These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost around 45lbs.

Currently I’m maintaining at 9st 2lb but I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

@ThrivingIn2025ing would something like popcorn or plain almonds work as a snack?

CarrotVan · 15/08/2025 14:27

If you mix whole nuts, egg white and cinnamon and then bake them it’s a lovely high protein snack with decent crunch

ThrivingIn2025ing · 15/08/2025 14:41

@biscuitcat yoghurt is a good shout, I actually have some in the fridge slowly going out of date. Adding some nuts to it is a good shout @CarrotVan! Glad I asked now!

CarrotVan · 15/08/2025 15:01

They taste quite sweet if you use almonds so fill that need.

Alwayslearning25 · 15/08/2025 16:46

I am really enjoying some naturya berry mix. It was reduced from Holland and Barretts I thought it would more like a seed mix with bits of berries, but berries are whole with seed bits stuck to them, there's cocoa nibs which I've really enjoyed in overnight oats, along with chia seeds and probably a bit too much honey.

Coulddowithanap · 16/08/2025 09:28

I forgot to add my Wednesday weight, small loss this week but it's in the right direction.

SW 191.9
LW 182.3
WOW 181.7

I try not to eat my exercise calories but don't mind if I do slightly over on those days. Usually save those exercise days to have a treat like a freddo or ice cream.

LemonDrizzle23 · 16/08/2025 10:28

Non scale victory this morning. Pulled out some gym tops that I’d bought but never worn, because they clung to everything (and I refused to buy a bigger size). Tried them on and now they skim, not cling! I officially have new gym gear…

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 16/08/2025 12:42

That’s a nice feeling @LemonDrizzle23 !

WearyAuldWumman · 16/08/2025 13:07

Well, the two pounds that I gained is still clinging, but my fat percentage on my Tanita scale has dropped by two percent, suggesting that the weight is water.

PatienceOfEngels · 16/08/2025 13:38

🎉 @LemonDrizzle23 Meanwhile I just took delivery of an XL low impact sports bra as the M I squeezed myself into from my wardrobe was ridiculously hard to get into and out of last week!

Weighed myself this morning - 77kg so no change in the last month. Weighed myself just now...76.5kg. Not quite sure what my scales or my body are doing.

Last night I made greek style marinaded chicken kebabs in the oven with homemade flatbreads, tzatziki and salad. Leftover flatbread and tzatziki for lunch today, strawberry and banana smoothie mid morning and boiled egg/rye toast for breakfast with coffee.

Weather has finally broken a bit and it's below 25 degrees today thank goodness. Spaghetti carbonara with broccoli for dinner tonight. Just about to do yoga, did 5 minute workout this morning and did 5km cycle to run an errand.

Bikechic · 16/08/2025 18:04

Feeling proud of .myself for walking the gauntlet between manchester victoria and picadilli at lunch time and all I bought was a meal deal for approx 350 cal. Hungry now though

BlueOysterCultGroupie · 16/08/2025 18:26

Hi all, I've not been around for a week nearly which we all knows mean one thing - off the rails. Started when I weighed on MOnday morning and it was up slightly, so went into F* it mode Hmm

I think the key is going to be planning - so going to sit down and look at meals that are roughly 500kal, so I've got breakfast, lunch and dinner coming in at around 1500 and still do IF windows around that.

Today was: cereal bar, IKEA fish and chips, magnum, bacon and egg in a WM thin and melon Shock but at least inside of calories.

Alwayslearning25 · 17/08/2025 07:52

I've just done my first c25k. I feel unfit, and my shins hurt towards the end, but generally nice. Cooliah and sunny morning. Since coming home from holiday, weekend I've got back into my 13 hours intermiant fast and lost 1.3kg, a bit each day, but last Sunday weight was the highest ever and the day before my period, but it still feels good to be down on the scales every day. This week I'll log my foods on mfp... maybe.

biscuitcat · 17/08/2025 08:28

God water weight is such a bugger isn’t it - I weigh most days and this morning am a good 700g up from yesterday. I know it isn’t real as I’ve eaten within calories all week but still no fun to see!

