NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #38

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to last 2 weeks. However, after 2 weeks it was not complete and it adjourned part-heard. It resumed on 16 July and the last day of evidence will be 28 July and then there will be 2 days of submissions from counsel meaning that the hearing will end on 30 July.

The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton gave evidence from Thursday 6 February to Wednesday 12 February.

Tell you what I find surprising but I can’t articulate why - Beth Upton is married to a woman called Zoe. Does that mean that Zoe thinks she is a lesbian? My head hurts.

They really aren’t making themselves look ridiculous at all. They are simply reporting on what is being raised in the tribunal .

Everyone in the NHS was acting with complete confidence and certainty that SP would be dismissed or at the very least, not working with them for much longer. There was absolutely no way they themselves could work with her, given how much they disliked her.

It is hard to imagine the level of stupidity such a belief requires, but there are plenty of people willing to accept that as fact. Apparently 'Girl dick' has a different mouthfeel, and is often gentle and shy

Yes, I saw how it appeared in the head and shoulders views. But when she stood up in the Tribunal you could see that it was a reasonably elegant dress, quite appropriate for the occasion in my admittedly male (and therefore uninformed) view.

I hope they've decided to go for an early lunch and the private hearing isn't still going on.

I'm not sure they needed it. NC described the hunt for clues. I'm sure any seasoned solicitor would know all the tricks in the book. You'd have to be a doctor with a god complex to claim to be no good with email (BU) or to believe no-one could prove you wrong (KS).

They are reporting very very selectively, leaving out all the ridiculous and evasive replies from witnesses.

I think 'yes' and 'yes it is relevant' are the correct answers.

See this is what happens when a normal person is wrong. You just admit it, say sorry, and move on with your life.

So in other words you have no idea whether DU has a penis or not, so best to stop making unknown, personal claims about other people’s bodies.
