Gorgeous blazer, bo and flo...

Floisme · 14/07/2021 12:21

That looks great bo and the sizing sounds right too. You're right that it doesn't seem to be showing up on Vinted UK (Yes I've signed up - so much for all my 'I'm not buying second hand online' bluster Grin) So I'm in your hands and await instructions - pm if you need to.

botemp · 14/07/2021 14:29

For Flo

The first one is black (deceptively looks navy to me) and the second is dark green (deceptively looks black to me).

Thanks bo going to pass on them although not because they don't look good - I'll be kicking myself in the autumn.

Redandblue11 · 14/07/2021 18:29

Good blazer bo and flo!
I have given up with vinted in the uk (for the moment anyway) I cannot get the hang on finding good stuff there.
eBay has generally worsened, but I seem to know my way there.
I am still dithering about the linen blazer and now I have found another two and I am trying to decide…
So instead I bought a weekend max Mara, 60 silk - 40 linen in very good condition pair of trousers. They fit very well, they would be better if they were slightly higher rise, but they fit well nonetheless. They might be a touch long, but I need to try with shoes.

Redandblue11 · 14/07/2021 18:30

Here are the trousers

Like those red. I also like the MH cardi with pockets in the nearly navy above.

botemp · 15/07/2021 08:10

Heads up, Lemaire is having an online archive sale from today (not sure when it ends). Around 60-70% off.

oooh thanks - very temped by the pleated sleeveless top. Also love the multi-pocket skirt for "this skirt has pockets" comedy value, but don't think it would be great on.

I'll pop back later with a proper update.

botemp · 15/07/2021 11:45

The halter neck? I'm eyeing that too, and the 70s linen/cotton trousers but am currently in Paris so feel I should see what I get here first.

What is an archive sales?

Floisme · 15/07/2021 13:48

Oh bo I daren't look Shock Ok I'm taking a peek...

Red my understanding of an archive sale is that it's all the stuff that hasn't shifted over a few seasons at very bargainous prices. Sometimes there are good reasons why it hasn't sold but equally you can sometimes pick up amazing stuff. Toast used to do one and the scrum made the the Jil Sander Uniqlo launches look postively genteel. You basically grab n' go. I like your Max Mara trousers - they look enviably swishy.

I'm liking the cardigan too Xing but I've sat on my hands. Remind me I'm an idiot in the autumn when I'm grumbling about the state of my Uniqlo men's cardigan. Incidentally I still feel bad about recommding that Uniqlo cardigan to a poster on here (sorry I can't remember who). Eight months on, it looks like the dog's been sleeping on it and we don't even have a dog.

luggageandbags · 15/07/2021 16:35

Coming back to the thread just in the perfect moment to find out about the Lemaire archive sale! Thank you @botemp! It's been weird few months here, highlights including promotion at work, kids still being in and out of school, deciding to split up with DP (amicably but still massive upheaval) so I'm house hunting and on a massive money saving campaign, leaving me with little energy or resources to think about making or buying clothes.

I was tempted by the backless halterneck top too but couldn't justify it as I would wear it three times a year on summer holidays (but I'd love to see you in it @ToEllewithIt and @botemp if you end up ordering it, I'd love to know how it's constructed). I see the Vareuse dress that I was trying to copy is in the main sale but still too £££.

I ordered the baggy trousers in tan, they feel special and something I would get a lot of wear out of.

Congratulations @CatherineMaitland on the house purchase, that must be a relief. And Flowers for @XingMing, hope it all goes well.

Redandblue11 · 15/07/2021 20:31

I saw all the floods in Europe , I am not sure if they are near you Bo , hope all ok.

If anyone gets any lemaire items, I want to see . The backless top caught my attention and some of the trousers.

XingMing · 15/07/2021 20:52

Thanks @luggageandbags.

I think Lemaire collection would be clothing I'd need to try on IRL. I like the colab with Uniqlo, but the silhouette strikes me as likely to be unforgiving on a body over 60.

XingMing · 15/07/2021 21:02

The flood pictures are terrible. How awful to have your home and family ripped away like that.

botemp · 15/07/2021 22:13

The situation on the border with Germany and Belgium is pretty dire atm but it's very far from where I live, the crime journalist that was shot last week and sadly died today was much closer to home. You only really need to worry about me if the sea barriers ever fail. It's pretty tragic, it's always quite vulnerable people, quite a sad story this morning about an elderly couple in their basement Sad It feels extra sad now, with a pandemic on. It's a known area of flooding though, always in summer, it's just getting more extreme now.

Sorry to hear about your split, Luggage Flowers Strange times, I think it calls for a phoenix rises from the ashes fashion moment though Wink

I did actually see your Lemaire dress in Le Bon Marché today, it was well marked down here, 50% and then a further 30%. I tried it on out of duty to the thread but it's not a thing I'd usually try on, and oh my, I looked like a mad grimey potato 🥔 headed for the monastery Shock

It did have some interesting details, really liked the extra little strap to keep it attached at the back.

OP posts:
botemp · 15/07/2021 22:22

Not from the archive sale but I ended up buying some really high waisted Lemaire trousers at Le Bon Marché for a shockingly low price (old season, I assume). It's not my size by some but that sort of worked to my advantage as this nicely hugs my ribs instead of attacking them and at the waist level it has one of those strap thingies at the back. It's really beautiful fabric, but it photographs like shit. Because they're too long my fitting room pics are a bit too sharpei looking to convince you all they're actually fantastic in RL. I like that they're really straight, it's a hard silhouette for me to find that fits well.

Xing, I think today is your appointment, I hope it goes as well as can be under these circumstances Flowers

ToEllewithIt · 16/07/2021 09:41

Best of luck for today xing. Will be thinking of you.

Nice to hear from you luggage. Sorry to hear about the split but we’ll done on the promotion.

Floisme · 16/07/2021 10:42

Yes thinking of you Xing Flowers

XingMing · 16/07/2021 14:58

Sorry about the split Luggage, but the promotion is good news, and I second the suggestion that you'll need a wardrobe refresh when the dust settles.

Well, the outcome of the consultation today.... there's no preparation for being stripped to the waist in front of three chaps having your boobs redesigned with Sharpie pens! (There was a nurse too!)

The lump is apparently in the most awkward place to mitigate the loss of tissue but it's still a straightforward lumpectomy procedure, so they will also be doing a mammoplasty (reduction), and they prefer to keep visually balance so it's a bilateral mammoplasty. Date is going to be mid-August when the surgeons are back from their holidays. There will be an overnight stay at worst, but I shan't be able to drive for a while, or lift XingDog or even a bag of shopping. Five or six weeks later, there will be a week of radiotherapy, and then I shall be shopping for bras in a new smaller size.... which is the silver lining. Anyone need a wardrobe of large, expensive bras?

prettybird · 16/07/2021 17:12

That sounds reassuring XingMing - even though it won't be much fun for you as you go through the process.

What size will you be going from and to, bra wise?
