These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost around 45lbs.

I’m maintaining at 9st 2lb but I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

New members … Give it a go; it’s never too late! You'll be pleased you did 😊

My happy scale is now saying my average weight loss is 0.2kg! I hope it kick starts again soon.
Been to the gym, I’m pushing it every time I go. I am much much fitter than I was a month ago, my resting heart beat is down as well.

Onionringswithasideofgravey · 05/09/2025 12:07

X2 PT sessions completed, gym several times this week, no alcohol as yet .. Friday night is a hard one and I REALLY fancy a glass ..but that always leads to the bottle. I am out tomorrow night for a family wedding reception and had planned drinks then, home work outs also done.

I would DIE right now to eat the cake my DH has just brought home and put on the table where I am working ...

FridayNighFeeling · 05/09/2025 13:31

I know why I'm fat! Life is just so stressful and food is my comfort blanket. Yesterday was awful, today much better. I did also limit myself to 2 biscuits and 2 marshmallows yesterday instead of going bonkers. Scales say 12 1/2lbs down in total this morning.

Away for the weekend so lord help me, but it is what it is. There will be 2 service station lunches, an Italian meal and a Premier Inn breakfast Shock

LemonDrizzle23 · 05/09/2025 20:10

@FridayNighFeeling this time last year the Co-op’s salt and vinegar share bag of crisps were known as “sad crisps” in this house 😂 eating feelings is definitely a thing!

Decent day today.
Beat my move ring.
13500 steps
Just over calories I think

Had a random lunch of potatoes, grated cheese and home made guacamole and it was bloody glorious!!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 05/09/2025 21:14

Two not so great days on the calorie front due to being away with work, but home and opted not to have wine!

I didn’t do WOW but weighed yesterday and was a lb down so pleased with that!

Coulddowithanap · 05/09/2025 21:33

SW 191.9
CW 178.6
GW 165 lb

Near enough the same this week. Had a meal out and over on my calories a few days. Back on it for next week.

Skyglimmer · 06/09/2025 07:22

I had to switch to weighing in every two weeks as my weight loss is slowing now. Lost 0.9kg in two weeks so I'm happy with that. I am getting close to goal weight and should be able to make better progress when I start working out again now the kids are back at school.

PostpartumMum · 06/09/2025 09:03

Hi everyone, thanks for the new thread 😊Hope everyone is having a good start to September. I'm excited for cosy evenings in, but currently seriously bummed out that I've lost nothing this week. I've not gained so that's a big plus at least.

DD has been cluster feeding seemingly endlessly and everyone in the house has been ill with some kind of bug/cold. I didn't think I'd been as ravenous and thought I'd done okay and was expecting a decent weight loss but apparently not 😔 I hadn't calorie counted because I'm finding it so hard to find any extra time or capacity to do anything that involves much other than quickly grab the first thing I see, but clearly that's not going to cut it and I need a better plan. I need a better plan anyway because I'm just not getting enough fruits and veggies in and making poor choices health wise. I'm also not getting in any exercise whatsoever - even a walk!

Currently have DS (2) and DD (8w) and feeling snowed under. Feel very lucky to have them both (esp after a miscarriage last autumn) but boy is it busy!

Does anyone have any practical tips for getting in any exercise and calorie counting or just eating healthily while running round after 2 very small children please? I feel like I should be able to figure this out but I'm soooo tired and overstimulated! I know it's early days but I think bf both DS (only once or twice a day now) and DD has sent my appetite sky high and I don't want to gain more weight and feeling this pants about myself and being so inactive is not doing wonders for my mental or physical health!

Well done to everyone on your progress and sending lots of support and well wishes your say! 💐

LemonDrizzle23 · 06/09/2025 10:51

@PostpartumMum definitely give yourself a bit of grace. A week where everyone is breastfeeding and ill, you’re doing well just to be standing!

