Week 3 - Low Carb Bootcamp - the going starts to get tough now!

Morning all.

Despite my intentions, I still woke up early this morning. However, it was an hour or so later than usual, so that's an extra hour!

Anyway, here's the spreadsheet for you to record the results of last week

I hope the results are good!

Just remember that weeks 3 and 4 are notorious for little/no weight loss!

You have a choice to make now. You can either stick to Bootcamp, if it suits you, or you can move on to Bootcamp Light, which means you can re-introduce some fruit (berries) and some nuts/seeds as well as alcohol - all in moderation.

However, given the issue with weeks 3 & 4, you might decide you want to stay on Bootcamp. That in itself is no guarantee that you will lose, but at least you know you're being as strict as you can be!

Some people choose a hybrid, which is Bootcamp Light at the weekend, but stay on Bootcamp during the week.

Whatever you choose, just be aware that from here on, we're looking to see a loss of around 1-2lbs per week. Which is a good and healthy loss!

Here's to a good week Flowers

@mOther , same starting weight as me !
My first goal is 10st 13 👍

@Tired and @toot, same wardrobe problem here , I’m sick of the clothes I wear all the time , and have no idea of what to wear when I have something nice to do or go to

My bras are looking loose , so my boobs have shrunk this week , would prefer some movement on my waist or bum , but hey ho !

Youcantscaremeihavechildren · 04/11/2018 10:49

@BIWI point taken. I'm just not v hungry though, last few days it's just tailed off. I'll have a boiled egg or something. My omelette had spinach in it and my lasagne had courgette, probably I had over half a courgette, and spinach. Today's dinner will be mostly veg and have the rest of the omelette with extra raw spinach, would that be OK?

BIWI · 04/11/2018 11:27

Well ...

Not much protein or fat though! It's a balancing act, isn't it?

Hi all, I've been reading all the posts, but think I need to post a bit more myself to keep me on track, was doing well during the week, but had a couple of slips ups this weekend. Baked cupcakes for my son's birthday and kept tasting the batter and icing! We had a pizza party and I made fathead pizza for myself, which was lovely, so did manage to avoid all the carby pizza!

Had leftover fathead pizza for lunch today, off out for dinner tonight, there are low carb options, I just need to make sure I choose them and don't get tempted by the calamari!

Youcantscaremeihavechildren · 04/11/2018 15:15

@BIWI does it not look like enough, I thought it was loads... Omelette had 4 eggs, loads of cheese and bacon, I had about half.
Lasagne had double cream and cream cheese plus more cheddar in the sauce, then a pack of mince, highest fat mince I could find, then loads of cheese on top, prob had a quarter. Oh and Dh brought me back some properly stinky cheese from Ireland, I had a bit of that.
Today I've had 2 coffees, with double cream, rest of the lasagne with spinach leaves for lunch then we are having roast lamb, I'll eat the fatty bits and loads of veg, (brocoli, swede, greens.) I'll have a tiny bit of gravy, it's the fat and juices plus a stock cube.
It is a balancing act! I don't feel hungry, although I did go for a 5k run earlier and didn't eat from getting up till 1pm due to kids harassing me, had a few lightheaded moments, which could be hunger but more likely my blood pressure, its always v low. I'm still loosing or staying the same most days, down another 2lbs this week so far. So I think I'm doing it right?
I'm going to cook up a cauliflower crust quiche and some egg muffins to take to work, got leftover curry for tomorrow, first day back after half term is always hard and when I'd usually reach for the chocolate. So need to eat well to avoid that. I will listen to advice and take something to have on the way to work as I'll have been up since 5.30am after slobbing about till 8 all holiday.

@Doilooklikeatourist Welcome to the redundant wardrobe club 🖐🏻

Well I survived the weekend...lunch was 5 Guys and a lettuce-wrapped cheeseburger with mushrooms and mayo. It looked unappetising, but was bloody delicious.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow's weigh-in.

