Why would it be unacceptable to criticise lesbians for not wanting to sleep with males and not be coercive?

Helleofabore · 18/05/2022 11:39

There seems to be a 'legal' definition of coerciveness vs what the rest of the population believes.

Do keep going with this BC. This is brilliant discussion.

Appalonia · 18/05/2022 11:39

She sounds as slippery as a politician.

nauticant · 18/05/2022 11:39

This is a shameful part of MS's testimony.

Gabcsika · 18/05/2022 11:39

I don't understand why MS keeps going back to saying Morgan Page is coercive to lesbians when clearly the argument is that the workshop which was ran by said person, encourages other "male-bodied individuals" (in Allison's word) to be coercive to lesbians.

User237845 · 18/05/2022 11:39

MS full of righteous indignation.

NoImAVeronica · 18/05/2022 11:39

Good grief, she walked straight into that!

Queenoftheashes · 18/05/2022 11:40

I’m a woman, Mr Cooper

MsMarvellous · 18/05/2022 11:40

"I'm a woman. Mr Cooper". Such disdain and fury

Ameanstreakamilewide · 18/05/2022 11:40

'Come on. Everyone is entitled to their sexual boundaries, Mr Cooper. I'm a woman'

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 18/05/2022 11:40

'From my own experience "being called a discriminator when you're not is deeply upsetting."'

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/05/2022 11:40

Coercion is widely used to refer to things which aren't violent, and coercive control in the law is often non violent.

ickky · 18/05/2022 11:40

I'm a Woman, MR Cooper!

You don't have to sleep with anyone you don't want to. I'm a woman, Mr Cooper!

IDidntKnowItWasAParty · 18/05/2022 11:40

OMG she just said 'if you're a racist and someone calls you a racist it's not discriminatory' (or words to that effect) - equating lesbians not wanting to have sex with male-bodied people ARE transphobic and calling them that is just a fact, not discrimination or coercion!!!!!! 😳

nauticant · 18/05/2022 11:40

MS: "I'm being oppressed!"

NancyDrawed · 18/05/2022 11:40

MS 'To call someone something they are not is unacceptable'

I know she is referring to calling lesbians transphobic if they won't sleep with a TW, but my mind went straight to TWAW.

My goodness, she is getting cross. By jove, I think she's got it!

Ameanstreakamilewide · 18/05/2022 11:41

'Everyone' just doesn't include young lesbians, though.

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 18/05/2022 11:41

On BC questions, "It's now getting oppressive"

Pyjamagame · 18/05/2022 11:41

Just a reminder as to what Nancy Kelly said last year

""But if you find that when dating, you are writing off entire groups of people, like people of colour, fat people, disabled people or trans people, then it's worth considering how societal prejudices may have shaped your attractions."

NoImAVeronica · 18/05/2022 11:41

This is shocking behaviour from anyone, but from a QC??

GrumpyMenopausalWombWielder · 18/05/2022 11:41

Place mark

PrelateChuckles · 18/05/2022 11:41

Argh, wish I could be watching this.
How many of them now is that who are claiming they were/are "still learning" and can't possibly have been expected to understand the issues until now?

IDidntKnowItWasAParty · 18/05/2022 11:42

MS is an utter disgrace

ickky · 18/05/2022 11:42

Gabcsika · 18/05/2022 11:39

I don't understand why MS keeps going back to saying Morgan Page is coercive to lesbians when clearly the argument is that the workshop which was ran by said person, encourages other "male-bodied individuals" (in Allison's word) to be coercive to lesbians.

Yes this is quite clear, she was training other male bodied people to coerce. Not that Morgan Page was doing it directly to an individual. It is not hard to understand.
