Merry Christmas, everybody Xmas Smile.

Still sad about Stella Tennant, she was only days younger than me.

CatherineMaitland · 25/12/2020 08:26

Happy Christmas, everyone. Xmas Smile

Redandblue11 · 25/12/2020 09:56

Pies & Chips - I love that combo. What a great xmas eve dinner.

We woke up to a lovely frosty and sunny day, presents are open and I am wearing my new Alex and Monroe flower earrings that I received as present Smile.
Yes during the day I will wear jeans and jumper. We decided to have Christmas dinner for dinner time, around 6/7 pm.

Xmas Smile Merry Christmas to all.

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas day. It was strange yet peaceful.

banivani · 26/12/2020 13:43

I fell of the Internet for a bit there but wanted to log on and wish everyone a belated happy Christmas! I’ve caught the cold my son had (LET’S HOPE IT’S JUST A COLD EH) and am feeling rather sorry for myself and quite low. Found Christmas a bit rough to get through, everyone was rubbing me up the wrong way somehow. Plus everything I baked or made turned out shit. Wink always depressing in itself!

Notes:
Solid gold if worn often. Plated ok for the once a year tiara.
Sad about Stella Tennant, very unexpected.

quirkychick · 26/12/2020 14:42

bani, if it's any consolation dd2 struggles with Christmas Day: she gets overwhelmed. She managed the stocking presents fine, but that was about it I just let her retire to her room to play and tried not to stress. Today, is much easier as there's no pressure for anything much to happen.

I got some blundstone boots for Christmas, which I look forward to wearing on winter walks.

CatherineMaitland · 26/12/2020 16:03

Hope you feel better soon Bani. I had a baking disaster too, cheese biscuits all stuck to tin and collapsed into crumbs when I tried to get them off the tray. Oh well. The crumbs tasted fine...

Skirt was reduced by another £24 today so I've bitten the bullet at last.

botemp · 26/12/2020 17:43

Merry Christmas everyone🌲☃️ (it's still Christmas here). Cuddled up in new H&M linen PJs that arrived in the nick of time, and they're very comfy and not scratchy. The reviewers did not lie 🎉

Must admit I didn't recognise the name ST but knew exactly who she was when I saw her pictures. She always walked and fronted the best shows, very cool and very chic indeed. I think Freja Beha Erichsen (sp?) has a similar look Flo but she's around my age, slightly younger, I think. Think you're right though, atm the beauty ideal is ultra feminine, but it's probably due a cyclical 180.

Get well soon Bani Brew

I put too much baking powder in some cookies so they had that weird aftertaste but I'm the only one who can taste it so not a disaster. Very relaxed Christmas otherwise.

Duvet any news on the God of thieves?

I've looked at Blundstone boots before thinking they must be good walking boots but have this belief they're for tall people as the ankles seem very high, am I imagining it Quirky?

Ooh exciting Catherine, is it now a New Year's Eve outfit?

I don't really know what to do about NYE, it's always a big thing (bigger than Christmas in my family), fireworks and parties, and lots of boozy receptions/brunches (work related) in the days after. I told OH I'd probably just go to bed around normal time in response of what to do which is before midnight and he's appalled. So I'm guessing something has to be thought of, I've gotten as far as flambéing something... 🔥

Thanks so much for your help and advice everyone re gold chain everyone! Sorry for delayed thanks, Christmas has been busy! I think I'm going to buy a cheaper snake chain in the short term and then keep an eye out for a vintage solid gold chain in the longer term. Am getting married and buying a house this year so now might not be the time to try and upgrade :)

CatherineMaitland · 27/12/2020 17:06

I think I might just wear it for every day, if I like it. After a year in the camper van nearly I'm feeling the need for more glam. I also bought yet another black polo neck - I like the Hobbs Lara versions, and at half price they seem quite good value. And some tinted lip balm.

Good news on the PJs.

Christmas is always better with less pressure, it seems to me.

Redandblue11 · 27/12/2020 17:07

I am already thinking about NYE too. Also bigger than Christmas in a way in my family, with long parties till early hours and fireworks... so I am not sure how to play it this year Xmas Confused
Just put an order for some outdoor winter trousers and stuff for my son, including some wellies, which he normally hates ... but my plan is that they will fit me instead... yep his feet is now the same size as mine and these wellies are a Norwegian brand , cannot remember the name so I want to see how comfy they are as they were super cheap. Otherwise I am thinking in some Hunters , unless you lot advice me better?

