@FridayNighFeeling I love a menu!

Today for me:

B - Greek yoghurt with strawberries and honey
L - leftover parsnip soup with paratha
D - cheese soufflé (which was a lot more effort to make than I anticipated…) with baguette and salad
Snacks - two homemade hobnobs (so far that’s all, not sure if that will remain the case until bedtime!)

HappyLittleTreeFriend · 08/09/2025 18:54

Feeling a bit better about things yesterday and today, positive mindset!

B - Coffee with oat milk x 2
L - One slice of sourdough, leftover tomato and cannellini bean stew and a fried egg
D - going to have a bowl of vegetable ramen with an egg

I’ve snacked on baby plum tomatoes (which I love) and I might have a small chocolate bar after dinner for a treat, should still come in below my calorie deficit 😊👍🏻

SummerOak · 08/09/2025 20:47

Had a pretty ok weekend, resisted all the snacks! We did have pizza on Sunday which I ate for both lunch and dinner.

Don't think the weight will go down much as I just got my period and can already feel the craving for crisps.

LemonDrizzle23 · 08/09/2025 21:52

City day today, tasty lunch out, but also walked 20,000 steps. Meals since Wednesday have been good, but lots of “end of summer” chocolate / ice cream / cake by the looks of nutracheck 😬 Why does chocolate have so many calories….

Walk and Pilates planned for tomorrow. Meals planned for tomorrow, just need to break out of the summer chocolate habit!

Notagain75 · 08/09/2025 22:07

I have lost 2 stone in the last 6 months. And have half a stone to go to get in the healthy category. I started off in the obese category so I'm very pleased with myself. I don't eat in the morning or after at night, no snacks apart from fruit and have two meals a day and I am moving more.
It has been easier than I thought as I'm not a morning eater anyway and I feel so much better than I did . But it's getting harder to keep going the nearer I get to the target weight!.

PatienceOfEngels · 09/09/2025 06:52

I have just realized that exactly a month ago I weighed 2kg more. I keep think I'm not really losing weight and am scared to set unrealistic goals because it feels like nothing is happening, but 2kg!!!

I know I will feel better if I get myself down to a healthy BMI (still a way to go).
I've been having horrible hot flushes and anxiety recently. On Saturday after pushing 2 bikes up a steep staircase I felt faint and my heart rate went up to 175 (double my resting). I feel like I'm in a vicious cycle of feeling tired and my pelvic floor struggling so then I don't move/exercise, get more stressed and anxious eat more, then feel tired and anxious. Lots going on at home with DC(dreaded football, trying to find new music teacher, SEN assessment etc), DH, elderly FIL, missing my family, work. Now have 2 days off but a tonne to do. I find it hard to switch off!

Anyway, food is going okay though have had more than usual chocolate (dark mint or orange chocolate but still!), ice cream, nuts an cheese, but have only just twigged this morning that I was pre-menstrual when I got my period. How do I let it sneak up on me every month?! Explains why I lost it on Sunday with DC and why I was so shattered Saturday afternoon.

But the freezer is currently very well stocked for easy dinners and lunches. Pumpkin pancakes and spicy carrot and lentil soup for lunches, bolognese, chicken casserole, paprika chicken, meatballs, katsu curry sauce for dinners. So full I can't fit any more in at the moment!

Paprika chicken and rice with green beans for dinner tonight. Pepper/mushroom omelette for lunch.
Going to try and get some yoga in as well.

Will check back in on the thread to catch up!

HappyLittleTreeFriend · 09/09/2025 07:03

Well done @PatienceOfEngels - that’s great going 😊👍🏻

I ended up having a small toffee crisp bar for a treat last night but then couldn’t sleep and had three chocolate Hobnobs 🙈🙈🙈 I stayed under my calorie count just about though so not too bad in the end!

B - Coffee and oat milk plus a cake snack at a coffee morning I need to attend
L - Soup
D - Small portion of chilli and I will not have rice with it to keep down the cals!

Aiming for no snacks/treats this evening, lots of herbal tea will be needed 😊

TheWayTheLightFalls · 09/09/2025 07:08

@PatienceOfEngels imagine 2kg in blocks of butter. It’s a lot!

All ok here. Still fluctuating, but my low has moved down again to 73.4. I think I am still losing just verrrry slllloooowly.

PatienceOfEngels · 09/09/2025 07:10

@SummerOak I always get cravings before my period (and tiredness and very short-tempered) but I always forget it's coming and then get annoyed with myself for eating rubbish!

