David Renton - I declare that I am a slime bag who recorded my colleague

2fallsfromSSA · 20/05/2022 16:19

I'm walking the dog. Listening on my phone which is about to die. Who is this witness?

chilling19 · 20/05/2022 16:19

I think the judge's sighs are becoming their own language

exwhyzed · 20/05/2022 16:19

That was a surprise. I was half expecting that we would find out on Monday that DR had given his evidence in private.

InvisibleDragon · 20/05/2022 16:19

Thank you nauticant and ickky!

I think previous witnesses have admitted that it was outside their standard complaint procedure that they tweeted that Allison was under investigation. Because the investigation should be confidential and they shouldn't be pre-empting the outcome possibly?

So it seems that LH2 insisting on certain things from an ideological perspective suggests that this was motivated by discrimination against Allison's protected belief, rather than just oversight because of incompetence or being too busy?

IDidntKnowItWasAParty · 20/05/2022 16:20

Next witness:
David Renton - Barrister, Garden Court Chambers
www.gardencourtchambers.co.uk/barristers/david-renton/sao
"David Renton specialises in housing, discrimination and employment law. He acts for vulnerable tenants in disrepair possession hearings, and for employees, principally in cases of ordinary or trade union discrimination.
Before being called to the bar, David was an author and historian and subsequently an official of the academics' and lecturers' union UCU specialising in equality law. He now represents clients who are vulnerable, whether through illness, disability or addiction, and has been on the EHRC's panel of approved counsel."

CatsOperatingInGangs · 20/05/2022 16:20

I’m sending EJ Goodman a very large 🍸
She looks like she could do with one.

2fallsfromSSA · 20/05/2022 16:19

I'm walking the dog. Listening on my phone which is about to die. Who is this witness?

David Renton. Allison's room mate who acted in ways that I would affect to find unbecoming for someone with the benefit of an Eton and Oxford education were it not for his allegiance to the SWP.

Mmmnotsure · 20/05/2022 16:21

IO/RW asleep again. Saying in box that witness hasn't affirmed...

dworky · 20/05/2022 16:21

ClocheEncounter · 20/05/2022 16:10

Only if everybody brings an emergency support Twix!

Very well. Can I respectfully [and I hope you'll agree with me] request an alternative for said Twix, an 'intensively chocolately' Twirl?

nauticant · 20/05/2022 16:21

I don't think it's a good idea to post insults on this thread about witnesses. Reasonable criticisms of their testimony once they've started, yes, insults, not good.

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 20/05/2022 16:21

I don't like him already.

chilling19 · 20/05/2022 16:21

Could you imagine a colleague recording your conversations? Abhorrent.

tabbycatstripy · 20/05/2022 16:23

He’s a very angry man.

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 20/05/2022 16:23

"Unsavoury things were said"

LouiseBelchersBunnyEars · 20/05/2022 16:23

Here we go, off to a flying start, he’s out like a rocket

Mollyollydolly · 20/05/2022 16:23

Here come Uriah Heep.

LipbalmOrKnickers · 20/05/2022 16:23

'unsavoury' . Good grief.

IDidntKnowItWasAParty · 20/05/2022 16:23

DR effectively, 'if I don't like the content of someone else's phone call, then it isn't a private call'

Oh boy, I do not like this witness

chilling19 · 20/05/2022 16:24

Go BC!

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 20/05/2022 16:24

Oh ho. That was nice from Ben.

TheClitterati · 20/05/2022 16:24

Battle of the Beards!

nauticant · 20/05/2022 16:24

I don't think BC is best pleased with the idea of ignoring confidentiality when overhearing colleagues' calls in an office in chambers.

Mollyollydolly · 20/05/2022 16:24

Mackenzie Crook in the film.

Seconded.
