I second mustard - it's one of the few shades of yellow I can wear. And I think long puffer coats look classy.

Xing thanks for the tip about Olive Clothing sizing. I've found that thread and can no longer be arsed trying them. I'm starting to detest online shopping - even when something works ok, all the fun has been sucked out of it.

botemp · 18/03/2021 09:22

Hmm, I think I saw the knee length padded jacket in navyat Cos (back when I could still shop ) but it wasn't very heavily padded iirc, so maybe not that warm in a Swedish winter but the colour is very autumn.

Isn't the UK designer with wax prints something sounding like Keme/Kemi with a British town as surname? I'll think of it after I post, probably. It's a lot of mid to plus sizes iirc.

And I have to agree, lots of interesting things happening in Ireland, you need better PR, unless you're purposefully keeping it all to yourselves Envy

Temptresses. They're charging me shipping so it's money to try on and not even a fun day out Sad Wink I'll mull on it for an hour.

botemp · 18/03/2021 09:25

Ah yes, Kemi Telford, now I remember 🤦

Also, don't lump us Europeans in with vanity sizing, that's mostly a US/UK thing IME, Italy, France and Spain are fairly consistent, German's are annoyingly precise and predictable (unfortunately, so are the clothes, ie. boring as). I don't know what H&M is up too, though, it's not vanity sizing, just confusion sizing.

Also, stupid autocorrect, I'm not crying in sons, I'm sobbing Hmm

Ireland has SHITE pr, don't they? It's all visit us, leprechauns and Temple Bar but where are the RTE programmes on my telly, where is the heavy marketing of online shops bla bla. It sort of shows how small scale a lot of business still is there doesn't it.

It's the long puffer coat I want, should be calf length at least? Recycled down.

Kemi Telford, that's it!

XingMing · 18/03/2021 14:59

bani, you've cost me a cardigan... COS sale, the malachite green, it's a good colour for me, so I hope the shape/length are right.

And my eye test... my Rx has changed for both distance and near vision, so that's expensive, plus new frames. But I do get 50% discount on having my beloved old frames reglazed as sunglasses.

banivani · 18/03/2021 16:18

And I’ve ordered the coat but I suspect I was too late and it’s sold out - it let me go through checkout but no confirmation email as of yet so we’ll see... I’m glad someone likes that green Xing because it’s not my favourite and I was building up to a colour rant again Grin

Floisme · 18/03/2021 17:01

What is this Cos sale of which you speak? I can't see it, everything's coming up full price for me and no email. If they've thrown me out of the club after all I've done for them there's going to be trouble.

Thank you bo Smile

So why didn't I get that Cos you feckers?

XingMing · 18/03/2021 17:20

It will depend on how bright the green is, bani... for me, it will need to be electric emerald, not grass green, to wear with white and navy. I fear it will be longer than I want, but it's a quarter of the price of the cardi posted earlier this week.

botemp · 18/03/2021 17:24

I think Cos staggers their emails, when Bani posted about the sale I thought, what is she going on about but I had received an email only a few minutes before.

Speaking of my inbox, just got a newsletter from &daughter. I know this is not in budget and the V is probably too polite but I liked the styling with the shirt half tucked in underneath, inspiration for if you ever find the one. Also what looks to be a lovely cardigan, and I say that as someone who doesn't really like cardigans.

Ah that sweet spot between an overly polite v and one that is too deep.

&daughter is very covetable (combination of ethos and aesthetics), but a bit too samey in colours maybe? And at those prices you have to have a proper shop, to wander into all year and touch things and save up, and then finally finally get the jumper that is perfect.

Sorry for not posting the link to the sale Flo, I just assumed everyone else had had the email! I'm also semi-coveting this blouse from Arket, www.arket.com/en_sek/women/shirts-blouses/product.embroidered-blouse-green.0708624011.html but that's because I'm a sucker for broderie anglaise which is so so rare in colours other than white. I don't like that type of collar though I know this, so I am sitting on my hands.

botemp · 18/03/2021 20:12

& Daughter does look very covetable but my internet bullshit meter assumes it must therefore be shit in real life (only Sezane has proven me wrong on this so far). Yes, blah colours but it appeals to the boring capsule wardrobes. I don't like their summer stuff either, the dresses seem to fall into two categories, married to God or I'm a little girl Confused neither of which could afford the inflated prices.

Anyhow, they don't really have a customer in me as they don't have their act together and charge outrageous shipping prices and don't even deliver duties paid for that, so, yes, they need a nice shop for me to visit.

Yes, that broderie anglaise does look interesting, I didn't even recognise it as BA initially, have you ever tried dyeing any yourself?

OP posts:
banivani · 19/03/2021 08:12

I have not tried dyeing myself, haven't really wanted to pay for things and then possibly ruin by dyeing them iyswim. I haven't done a lot of home dyeing and almost always been a bit underwhelmed by the results - a stain I hadn't noticed shows up in all its glory, the colour is boring and flat etc. If you dye a lot I think you get the hang of mixing shades to get the result you want maybe. Also, I most often have wanted something in a different colour completely, without the white thread, which isn't a result I'd get from home dyeing a bought item. That Arket blouse is the first thing I've seen where I appreciate the white thread.

Floisme · 19/03/2021 11:01

Oh no worries bani it's Cos I'm cross with although, to be fair, I've hardly ever bought from them online - I look often but then I wait till I can get to a real shop - so, for all my grumping, they might not even have my details!

That's a pretty blouse but like you, I'm not a fan of those necklines. I dye quite a lot and can say with confidence that I never know what colour I'm going to end up with. So I hardly ever dye anything that's new but, as it happens, I've just sent for another pair of those +J chinos I liked from the last collection as they're now half price. I've gone for brown, which will almost certainly be too dark but I'm going to strip out the colour and see what happens. I wouldn't have done it at full price but for £24.90 I'll take a punt.
