Listening to this ridiculous teacher today bullying two students, isn't it time that we started holding teachers responsible for indoctrinating children into thinking they can identify as anything they feel like?

How did we get to this point where kids are so afraid to speak up because of being bullied by classmates or even by teachers?

YABU - I identify as a cat
YANBU - teachers should face the legal consequences for encouraging children to identify out of their biological sex.

And being able to cope with the challenges ahead, including a changing climate, requires a clear and pragmatic mentality that produces robust, innovative and adaptable thinkers. Not a population of conformists lost in a naval gazing pit of identity politics, too cowardly to declare that up cannot be down in case they are sent off for re-education.

Fisharejumping · 18/06/2023 07:57

From what I heard It sounds as though the whole conversation is in response to the girls’ reaction to another student’s assertion of their identity and the teacher is defending that student’s right to so identify. The diversity training is put forward so that the girls respect the rights of other students in the class, which is reasonable. It is one thing to have an opinion it is something else again to put down another student.

I agree though that the girls sound more articulate than the teacher who has been made to follow a particular set of guidelines.

But it’s true. I’m happy for my kids to do whatever they want. And this is such a non-topic. There’s much more important things kids should be focusing on like the fact the planet is burning

What exactly is true in that clip?

That people can identify as cats?
That there are 3 sexes?
That it's homophobic to not believe in gender?

Do you understand what you're saying or just going along with the (small but very loud) crowd?

I thought it was more likely that they expressed their disagreement during a lesson on gender.

My children have sex education at school soon and they are having a session for parents before where they will go over the content. I'm apprehensive.

Kigali78 · 18/06/2023 08:13

Oh I heard the clip this morning on GC twitter. 3 sexes! My word!

SilliQuestion · 18/06/2023 08:17

YABU

I totally agree with you... But they don't have a choice. They need to earn and live and they can't say they don't agree. They could lose everything (it's already happened).

I don't know what's going on - it's all mad, but this gender religion is a very scary, damaging trend.

Teachers are stuck.

wantmorenow · 18/06/2023 08:17

Those girls were so awesome and articulate - gives me hope

WonderingWanda · 18/06/2023 07:15

That's certainly not how we teach it so I hope you aren't suggesting all teachers are to blame.

I would hope that most teachers subscribe to reality and certainly the teachers I know are dismayed at the behaviour of the Transactivist agenda that is taking over the minds of the vulnerable students in their care, especially the autistic students like my own daughter. However they are afraid of losing their jobs.

Do you teach children that humans can change sex? Because they can't. Not sure if you understand this.

Has the trans guidance for schools been published yet?

No, thought not.

Teachers are being left to muddle through on their own. They will get it wrong according to parents no matter what they do. Other teachers apparently losing their jobs for misgendering, or teaching that there are two sexes etc etc.

cansu · 18/06/2023 08:22

The main source of this kind of info is not school it is social media. Discussing the views that kids already hear on the Internet is not the issue.

Respect the rights of a student to identify as a cat and then be told by a teacher that there are three genders and if they don't comply they need to go to another school?

Catshit.

Respect that someone is cat gender?

Should we respect anorexia? Self harm? Bulimia? Religious extremism?

Where is the line drawn?

This gender religion is not harmless.

Nousernamesleftatall · 18/06/2023 08:26

Yanbu, my children will never be ‘trans’ because they know it is bs, they have the opposite propaganda at home.

This. We just want official guidance that the government is up-front about to parents and is confident that it wants kids to learn as part of the curriculum. And then, we'll teach it. Parents can remove children as they see fit and schools can find teachers happy to teach the curriculum in this area. At the moment, we cannot win. One person's biological fact is another's hate speech, as illustrated by the OP. Contrary to some beliefs, most of us aren't in this game to radicalise children one way or another, we just enjoy working with children and have rent to pay.

Teacher shouting: “If you don’t like it you need to go to another school” 😮

What that teacher is saying and how she is saying it is nonsense and indoctrination. The fact that she won’t entertain their opinions shows such a lack of critical thinking and narrow-mindedness.

Thank god my DC are home educated. I am in shock that this stuff is in the already over-squeezed curriculum. The world has gone mad.

There's more here which suggests this was a conversation between just the teacher and the girls following a class in which they had the temerity to say they didn't believe that their classmate was a cat.

World has gone completely mad, identifying as a cat? So if they are ill, are the parents going to take them to a vet? bloody ridiculous, thank goodness my kids are through school.

The world will still be mad when they emerge from home education. I'm teaching my teens to cut through batshit narratives and to employ robust reasoning to establish the bad actors and enthusiastic idiots.

Yeah me too. Critical thinking and problem solving are high on our agenda. I’m just glad they don’t have to suffer school (not just for this reason!). I hope more parents are like you as children are definitely not getting a balanced education at school.

putthatdownsteve · 18/06/2023 08:41

Ds is 20 now, but when he was in year 11, I was called in for an urgent meeting.

He had disagreed with a teacher talking about gender.

I was told that the problem was, he “didn’t think like they wanted him to think”. Those were their exact words. They also asked if anyone at home was “radicalising” him as all their other children agreed with the school on trans issues and ds had said you can dress how you like, chop bits off, but you will still always be male or female and would not change his views when challenged.

I will add that ds was pressed and pressed on his views until he said them. His response was that if you don’t want to hear things, don’t pressure someone into giving their opinion.

That was hate speech, apparently, and not what someone of his age should be thinking, and someone at home must be forcing him to think that way.

They got very short shrift from me.

The teacher is struggling and too steeped in belief to deal with the girls.

Resorting to wrong school and highly emotional responses

From what I've heard (and I'm not sure if this is true) it was in response to a student identifying as a cat.

If true, I think we can all agree how ridiculous that is.
