Listening to this ridiculous teacher today bullying two students, isn't it time that we started holding teachers responsible for indoctrinating children into thinking they can identify as anything they feel like?

How did we get to this point where kids are so afraid to speak up because of being bullied by classmates or even by teachers?

YABU - I identify as a cat
YANBU - teachers should face the legal consequences for encouraging children to identify out of their biological sex.

I regret having kids. This stupid fkin world has gone mad and my kids are going to get exposed to this bullshit. Even if teachers could be sued it won't stop this nonsense. I wish they wouldn't bring this shit into schools. Sexualisation of kids in another form. Absolute fucking shameless shite.

sweatynoob · 18/06/2023 01:36

I havent decided what I believe about the whole debate but I was impressed by the students being articulate and feeling they have the right to challenge and express their own views and those of an authority figure.

MintJulia · 18/06/2023 01:37

My ds just rolls his eyes if anyone talks about trans. He's bored as only a 14yo can be with the topic.

Parents need to teach their children that everyone has different opinions on such subjects and that they are entitled to their own views.

A school should be teaching critical thinking but depending on what country you are in, some teachers are required to stick to a set curriculum.

TooBigForMyBoots · 18/06/2023 01:46

When the government puts genderwoo into a Maternity Bill🤯 you can't blame individuals for getting confused.

TooBigForMyBoots · 18/06/2023 02:02

The Tory Government should be held legally responsible for the trans shitshow that has captured our children and the damage done to young bodies and minds on their watch.Angry

TiptoeThroughTheToadstools · 18/06/2023 02:14

I have withdrawn my kids from this particular part of the curriculum. I told the school I am happy for them to have age appropriate sex education, however I will not have them thinking that men can change in to women.

lifekeepsgoing · 18/06/2023 02:33

I think it has all just gone too far and I class myself pretty liberal but I am just so sick of it all now and veering towards just keeping these conversations minimal. There is enough curriculum to get through without opening this all up and of course some parents are really against it so can't we just leave it outside the classroom? Just share that families are not all the same, some have two dads etc and move on.

JemimaTiggywinkles · 18/06/2023 02:36

The Tory government saw fit to tell teachers we are legally required to teach "the facts" about gender identity with no information whatsoever to tell us what gender identity actually is. The previous labour government introduced the gender recognition act which allows a person to legally change their sex.

This teacher was obviously wrong, but the politicians are the main problem here. They (mostly) can't even define the word "woman" ffs.

Catsmere · 18/06/2023 03:25

YANBU. This whole business is misogyny on steroids (literally in many cases).

Remotecontrolatmyside · 18/06/2023 06:24

Oh good, another thread about all of this 🙄

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 18/06/2023 06:37

Calling girls “despicable” for believing in biology is despicable.

forgotmyusername1 · 18/06/2023 06:51

The bit where the teacher is going to report them to the head for more inclusively and diversity training (indoctrination) is chilling

BCBird · 18/06/2023 07:08

I'm.a teacher in my 50s. I hope I don't get into a discussion about this in the crammed 15 minute morning slot called social education. It pitiful. We have things we must discuss- fine, yet we often don't have enough time to devote to it. It ends up being an unsatisfactory experience for all. Gone for me are the days when you were able to build up a rapport with your tutor group over the 5 years. I mourn this.

Oysterbabe · 18/06/2023 07:14

Well done girls. The teacher is the confused one, saying you must be homophobic if you believe there are only 2 genders.

FourTeaFallOut · 18/06/2023 07:15

"If you don't like it you need to go to a different school"

Jesus.Fucking.Christ.

WonderingWanda · 18/06/2023 07:15

That's certainly not how we teach it so I hope you aren't suggesting all teachers are to blame.

lalalalalalaleeee · 18/06/2023 07:18

Those kids were brilliant in their responses though. As long as we have kids who think like that and can articulate their thoughts and opinions, there is still hope

Lcb123 · 18/06/2023 07:19

But it’s true. I’m happy for my kids to do whatever they want. And this is such a non-topic. There’s much more important things kids should be focusing on like the fact the planet is burning

Nothing to see here, right? Look over there while we demand your children will conform to the new faith based belief system or cast them out as heretics.

EVHead · 18/06/2023 07:21

I don’t blame the teachers - they can’t pick and choose which bits of the curriculum to teach.

Blame those further up.

RudsyFarmer · 18/06/2023 07:22

I’ve got in there really early with my eldest and explained it like a religion. He’s very facts oriented so I knew if this shit came up in the next few years he’d be bewildered. I’ve gone in with ‘some people believe….’ in the same way that some people believe the earth is flat etc.

whereaw · 18/06/2023 07:23

There's having opinions and there there are facts.
It's like saying we can have an 'opinion' that the world is flat. But we would be wrong.

It is indoctrination

Brilliant. Let’s terrify the kids about climate Armageddon instead. What a time to be alive.