Can you set up regular online grocery deliveries to get the healthy food to you without leaving the house? Get rid of all junk in the house apart from dark chocolate (Waitrose no.1 75% is amazing). Walk when you’re not trapped under a baby. Salmon, eggs and avocado make me feel gloriously healthy on days when I can’t cope with anything else.

NSV for me today - my BMI has just reached 32, down from 36.

Emmadaily · 06/09/2025 10:58

Hi everyone
Hope you are all well
I'm at SW now waiting for everyone to be weighed in
I have lost half a pound this week
12 and half all together
I have a certificate today

I'm.quite happy with this
Every little loss is a bonus
I enjoy the classes to
Good tips and a laugh amongst ourselves
Will be a while to hit target but that doesn't matter as slowly is better I'm told .
Have a lovely weekend folks
X

HappyLittleTreeFriend · 06/09/2025 11:04

I’m back on this thread after having a lot of success at the start of the year and now after summer having put all the weight I lost back on again and feeling very rubbish about it 🙈🙈🙈 I should never have stopped calorie counting basically and having to face up to the fact that if I do then I’m just going to put weight on again at this time in my life! I basically lost almost a stone and now have put it back on again. Looking to lose it again and maybe a bit more to give me some wriggle room when I adjust to what maintenance looks like. Feeling very unhappy with how I look at the moment and really annoyed at myself for putting weight back on that I’d worked hard to lose, feel really hopeless about it all.

CW: 10st 1lbs (when I weighed myself a couple of weeks ago, possibly higher than that now)
GW: 9st

biscuitcat · 06/09/2025 13:23

Ugh I think I have to chalk this week up as a bit of a disaster and we’re only halfway to Wednesday! I’ve just been snacking and so far have gained weight since last official weigh in (though that was a 3.5lb loss which I think must have been artificially low, so some of the gain is probably just correcting back). I’m exhausted with the kids which isn’t helping, it’s making me crave sugar and salty, fatty things - at least my low-UPF mission means there’s not too much in the house.

My NSV in a dreadful week was not buying a load of chocolate to snack in the car when I had to pop out to grab a last minute ingredient for dinner, which I find is a real weakness.

@PostpartumMum - do be kind to yourself, your youngest is so little! I started properly watching what I eat and consciously making changes when littlest DS was about 3 months and those extra few weeks really did make it more manageable. Having fruit available to snack on is always handy, especially if you chop it/buy pre chopped - but honestly at that age getting through the day is a victory!

Marshmellowbunny · 06/09/2025 19:58

@biscuitcat I read your post and I felt so panicky. Haha. I don't see weeks the same as you do (and that's okay)

I see the week ending on a Sunday and then Mon - Weds as a completely new week! So today I'm like Saturday woo. I'll have fun today and then deal with it on Monday 🤣

It's strange how brains work, isn't it!

WingingIt09 · 06/09/2025 20:05

Had a good week so far but went to pot today. We were at a family gathering yfrom 12 till just now and standard buffet food served. Ate wayyyy too many crisps and dessert. Haven’t even bothered trying to track as it would be impossible. Will get back on it tomorrow and hopefully not too much of an impact on my overall progress

LemonDrizzle23 · 06/09/2025 20:56

Good day today exercise-wise. No real idea of calories!
Smashed my move ring
14,000 steps and an exercise bike ride

Duck curry, prawn crackers and some sweets tonight are a calorie wild card…

Sighthoundsforever · 07/09/2025 01:14

Stepped on the scale last Tuesday and it told me I was 10st 7lb….. stepped on it again on Thursday and it said I was 10st 3lb…… I’m definitely believing it was telling me the truth on Thursday and that tuesday Was a big lie!!!!!
Best of luck everyone, slowly but surely we will all hopefully reach our goals

Determinedloser · 07/09/2025 10:47

A couple of slightly off plan days for me this week with a meal out with friends which included wine on Thursday and a Chinese last night. Shouldn’t do enough damage to massively affect things but I think there will be some water weight hanging around and my deficit will have been smaller than usual so expecting to gain/not lose much over the next few days but will definitely be watching what I do as could easily end up completely losing control now so must pull it back.