Redandblue11 · 27/12/2020 17:09

@LatriceRoyale85 have you seen
www.alexmonroe.com/jewellery/necklaces
Or are you after a thicker chain?

botemp · 27/12/2020 17:19

I think Hunter are meant to be crap these days, style over substance made in China, etc. Something French sounding is the way to go (not sure it's actually French, I think they're British) Chameau or something like that. But I am not the outdoorsy person to ask, the only pair of wellies I ever owned (as an adult) were from Salvatore Ferragamo and I ended up selling them as they never got worn.

Let me know if you figure out NYE Red, we're forbidden fireworks this year in hopes not to overwhelm the hospitals and I hope people actually adhere. I'd anticipated some sort of clappy moment to be organised at midnight to thank everyone who went above and beyond this year, but nope just some light show countdown in an empty stadium... Hence I've gotten no further than flambéing something...

More glamour sound very much needed after life in a van Catherine.

Latrice, sounds very sensible. Congrats on the wedding and new house Flowers

quirkychick · 27/12/2020 17:58

bo, I don't think the Blundstones are that high (only tried them in once, so far, as I need to spray them), but I am a tall(ish) person with long legs. I can measure them for you, if you like.

latrice, snake chain sounds a great choice.

CatherineMaitland definitely glamour in a van sounds good. We've had lots of heavy rain, the park bandstand was in a lake yesterday, so my park walking clothes have been glammed up with a (fake) furry hat I bought from a charity shop last year.

quirkychick · 27/12/2020 18:12

Not a brilliant photo, bo, 13.5cm from sole to ankle. These are the Blundstones originals, I think, so proper walking ones. They come with extra insoles, in case you need them.

Floisme · 28/12/2020 10:04

Well Christmas in this house has been pretty much like every day since 23rd March, only with extra food. The sea bass was yummy by the way and, while I miss having small people around, grown up children who can cook are a delight.

Rewatched some Wallis and Gromit and I've decided I want a knotted green tank top for spring.

Welcome Latrice, I'm afraid I know nothing about gold but you can find an answer to most questions on here.

Floisme · 28/12/2020 10:17

Knitted.

Redandblue11 · 28/12/2020 10:35

Salvatore ferragamo wellies Grin I love it Bo.

Just about to meet my one person quota outdoors so I might wear my fur Russian white hat, it is freezing cold here. I wouldn’t buy fur myself, but this was a present given to me years and years ago by someone who used to work for me (Russian). Barrel leg jeans and a sonia ryekel knit, all will be under a big coat so I could be wearing anything really ...

LatriceRoyale85 · 28/12/2020 10:36

@redandblue11 those are so lovely! Mostly, it's just that I'm looking for a plain chain as have a few sentimental gold pendants I like already. I've been watching spiral in iPlayer and it inspired
me to try to get them into rotation again! I do love so many pieces on the site though...

LatriceRoyale85 · 28/12/2020 10:38

@floisme I love the Wallace and Gromit outfit inspo! I eye up Miss Piggy's outfits with a lot of envy Smile.

botemp · 28/12/2020 11:04

I quite like the idea of a knotted knit, isn't there a knot stitch? A 'tank top' with a bit of texture may very well remove some of the frump factor I associate with them as the extra unambiguous mass can then be mistaken as the material as opposed to the body underneath.

Speaking of being inspired by cartoons, Studio Ghibli and Loewe have a collab going, usually these annoy me as they're just for collectors but I'm quite charmed by these. Link here, you need to open up the 10 image gallery to see it properly although the marketing images don't make it that easy.

Thanks quirky, that's definitely well into my calve and probably wouldn't fit well.

In my defense, the SF wellies were bought in an outlet and I think I turned a profit selling them on Vestiaire but they were pretty ridiculous. They had kitten heels fgs Blush

The net-a-porter sale has caught me, I have some khaki green LouLou studio trousers and tkees flip flops on my way to me. I think Elle may have the trousers too 🤦

Also: Cos seems to have copied my trousers in recycled polyester (mine are obvs much nicer, the fit is surprisingly similar though) in a bright turquoise. They're doing a lot of bright contrast combinations, which will be everywhere in sure as a post pandemic mood but I'm more curious as to whether it'll be embraced at large.

GrinAt my mixing Wallace up with Wallis. As you can see, I've been binging on The Crown as well.

Redandblue11 · 28/12/2020 20:32

Oh Bo the L and S G collab looks adorable, so sweet. I will keep an eye for that.