We’ve got some new plates and bowls this week and it’s honestly incredible how much of a difference they make to perception of portion size. They’re bigger than our old ones and when I weighed out my yoghurt this morning I was almost disbelieving, it was the same amount as usual but looked about half as much, it would be so easy to hugely overeat.

PreetyinPurple · 17/08/2025 09:09

Went to gym induction Thursday, massive walk Friday and yesterday I had a ‘day off’ least active I have been in weeks. I overate a tiny bit…and…I actually lost weight this morning. Only 0.1kg from my previous lowest but actually moving.
Maybe I need more rest days!

socks1107 · 17/08/2025 09:24

@prettyinpurpleI also had a day off yesterday. I’ve had a stall the last two weeks and was really fed up and angry with the whole thing. So I ate all I wanted yesterday and back to it today

PreetyinPurple · 17/08/2025 09:36

I actually have a 1:1 at the gym so thought I should try and save some energy anyway.

LegoTherapy · 17/08/2025 10:47

Hello, I’m late to the party this month. We are just back from holiday and not having access to my normal diet has played havoc with my digestive system and I’ve gained a couple of pounds. Waitrose delivery very soon and normal
service will hopefully resume. Being with my usual red pepper hummus for lunch has not been good. We did lots of walking still and our accommodation was up a big steep hill. I’ve just checked my Fitbit and I’ve walked 47 miles this week which makes me happy as that’s close to my usual average. I think the gain is a slow gut, not drinking enough water, and lack of usual food. The food choices were rubbish and it made me realise just how restricted my diet is. Ds and dd would only eat macaroni cheese or chips when out. I’d only eat hummus and bread and chips. Seagulls stole our second ice cream of the holiday and we didn’t bother after that!
My weight was 57.4kg this morning. I’m expecting a drop by tomorrow when I’ve had plenty of water, fibre and better sleep.
How is everyone doing?

Fellsbells · 17/08/2025 14:58

I’ve had a week off tracking calories and it hasn’t gone well. I’ve had a fairly lax week with exercise as well so all in all not good. I ate two home made pizzas (fortunately over two days not at once).

Determinedloser · 17/08/2025 22:36

Hope everyone has had a nice weekend.

I’m predicting a slight gain tomorrow. I feel really bloated, I’ve eaten pizza, McDonalds and a curry this weekend! Not enough to make me gain but I think there will be water weight there. Hopefully I can get rid of it by Wednesday though.

Best of luck for another week.

FiveShelties · 17/08/2025 22:53

SW 10st 8.4lbs 4th August
10st 7.2lbs 11th August
10st 5.2lbs 18th August

Two pounds down this week and 3.2 pounds in two weeks. Pleased with that, if only I could be more disciplined Friday evening to Sunday night the result would be much more exciting😁

LegoTherapy · 17/08/2025 23:04

Normal digestive service is returning and as a result I’ve lost 2lbs since this morning 😁 I was in a lot of pain at the start of the week and so bloated. I’m feeling a lot better now.

LnC1234 · 18/08/2025 06:20

Newbie here. Put on the lb recently ( tummy definitely bigger and jeans tighter!) So glad to have the support support on here to start getting it off.
SW 9st 9. Definitely want to get down to 9st by October-lower if I can

Fellsbells · 18/08/2025 07:01

Welcome new joiners.

Confronted the scales this morning and it could have been worse. Still hanging onto the 9s by one lb. That does mean I’ve gained a few lbs recently.

Plan for the week is to stop mindless snacking. Start tracking calories again. Eat within calories, drink more water when hungry. And most importantly, cut out the sugary stuff which has crept back in.

Have a good Monday.

BlueOysterCultGroupie · 18/08/2025 09:12

Happy Monday. I've hopped on the scales and they're down. 8lbs in total - so slow but a downward trend for sure. Got my food planned, now just need to control the snacking.

Have a good week all.
