NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #38

1000 replies

nauticant · 22/07/2025 23:17

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to last 2 weeks. However, after 2 weeks it was not complete and it adjourned part-heard. It resumed on 16 July and the last day of evidence will be 28 July and then there will be 2 days of submissions from counsel meaning that the hearing will end on 30 July.

The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton gave evidence from Thursday 6 February to Wednesday 12 February.

Access to view the hearing remotely was obtainable by sending an email request to [email protected] by 5pm on Wednesday 9 July. Detailed instructions were provided here:

It’s not confusing to you because you’re probably not that literate with tech. For those of us who are, it’s bizzare to manually type something that is automated. It’s the sort of thing someone who isn’t digitally competent would do, because you lack the fundamental insight into why the automation exists.

<hangs head in luddite shame>

I've had a busy morning of parsnip stout bottling. Have there been any big developments in the last couple of hours? I make oat pancakes quite often, but no need for the blender. Just beat up porridge oats, milk and an egg and pinch of salt and a bit of melted butter. Best to leave for half an hour or to soak, then beat again, cook like any drop scone, and eat with golden syrup. I bung a bit of cinnamon in too.

Are you relatively young? We used to add it manually to the top of letters. Old fashioned ones that didn’t add their own subject lines!

It’s unsurprising that some people still feel the need to add it themselves.

Just to make people aware, not all MN tools are available in all formats.

I love the colours for the PP and my own posts, but they are only on the app. Other tools are only in the browser.

Some features- taking you to where you last were- don’t work in some formats.

I'm on browser and have always had green for OP and pink for me. Never had the app. Diff browsers the same too.

Im not clear why it matters how a private individual personally defines their sexuality.

Because if straight men are claiming to be lesbians and other people are humouring them, then it is rather hard for lesbians to maintain their rights as lesbians.

I think what they meant about typing it was that they were typing “re:” as you might on the top of a letter to designate the subject matter, say:

”re: subject of Peggie Tribunal”

at the top of a letter.

Unless you have a side hustle in scriptwriting or stand up, you have missed your vocation. Lost count of how many times I’ve laughed out loud. And I also now have Chewing the Fat’s Taysiders in Space on a loop in my head😂

Yes, this is how I write (actual) letters.

Write the subject of the letter in bold Re: XYZ, then underneath the body of the letter

Calling women 'hags'. Not really going out of their way to disprove the notion that they are a bunch of hateful misogynist chauvinist pigs are they.

And they talk about vindictive, when Upton vindictively did everything he could to vindictively punish a woman who said NO to his predatorial demands. Is reddit anything but a cesspit of misogynist chauvinist pigs who gaslight and DARVO?

Edited

Oh, they think that they woman much better than we do.

I think I'm in that crossover group where both make sense to me. My initial thought was that I wouldn't use 're' manually but then realise I prob have done.

This is like a portal into a different world. “Parsnip Stout” is not something I have ever heard of. Obviously lots of sugar as they caramelise wonderfully when roasted. Maybe it doesn’t matter much what the source of the alcohol is when it is at drinking point.

The oat pancakes sound great. I’m going to try them.

It doesn't mean 'Replying to'
