Re: my trousers - if they had been available in a shop I would have gone in and tried them on about six times (obv also I’d have been able to try on different sizes) before deciding if I wanted to commit. Then I’d have bought them and still had the opportunity for one final think at home with my other clothes. Now that whole thinking period gets taken away from me, my first try-on is in my home on a return schedule and I feel really rushed. Online shopping is not my jam!

I should take a photo of my shoe collection for you all to laugh at, then you will see that I have no cool shoes. Nor clean ones I think, I am a lazy person.

Duvet, I love olive green, I’m really pleased it’s quite available at the moment, such a useful basic colour.

Glad to have Diana Vreeland in our side. Getting down my stairs is not easy right now, and definitely hazardous to clothes... the stairwell is being re-painted and we have to squeeze past the ladders and staging.

bani, I agree the colour of those trousers is great, those lovely warm tones are so you. On the last thread, I said I had a cashmere cardi the same pale green/yellow as the one red bought, in a similar way it is a great colour to bring a "lift" to neutrals, yy, very good with navy too.

I’m snuggled up in bed and have lazily googled and taken screenshots of my shoe wardrobe. Bear in mind that the booties are the only ones I’m currently wearing. I do have some more things I don’t wear and should sell, including a pair of Tamaris boots with a heel that go clip clop and glide on gravel so I don’t like them. They are burgundy/wine red (dark).

So, two pairs of Kavat boots, shown here in dark brown. The other pair is a dark green so dark they’re almost black. Two pairs of Clark’s Glick Darby in those very styles. One pair of white Kavat sneakers. That’s what I wear!

And is it me or male of certain type, just turn round when they hear a sound of heels ... like expecting not sure what ... makes me 🤢

Maybe Red but sure everyone looks when they hear a clip clop sound ;) I had a colleague who called shoes with that noise grown-up shoes, as in "I'm wearing grown-up shoes today" well I don't want to be a grown-up I want to sneak!

It's a reasonable collection but limits me. I don't like looking down at my feet when I wear wide trousers and seeing those boots. They are just round and plain then. The boots look best with slightly cropped jeans which I never wear ;) They stump my legs in skirts (question is how much I care) because they are not tight enough around the ankle so cut off the leg.

You need more shoes Bani . Sorry, I'm grumpy (stricter lockdown than we've ever experienced now in effect for far longer than antit and my lovely in-country holiday early January now has to be postponed )

Speaking of shoes and more specifically boots, (sorry, again, I'm aware it's not the price point you're looking at, Bani) but I came across this Swedish brand, Anny Nord. I really like the goal digger boots (sold out in my size). I can get the Carré boots in a private sale, I do like them but not a fan of a center seam usually.

I saw some Isabel Marant boots yesterday in my last moment of freedom (had already planned to go out to the shops). I'll post pics later, although there's not that much to see but they had western heels that taper forward and it's quite short so they didn't feel that stable. Don't know if it's just my body or it's supposed to be like that 🤷

Yes, the man who thinks the clacking sounds are made especially for him and therefore must accost you is an odd one. I've always assumed they have a shoe fetish of some kind, they're dwindling in numbers though which confirms my theory that most fetishes are subject to fashion and therefore not fetishes at all (per the psychology definition). The men unhealthily preoccupied with women's nails still win in my book as the most unnerving, much prefer a heel man to them.

Anny Nord haven't popped up on my Facebook ;) so they were new to me. Reading the bio I see they're a Båstad brand. This explains the price point, Båstad-Torekov is a little pocket of holidaying for rich people. They are nice boots, granted, but out of my price point as you say! Their sneakers have a good sale price. Looked at the Goal Digger Tall - isn't it a bit welly? I DON'T KNOW. [weeps] I think I'd like more tightness around the ankle ideally.

Nah, they're too slim and straight in the shaft to be full on wellies. But definitely inspired by. Have you seen these from Ten Points? They sort of look like the Church's ones but I'm not sure how grippy those soles are in Swedish winters but they're Swedish so surely they must have considered it? IME the traditional profile soles often just pack snow in and become hazardous anyhow so maybe these do do the job without risk to life and limbs.

Is Båstad like Saltsjöbaden or is it a different moneyed crowd? I haven't looked at Anny Nord sneakers, will have to go back and take a peak. I saw a load of the ankle boots heavily discounted on the Boozt (Bootz?) Outlet pop up on my Google search. I suspect they're nice shoes when discounted but probably overpriced at full price.

