Alright no gayness, I do think the belief in modernity achieved a lot (as flawed as the concept may be in places), would be interesting to live through that optimism and faith in science and technology to solve all problems of inequality and work towards world peace in a very concrete we can do this way as opposed to the romanticised hippy version.

Here's Peggy by the way, although on the back of pic 3 (or whatever order this shows up as) I think she should get her own spin off board entitled, Well Dressed Women Sitting Majestically

It'll be easy to fill a majestic board!

botemp · 24/03/2021 09:16

No royalty allowed in the Majestic board though, that's cheating. Sorry Lizbeth 😗

No royalty at all? Not even Ma'am Herself?

It took me ages to post that so apologies if it's repeated 17 times.

There's a good one of Grace Kelly in Rear Window - so pre-Princess, although James Stewart might be in it too. I've got to work now but I'll look later.

Everything is very slow with my internet connection today for whatever reason, so this is a suggestion that anyone interested in acquiring stuff from the +J drop tomorrow is on the case early... The Times had a full page on it today.

Floisme · 24/03/2021 10:20

Thanks for the reminder Xing - any good tips in the Times? I think I've used up my article allowance for this month.

missmoon · 24/03/2021 10:46

On +J, a friend in Singapore suggested looking at their Uniqlo website, as the collection launched there earlier. There are better photos, fabric details, etc.. Also useful to see which bits sold out quickly:

Anna Murphy likes the straight selvedge jeans, the silk hooded parka, the single breasted blazer and the shirts. Below the line, commenters all hated the AW collection, but one suggested that anyone using the app is likely to get priority when limited editions drop.

I like the cotton-linen safari jacket, and the tobacco short raincoat has more than a whiff of Margaret Howell.

botemp · 24/03/2021 11:47

Thank you MissMoon Star that's really helpful, I can now discard the longsleeve dress as it's part nylon Hmm and the silk blend is mostly polyester so that alleviates too. I've warmed much more to the linen blend one as it looks great on the model where I previously thought it was a bit blah. Interesting that the models are all wearing a size medium, wondering what size to get now.

Margaret isn't exactly sitting though, is she? No exceptions, was she also addressed as Ma'am, British titles and forms of adress are a minefield.

There's also a hoodie that had my name on it, but it's sold out in all the colours and all the sizes in Singapore. One will have to get the skates on.

Floisme · 24/03/2021 12:01

I understand from my favourite lockdown book: 'Ma'am Darling' - Craig Brown - that this was the only form of address Margaret answered to.

Good spot - that's really thrown me.

Floisme · 24/03/2021 12:25

Sorry MissMoon - with all the be-more-Princess-Margaret talk I forgot to say thank you!

missmoon · 24/03/2021 12:30

I wonder if Uniqlo sizing is the same everywhere? I tried on a few things in their Jakarta shop a few years ago, and the L was very tight (I’m size 12).

botemp · 24/03/2021 12:39

Yes I contemplated that too, so they might be wearing a size S European as there's no xxs? But there's no XXL either Confused the things in cm are the 25inch size which is XS or S depending what shop you're in but last time I tried on Uniqlo jeans the size 23 were roomy and I usually size up by a lot in jeans due to hips Confused

OP posts:
XingMing · 24/03/2021 12:58

I'm usually M in Uniqlo tops and S/24 inch for their women's jeans. Requires a bit of pondering...

Floisme · 24/03/2021 13:03

The +J chinos were huge in the autumn. I got size 26 and they're generous. In real life I'm 27 if I don't eat all day and hold my breath. I really don't want to mess around ordering multiple sizes though.

botemp · 24/03/2021 13:09

I don't think they'll allow it, like last time and probably the 5 pieces order limit again. Aside from one skirt I'm not too concerned with it fitting close. I think the jeans sizes are a bit bonkers with them. I did try on the narrow flannel trousers from the last collection in the shop at some point in a size 24 and that was too small for me so it's not the same as their jeans necessarily. I think I'll grab whatever the model size they're wearing on the EU site.

I've seen, but not watched yet, on YouTube there's quite a few videos that go through the collection in a press room setup, some had English subtitles, I'll report back later today when I've seen them and link which ones are useful.

Ladies. Surely looking like a large yellow grub is the way of the future?

Missmoon thank you for the J+ link! I think there is nothing I’d have the energy to stay alert for and I’m also a bit disappointed in the material of the long sleeved dress. The sleeveless one is fine obv because that will be the one I don’t want. The shirts look cool and I’m interested to see that the wide legged trousers were so popular (proving my point that they are the business). Colour scheme suitable for the new world order.

Grin bani, there was a ceebeebies series called Dirt Girl (it might have had weird spelling) when dds were small with a worm character. Just saying.

botemp · 24/03/2021 17:21

I love that you colour matched your socks Grin

Well I've watched a couple of videos in various languages on double speed (can't understand so might as well, but my brain is a bit overcooked, as a result, I think) and it's been very informative. The linen blend skirt is off my list as that's just not going to work for me and I'm adding the oversized t-shirt which seems to look great on everybody. I'm deeply envious of anyone who can wear the jeans, they look great in all colours and sizing seems to be normal Uniqlo sizing jean weirdness but it's very much slim on the thighs roomy in the waist so much better suited for inverse triangles and rectangles and not me Sad If I could try them in a shop I so would as I'd have to upsize and no idea by how much.

I also think the V minimalist cardigan could be a really great staple but probably for someone who's quite straight/apple.

I found these three videos the most useful, there's one in the showroom and you can see all the details from almost all the items and all the colours. The Thai woman has somewhat more of a Western body shape (bit of a pear) so things didn't all look miraculously good on her so that was helpful too. Need to go write down which sizes and items I want now before I forget.