Away for the weekend and can't download the spreadsheet of fabulousness....

Is tonic water I.e gin and tonic a good option?

I should of checked before we left but I didn't....doh🙄

BIWI · 04/11/2018 17:17

Only if it's slimline tonic, Wheely. And beware - if it's a pub selling Fevertree, you'll get their 'light' tonic, which still has sugar/carbs in it, so best limit how many you have.

If you really want a drink, vodka and soda, with a slice of iime, is your safest bet.

Hi everyone.
I'm jumping back in. I didn't do very well at all for the first couple of weeks, for various reasons, however, I got myself into the zone last week.
I have read the previous threads and caught up with all the posts.
Good luck for weigh in tomorrow.

amserdeffro · 04/11/2018 19:25

I'm not on this bootcamp, but just dipping in to say my low carb journey started with a @BIWI bootcamp summer last year. Best thing I ever did.

From someone who struggled with weight my entire adult life. Got up to 15+ stone at my heaviest. I now easily maintain 10.5 stone, eating some fantastic food.

So glad I found this way of eating. Big thank you @BIWI! You're doing great things for lots of peoples' health and well being.

Iamnotacerealkiller · 04/11/2018 21:13

Reporting in. Been very busy trying to do more and get out more so took ages to catch up and finally post. suspect i will be the same weight tomorrow based on my daily weigh in but not sure why exactly. ive started running and i have heard this can temporarily effect weight loss but intend to crack on, will see tomorrow.

Regarding my BF problems i can report that i have fixed it by adding in an extra pump so now doing three between baby going to bed and me going to bed. im pumping slightly less then he is eating but i have loads stored so should last until xmas at least.

Made delicious dinner of beef rissoles, shredded spinach, tomato and mushroom sauce with a slice of melty goats cheese sat in it to melt.

Plans this week,

Make oopsie bread to try (first time) i used to love turkey, cream cheese and coleslaw bagels so want to make a wrap for that, if i don't like that will make up some phyllum husk wraps.

Celariac bubble and squeak

Moussaka.

I have removed all the chocolate in my house and given it to my mother. Its a trigger for me and i find while i don't need it i do want it so i think better to just avoid.

Good luck tomorrow everyone!!

BIWI · 04/11/2018 22:00

@amserdeffro Thank you! But well done you. It's you that's done the hard work, not me!

Sorry if I've missed it somewhere but is there specific macros to aim for? I've started to log on MyFitnessPal to keep an eye on carbs, fat, protein and cals so I can get a better handle on what's working and what's not. What ratios should we be aiming for?

LeapinLizards · 05/11/2018 06:00

@millionaire, I am for 70% fat, 25% protein & 5% carbs.

tootstastic · 05/11/2018 06:56

Morning all...3lbs off for me this morning. I'm happy with that.

Good luck everyone!

Ampstrong · 05/11/2018 07:01

I STS this week-not suprised.

BIWI · 05/11/2018 07:32

@Iamnotacerealkiller and @Ampstrong

Have you not read my posts about weeks 3 and 4?! It's very, very, very common to see weight loss slow or stop altogether in these two weeks, so don't be downhearted. KOKO and things will get going again soon.

@millionaireshortie

... and have you not been reading any of the posts?! We don't count carbs or calories, ergo there are no specific macros to aim for. Follow the rules and keep your diet high in fat, with a medium amount of protein and low carbohydrate.

Ampstrong · 05/11/2018 07:45

Hmm I’ve struggled. Had done really well salmon and steamed cos curry for lunch. Nil hunger. Got home from work and emptying kid’s lunch boxes and one small bag of Oatey biscuits ate them... then went for some porridge with walnuts and fell off the wagon. Onwards...planning to progress o think getting in from work often tired and stressed and motivation. At that very point in time is zilch. So I had removed all temptation or so I thought. Any ideas for ok snacks when I get? I like a treat. I used to go running or such like but have kids now- tired hungry kids....
