NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #38

nauticant · 22/07/2025 23:17

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to last 2 weeks. However, after 2 weeks it was not complete and it adjourned part-heard. It resumed on 16 July and the last day of evidence will be 28 July and then there will be 2 days of submissions from counsel meaning that the hearing will end on 30 July.

The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton gave evidence from Thursday 6 February to Wednesday 12 February.

Access to view the hearing remotely was obtainable by sending an email request to [email protected] by 5pm on Wednesday 9 July. Detailed instructions were provided here:

You can also save posts using the 3 little dots icon at the top right of a post. I've never used it before but keep meaning to when someone posts something that could be really useful to quote.

I am learning SO MUCH about MN posts today! Thx.

GreenFriedTomato · 23/07/2025 13:15

Wait? Wtf?

IDareSay · 23/07/2025 13:15

That doesn't look like KS?

From the colour of the packet, and the fact the sandwiches had 'Pret' labels on them, I'm going to say those crisps are Sea Salt Crisps.

'Sea salt' on labels always makes me wonder about the sheer amount of shit there must be in the sea, which doesn't make me want to use it, tbh.

Managed to catch up just before they start, having been out all morning.

Am genuinely shocked at the nurse denied time off for her own wedding.

A bit baffled by people saying they use Re: in an initial email header - I get that you might be using it to refer to a conversation had that you're following up on but does it not get very confusing when the re:'s start to add to the title in the replies?

I did not know this. Very handy

GreenFriedTomato · 23/07/2025 13:16

Unless she's gone grey in the waiting room, this is someone else

snickersbarchild · 23/07/2025 13:17

Note to self

Dye your roots should you ever appear in a live streamed court case

FeedbackProvider · 23/07/2025 13:17

Who is about to give evidence?

GreenFriedTomato · 23/07/2025 13:17

Maggie Curran I presume

WearyLady · 23/07/2025 13:17

I’ve still got a black screen.

This makes sense to me. I don’t see why it’s confusing really, I never pay much attention to the Re: anyway. I guess it would just read re: re:xxxx

Interestingly, I'm at a very public, very busy tourist event and they have guards on the female toilets letting you in - but no guards on the men's.

No idea why. But does make you wonder.

If that’s what it takes. I’m glad to see them take women’s SSS seriously.

PersonIrresponsible · 23/07/2025 13:18

KS has aged...

Or it's someone else.

Chersfrozenface · 23/07/2025 13:18

Fife Leader, Fife Leader, come in Fife Leader.

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 23/07/2025 12:43

If I’d known you were popping out, i would have asked you to get me a dozen eggs.

sadly ma local poond shop is closin doon. 8 packets ae 6 tea cakes, fower poon. It's an ill wind.

NebulousDogwhistle · 23/07/2025 13:05

I whizzed the oats and banana in the blender, made greige wallpaper paste which wasn't coming out of the blender without a fight. Found another recipe that said add an egg, did that, whizzed it, the "mixture" was more liquidy (not by much though). Fried it, then made the horrible mistake of trying to eat it.

I am always suspicious of oat pancake recipes that don’t contain eggs and some sort of leavening. But I like a fluffy pancake with fruit and Greek yoghurt.

Me too, what IS going on today?

oldwomanwhoruns · 23/07/2025 13:19

Why not KS?????????????????????????

GreenFriedTomato · 23/07/2025 13:19

WearyLady · 23/07/2025 13:17

I’ve still got a black screen.

If you don't get back in soon try logging out and back in again. Happened to me the other day and worked. I've been in the room at least half an hour now

GoldThumb · 23/07/2025 13:19

If KS is not up, presumably that was something dealt with in this mornings private hearing?
As she’s deffo there, was pictured going in this morning.

Do we know if she’s left?

NotAtMyAge · 23/07/2025 13:19

GreenFriedTomato · 23/07/2025 13:02

And also use the bookmark on someone's post to go back to where you left off

I tend to bookmark the page I'm on in my Chrome reading list and just open it again when I get back. Works for me.

murasaki · 23/07/2025 13:19

Why no KS? I thought NC hadn't finished with her yet.

CriticalCondition · 23/07/2025 13:19

My guess is Maggie Currer. She was next on the list.

BezMills · 23/07/2025 13:20

Chersfrozenface · 23/07/2025 13:18

Fife Leader, Fife Leader, come in Fife Leader.

Staunin by, staunin by!
