What on Earth is this guy going on about? He can’t be this stupid surely.

Author of > 20 books/works on topics that I would agree to be very worthy.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Renton

And, to be fair, DR opposed SWP leadership, siding with women, in the Comrade Delta/Martin Smith affair.

Chrysanthemum5 · 20/05/2022 16:32

DR badly wants to say what he really thinks but is trying to be diplomatic

PrelateChuckles · 20/05/2022 16:32

dworky · 20/05/2022 16:29

Stated that he doesn't understand gender critical thought however he knows gender criticals oppose trans rights.

So he 'knows' something that he's admitted he doesn't understand? Sounds about right.

"Trans rights" is such a meaningless phrase. Specify which rights and you might start understanding.

IloveHolby · 20/05/2022 16:32

Yes @LipbalmOrKnickers Wilfully obtuse. Coming across as very anti women

Mmmnotsure · 20/05/2022 16:33

BC: Men are overwhelmingly the perpetrators of sexual violence, aren't they?

DR: lifts his eyes and has to think about this for quite a bit before he agrees.

dworky · 20/05/2022 16:33

tabbycatstripy · 20/05/2022 16:31

He’s not an expert in GC feminism. Maybe in that case he should listen more.

He knows by osmosis that we're all horrifying bigots

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 20/05/2022 16:33

He's racing ahead and trying to work out the question before Ben has asked it. It's the equivalent of writing an essay without reading the question in an exam.

BarryStir · 20/05/2022 16:33

Glad they are letting him speak, it’s very clear why he is going down this route.

chilling19 · 20/05/2022 16:34

LipbalmOrKnickers · 20/05/2022 16:32

Sorry, not at you Chilling - at the suggestion the tweet means all trans people are sexual offenders.

No apology necessary! I was agreeing with you

tabbycatstripy · 20/05/2022 16:34

Yes, David. Yes it is.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 20/05/2022 16:35

The independent had to publish an apology to FPFW for that article

Lougle · 20/05/2022 16:35

Fair Play for Women mentioned.

katmarie · 20/05/2022 16:35

For someone who's not seen this document he knows an awful lot about the evidence it relies on.

chilling19 · 20/05/2022 16:35

BC - laser focus, breaking it down bit by bit. Stats!

nauticant · 20/05/2022 16:35

FPFW and convicted transgender sex offenders.

foodfiend · 20/05/2022 16:35

This really puts it on the spot. If you find yourself unable to struggling to admit the statements:

  • sexual violence is overwhelmingly committed by men

  • bad men will go to great lengths to access victims

because to do so means your ideological position will crumble, then your ideological position is weak.

Mollyollydolly · 20/05/2022 16:36

We're being told? I daren't type what I think.

Chrysanthemum5 · 20/05/2022 16:37

I feel like DR is being given enough space to show the madness of his arguments

Ameanstreakamilewide · 20/05/2022 16:37

'Lobbying group campaigning as facts'

He just described FPFW that way. 🤨

BarryStir · 20/05/2022 16:37

What on EARTH is this guy on about? Keeps on about an evidence base but is making many statements which have no evidence base. I cannot believe these so-called intelligent people are so bloody dense.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 20/05/2022 16:37

Does he not realise that "Owl's" partisan piece was debunked, by Andrew Gilligan himself on Twitter.

CatsOperatingInGangs · 20/05/2022 16:37

He seems to know a lot about the FOI article by FPFW despite not knowing much about GC feminism.

IDidntKnowItWasAParty · 20/05/2022 16:37

The previous witness, LoHo, and this one, DR, are the first to seem overtly misogynistic. This one in particular.

ickky · 20/05/2022 16:38

It wasn't a survey, it was figures from an FOI from MOJ. He is talking absolute shite.

chilling19 · 20/05/2022 16:38

Whatever he says, he shouldn't have (unlawfully in my view - surely hearsay) reported a colleague's phone call.
