I have been tres French in my winter clothes, French beret, red Burberry silk and wool scarf, long line black wool cardigan, jacket thing. There is no collar and looks very minimalist.

Nails are always done and I have been wearing lipstick most days. I went to party the other night in a long stretch black pencil skirt and black polo neck, Chanel red 💄.

So I'm doing well I think!! But a basic version, I have no colour and advanced fashion, such as green leather and block colours I will be trying out next year in spring, I just have no more money for clothes right now.

Bonjoir les jolie madames (disclaimer: i did German at school so my French is very dodgy indeed).

I am wearing a navy and white breton t-shirt, black jeans and clashing brown Saucony trail shoes. Paired with my hennaed hair in a sleek pony tail, newly self trimmed fringe, a dab of liquid eyeliner and a sheer red Guerlain lippy (Pour Troubler, Rouge Automatique).

As good as it gets on a Sunday morning!

I should add that i'm at work, i wouldn't be dressed and made up at this time on a Sunday morning otherwise.

I am wearing my dressing gown Grin BUT yesterday I wore my red skinny jeans, oatmeal jumper over a long sleeved black (thermal!) top (the jumper has slits op the side to make it a more tunic-like fit), and my red checked giant triangle scarf, with black ankle boots and red lipstick, and I felt good. Really quite chic, actually. Smile

Also, when I walked the dog, I just swapped my boots for wellies and my smart coat for my wax jacket but kept my red jeans and red lips, and I felt tres country glam. Even le chien behaved better (the fact that it was just me and him helped - all the attention and some ‘work’ makes him a happy lad).

As suggested on the last thread, I have cut my nails short and painted them red. It looks very nice and chic.

Popped into H&M a few days ago and they had lovely soft woolly scarves in typically french colours (light grey and dark grey) at a reduced price of £5. Wore one with my very warm pure wool peacoat that I picked up half price from Superdry last year and my red lipstick (Maybelline's Pleasure me Red)....

I guess this means we've abandoned the last thread. Do I need to copy paste my last lengthy post as that did go into buying like a psycho to save money a bit? Since we all seem to be on budget lockdowns I think it's probably worth chatting on how to utilise this you already have or wear them in a different way. For example I hate cardigans, they're frumptastic on me but with the simple magic of wearing it back to front (remove the label obviously) it's suddenly a very different piece. I also fashion shirts into skirts but that's more a summer thing, and this last summer I went a bit knotting mad with a lot of my clothes.

Meanwhile I'm schlepping around in a vintage Japanese bridal kimono which I use as a dressing gown I shudder to think what the Japanese would make of that. Breakfast is more American with cornmeal buttermilk waffles and a smidge of maple syrup. I'm doing crap at this Parisian thing. Though my hair's a rat's nest that needs washing, my nails are short and unpainted as they are most of the time, and turns out I didn't take enough care taking off my mascara last night (Chanel le volume ultra noir, it's a bitch to get everything) so I have a bit of that morning smokey eye going. So on balance, I'd say I'm halfway there Halo

Wow, you all sound so chic this morning. I'm still in pyjamas (not that well still, but I managed smoky eye makeup yesterday). I am wearing a french, navy wraparound cardi as a dressing gown, though.

I'm definitely up for using clothes I've already got. The last thread had me remembering things I had, that I hadn't worn for ages: black trench, red lipstick, smoky eye, beret... I've rediscovered a large, cherry red, wool scarf with my winter clothes which I'd forgotten about. bo I love the idea of a cardi buttoned up at the back, I did lots of knotted tops last summer too.

So happy to see this new thread this morning 😆
Still in pj's but I did put in an effort yesterday - short, filed nails painted in a neutral colour, navy and white Breton jumper, jeans and my new bright red wool coat. Used my Nars tinted moisturiser (gives a nice glow), and my Mac Red lipstick. Felt very French (in my head!)
Looking forward to reading this new thread!

The nice thing about the back is you get an expanse of skin in a v formation but it's not so low you need to go braless or special bra so it's quite elegant. If it's warm in summer and it's more a breezy linen and/or cotton mix you can just button the buttons around the bra and leave the bottom ones open. It puzzles people sometimes as it's no longer a garment they recognise but it usually ends up with a 'Oh, how clever' rather than 'Weirdo, put your clothes on the right way round!'

Ok, so since I'm becoming entirely too cynical about advent calendars and the rampant commercialism about them, how about I attempt to do an advent version on this thread daily with French/Parisian style hacks that most will be able to do with things we provide already own? I mean we're starting late as it is and I don't know if I'll get that many style hacks out of it but I guess I can supplement it with other non commercial Parisian stuff? Sound like a plan?

I'm such a numpty. We don't really do Christmas in our household, so I'd never really had anything to do with Advent calendars. So I thought an advent calendar was the thing we had at work where you took turns to open the door for a bit of chocolate. So I thought an advent calendar was a bit like a pre Christmas (slightly shit) selection box. I keep seeing posts about an M&S advent calendar, or a Liberty one, and thought 'wow that must be some special chocolate' Blush I never looked at any of the threads, and I don't go Christmas shopping to see anything in store or online to be disabused of this - so it's been quite a revelation that people get ones with actual stuff behind them.