I dunno, don't rate Ten Points. Don't know why I'm prejudiced - have an idea the quality is poor. I trust no shoe manufacturer re: soles. Don't think they consider grippiness much. A snow sole shouldn't be too textured though, you're right - a sole like that is better in mud/wet. If I'm getting taller boots I want them to either go exactly half way up my calf and fit tightly, or hit my kneecap at least. And I think I'd rather not have laces unless they're very outdoorsy. I have a pair of tall DM:s and I think I'm going to sell them. They're not me.

Båstad has Tennis Week so it's a lot of that sort of crowd, yes. I had the opportunity almost 15 years ago to borrow a friend's house and stay there for a few weeks one summer - it was mad, I saw small children with Calvin Klein jeans. Hugh Grant's wife's family have a place in Torekov, which is even posher but in a more old money way. Lovely area though, beautiful beaches.

bani that is a small but perfectly formed shoe collection. I looked long and hard at those trousers. Love, love the colour. I thought the way they were cut (rather than the size) accentuated the hips? Lots of women's trousers are cut that way and I'm sure some people will say why not - this is how women are shaped? Which I cannot argue with. But me, I prefer the cut of a lot of men's trousers which kind of fall straight from the hip and bypass the arse completely. But I find it very hard to spot the difference online, especially as so many models don't have hips anyway, and it's largely why I tend to cling to Cos and Toast for Trousers. But then you don't get on with Cos so that's probably no help whatsoever.

Hate, hate hate the heel clippety clopping.

I think my footwear is either quiet (trainers) or stompy (boots): no clip clopping here . A very minimal, capsule shoe collection, bani. I don't even own shoes any more, just sandals, trainers or boots. Every year, I think I'll get shoes, but this year I needed them less than ever.

I enjoyed that quirky - partly the idea of Queen Victoria as a style icon and partly the reminiscing about Chelsea in its bohemian days. Who would have thought it was once the Left Bank of London?

Although now I think about it, the last time I saw the Left Bank it seemed overrun by designer shops, so maybe it's still apt.

I quite like a clicky shoe. I had an old boyfriend who wore the most gorgeous expensive oxfords that clicked beautifully and I found them so attractive on our walks to work.

Though there were some of those type of men who would turn on the sound to see him behind them and me in a pair of trainers as we lived too far from work and I usually carried my office heels in my bag.

We also used to put thumbtacks in the soles of our school shoes and click clack everywhere which went down well with the staff.

Flo, I don't understand what you mean about men's trousers? I haven't tried on men's trousers since before I had children and grew out of my husband's size once and for all. How can they bypass the arse?

Thank you for kind words about my shoe collection ;) but I do take Bo's point about a certain variety being lacking. I'm not succeeding with wearing skirts or dresses for example, everything becomes top heavy and my legs go stumpy in what I've got, since there's just a lot of coat and clothes above and then two lollipop sticks with either disproportionally small shoes at the end or chelsea boots that cut my leg into bits.

Pressed too soon. Duvet, love the thumbtacks story. The things we do as youngsters - I don't know if youngsters these days do similar things, they have more money I think and just get the real deal!

My first pair of proper heels were very noisy, I adored them but I was 10, I think, and only allowed to wear them in the house (I pared them with a mini briefcase stolen from my mother and pretended to be a CEO by moving bits and paper in and out of my briefcase, cause that's all CEOs do, obvs). It was in the Caribbean so all the floors were tiled and it had very high double space vaulted ceilings in most parts so the echo was amazing, especially when going down the stairs (Diana Vreeland would be proud). Probably drove my family mad...

I used to tipex my nails and then decorated them with markers, as did most of my class, don't think anyone uses that anymore, nevermind paint their nails with it. You're right Bani, youngsters today have far more money than we ever did and I say this as a spoilt brat.

For dresses knee high boots definitely make getting dressed with skirts and dresses easier. I've been wearing my Chloe boots loads, I really want at least another pair of boots, preferably two. I'm thinking of just getting an inexpensive black pair because you really can't tell where the money is going on high end ones (though I worry about how comfy they are on my finnicky feet). Attached are the Isabel Marant ones I tried, not sure why I'm sharing, the shop is closed now until end of January, they might stick them online though but as mentioned a bit unbalanced on the heel and I have had some tortuous pairs from IM before so I'm hesitant to hand over the money. But at least you can admire something of my new Céline coat, wearing all black probably not making it all that easy to see.

Also tried on this COS ensemble in green but I wasn't feeling it, too Ms Trunchbull forest ranger on me (is that what they're called in the UK? People in charge of forest management anyhow). I do think someone taller and a really sharp silver bob would look amazing in it though. Or a redhead.

I don't mean I buy men's trousers - although I would if they fitted me It's just I've found women's trousers are often ultra rounded at the arse and hips, whereas men's tend not to be, and that's the shape I look for.
