeans right now. It was a bit frenzied.

banivani · 25/03/2021 08:18

Blue joggers, blue hoodie with zip, blue oversized shirt, all in L. Then I just logged off! They charge for returns now "to encourage a more sustainable mindset" do you know what else encourages that? CONSISTENT FITS.

Floisme · 25/03/2021 08:18

I was thinking of you as I legged it past the hoodies Xing

Floisme · 25/03/2021 08:20

Yeah consistent fits and real shops. Have my first harrumph of the day Uniqlo. You're welcome.

Nice work bani

botemp · 25/03/2021 08:22

You beat me by a minute Flo but I had to do an extra authentication step now required by the EU for online transactions

I stuck with my list too, well the most recent one, anyhow. I got two linen dresses, different colour and sizes, the dolman shirt in white (I debated the black, but I just don't see me wearing it) and the oversized t-shirt in white, I thought it existed in khaki too but I think I just misinterpreted the grey in one of the videos.

OP posts:
Floisme · 25/03/2021 08:26

I was nearly swayed by your oversized T recommendation yesterday bo but I decided to stay focused.

botemp · 25/03/2021 08:29

Obviously I'll be the exception to the rule and it will look shit on me...

I have one of the longer v-neck cardigans from the AW20 collection and I really like it for layering.

From this collection I picked up one of the grey sheer ribbed tops which I really liked in the lookbook and a stripey shirt with the darker sleeves (which tbh I had been mulling over since they did something v similar in the last collection).

banivani · 25/03/2021 08:44

I had the dolman shirt in black too in my basket but I realised I was just being seduced by the shape of it on thin people and I wouldn't wear a black shirt, so I removed it.

All the things I added had the "1 item remaining" warning on them, so I was surprised I actually got them, I was assuming I'd be told they'd gone to someone else when I went to pay. But we'll see.

I'm really looking forward to seeing these things on you all now. And I'm fretting because there's a high risk that blue is not going to be great on me. They could've shoved a khaki option in there, couldn't they, but no.

Floisme · 25/03/2021 08:47

I got that stripey shirt in the autumn Pigeon - in the end, after much dither and delay, I sent it back because it felt a bit like an office shirt and working life is drawing to a end for me so I'm trying to avoid buying those kinds of clothes. It was very nice though and I was even tempted to have another go at it this time. Good to hear that about the v-neck cardigan

botemp · 25/03/2021 08:48

The 1 item remaining is a bit disingenuous, it just means you're only allowed one item in that colour and size, it's not their actual stock levels.

Morning shoppers!

I also stuck to my list - silk and cotton crew in navy and blue, silk-blend parka, dolman sleeve shirt in white and the white linen dress. I ordered in all in M though, so I'm a bit nervous about fit now. My logic was that the models were wearing small and I'm usually one size up from that for a similar fit since they're the same height. Do we think that they're wearing the asian S? I don't mind about the parka and shirt, but I'd like the crew necks reasonable fitted. To add to the confusion we have this gem "+J sizing differs slightly from normal UNIQLO items" and "Designed to run about one size larger than last year’s high gauge cashmere knit". Maybe I should get the S. Feck's sake.

Some of the descriptions are bizarrely phrased as well "Features meticulous attention to taping and other details befitting the new generation of sweats."

I guess we'll see. I returned the SR black dress. Thanks for talking sense into me.
