NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #7

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 January 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks. The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton started giving evidence on 6 February.

Those who don't want to share changing rooms with a man are bigoted, uninformed and transphobic!

My experience is that witnesses who think they’re clever/don’t answer the question achieve nothing beyond winding up the panel.

NC: reason that female coll unhappy to find you in CR is obvious - you're male. Some women will expreince your presence as invasion of their privacy.

BU: Why they might be uncomofrtable is up to them. I disagree that I'm male, I disagree that my presence is an invasion of their privacy, but I can't speak to how they feel, you'd have to ask them.

Dr Upton disagrees that Dr Upton is male.

He is not seriously saying what he's saying. But he is, isn't he?

He's trying to de-personalise the situation; thus taking no personal responsibility for his choices and actions.