On the last week of couch to 5k this week so am excited to soon be doing my own runs rather than what they tell me to do.

@PostpartumMum in terms of exercise I’d just do as much walking with the pram as possible which I know might not be easy with a 2 year old too as they can be at a funny stage with not wanting to sit in a pram/buggy!

biscuitcat · 07/09/2025 12:55

@Marshmellowbunny haha sorry for panicking you! I think I operate two different weeks, proper as well as ‘official’ weigh ins.

Yesterday and today are better eating days luckily - on the menu today is yogurt and strawberries for breakfast, a chicken and avocado sandwich for lunch, and curried parsnip soup for dinner, maybe with paratha.

Tomorrow is DS’s first day at school (how did that happen!), so I’m hoping for a bit more of a routine once he’s in full time from the week after.

FridayNighFeeling · 07/09/2025 15:25

Hi all, weekend away wasn't as much of a disaster as it could have been! Avoided pudding and ate sensibly so hopefully all good.

@PostpartumMum I'd suggest that prepackaged things will be easiest, so either ready made soup where you just heat half a tub and have it with a slice of rye, or some SW ready meals (or other ones where calories not too bad) or even ready cooked chicken and fling half of it into a wrap with some salad from a bag. Or can you do a bit of batch cooking at the weekend while your DP looks after kids or the other way around... but really it's such early days!

WoodlandDragon · 07/09/2025 21:09

Have had a very active weekend which I'm hoping has offset some extra calories - though I didn't go too far over, just more in line with TDEE than at the weight loss level. And in keeping with my new plan I'm tracking everything but looking mostly at averages rather than stressing over one day off plan (or going off plan and just not tracking it ...). But over this week I'm on average 700 calories down per day, so that should be a loss in the end... Hoping I've cracked it and am back on track - will see what the scale says on Wednesday I guess!

In NSV I ran 5k this morning for first time in a while, and got out with the kids for a walk this afternoon. So more active, fewer calories are getting there. Need to get more sleep and I'll be so much better I think. So that's my focus this week, try to drive my average asleep hours (on Fitbit) up by going to bed a few mins earlier each day.

Good luck for the new calendar week everyone!

dayslikethese1 · 08/09/2025 00:30

I've had a dodgy couple weeks with a few social things, family meals out etc. I normally weigh Fridays but was too scared to do it last week. I'm hoping this week I'm back into my food routine and need to cut back on alcohol again. Hoping for a maintain.

FridayNighFeeling · 08/09/2025 13:58

Anyone sharing menu plans?

breakfast: hot choc & pastry Blush
L: home made BNS soup and slice of rye
snack 2 mini celebrations & an orange
Tea: chicken kiev, potatoes, green beans

Tomorrow will be more in control:
B: Fage & berries
S: hot choc
L: omelette (bacon & mushroom)
T: beef stew & broccoli

frostedshreddie · 08/09/2025 14:38

Dropped of the thread for a bit - didn't mean to! Busy few days. Have still been daily movement but diet gone a bit pear shaped. I think need new school routine to settle in as my week looks different now all my kids are at school! I mean it's good I have more time 😁
I think once all settled I will start to do a run/walk on my day off and kids are at school. But yeah it's the calories and diet I need to wrangle back under control!
Not looking forward to WOW this weekm

Hope everyone is doing well!!!

PreetyinPurple · 08/09/2025 15:45

Weight is back up today, it just wobbles up and down the same point! I’m trying so hard at the gym.

Anyway we have been out to the seaside and had fish and chips. I won’t have dinner at least.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 08/09/2025 16:16

Ok few days here. Iffy eating because of DC’s birthday but weight held this morning. Today’s total food was a giant cheese sandwich and a bubble tea. I’m sure my award for healthy eating is in the post.