@Notagain75 well done - great progress!

@HappyLittleTreeFriend your day of meals sounds lovely.

@frostedshreddie I'm still struggling to get back into a routine and have been back a month. My change of day off and DC extra-curricular have thrown me off a bit. I'm not used to working on Fridays and shattered but the time lunchtime rolls around!

@TheWayTheLightFalls 🎖here's your medal 😅

@WoodlandDragon more sleep sounds like an excellent goal!

Great NSV @LemonDrizzle23 ! My BMI's dropping slowly.

@PostpartumMum when mine were that age I found it impossible to do proper exercise. Also physically my body wasn't ready (I was a runner in my 30s and restarted when DC1 was 3 months but with DC2 my pelvis needed more time to recover so 6 months). Even yoga and exercise videos at home were impossible because one of the kids would need me. I'd just focus on walking (at toddler's pace if necessary!) and getting outside for fresh air. And sleep!

Onionringswithasideofgravey · 09/09/2025 07:18

I've done the gym every day, twice a day with a PT. No alcholol, healthy eating.. and I've lost nothing. No cals lost, no reduction in BMI, body fat. Its only been a week but I'm already thinking f**k this. I'm trying to give it all initially until xmas

Argh. I’m sorry. I need to say – I have never found exercise to be helpful for weight loss. Ever. It’s all about reducing calories in my experience. If I were you, especially as you’re getting frustrated, I would drop all the exercise calculate your TDEE, And Try to get 500 cal a day under it. Then reassess. Obviously that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t exercise or that exercise isn’t great for you, but it looks like you’re going to get frustrated if you carry on the way you’re going.

Marshmellowbunny · 09/09/2025 07:44

Morning everyone,
I hope your September is going well.

I've just (I can't believe it's taken me so long to realise 😂🙈) that when I don't eat as much in the day, I end up having a full scale emotional meltdown during the evening (at least I managed to avoid drinking).

Weighed myself this morning and I'm down a bit again. 3 pounds to lose in just under 2 weeks so that I'm at my GW when I go on holiday! I feel so down about it and don't think I'll get there but I'll be close at least! I am going all inclusive and I don't want worrying about what I weigh to ruin it 🥲 oh dear!

Marshmellowbunny · 09/09/2025 07:48

@HappyLittleTreeFriend that used to be what I did! Chocolate argh. It tastes so good though!

I've found having a galaxy hot chocolate with water helps with the cravings and keeps me at my calories. Idk if that's something that would work for you?

I've tried other hot chocolates but they're not quite the same. Hmmm.

PatienceOfEngels · 09/09/2025 07:51

Thanks @HappyLittleTreeFriend !

@TheWayTheLightFalls I just picked up a 2kg bag of rice out of the cupboard - can't believe I was carrying that round with me a month ago! Motivation to keep going.

My mission today is to try and clean my kitchen as we've had a fruit fly infestation that just keeps on going, even when the fruit is long gone. Chucking it down outside so not feeling guilty about not going for a walk. Want to feel like I've achieved something before I sit down for a rest.

PatienceOfEngels · 09/09/2025 07:56

@Onionringswithasideofgravey literally the first 2 weeks after I got back from holiday I was eating healthily, no junk, no snacks, no evening eating, gentle movement and I lost nothing! I remember posting on here and saying fuck it that weekend. But only then did I lose a kilo, then the second one has come off in increments of 0.2/0.3kg per week. Stick it out, especially with healthy eating.

biscuitcat · 09/09/2025 08:07

@PatienceOfEngels yes 2kg is loads! I always wonder why I feel better on such an apparently little amount of weight loss but as you say, imagining carrying it around all day it suddenly becomes very apparent.

I’m hoping to do the first couch to 5k run today - to be honest I’m not feeling highly motivated, but DH will be looking after the kids while I do it so a little bit of child free time is a stronger incentive than the exercise!

Menu today is:

B - toast with a fancy watermelon preserve I have (and that no one else in the family is allowed to share!)
L - Itsu dumplings with rice and veg
D - carrot soup with bread

My September goal is 4.5lbs away and there are three weeks, so I think that should hopefully be doable but I’ll not worry too much if I don’t quite make it.

I’ve been reading a bit about how having periods of eating maintenance calories during weight loss tends to make it more sustainable in the long run, both for motivational reasons and as it can stop your metabolism slowing down in the same way, so wondering about trying that at some point and seeing how I go. Sadly my losing calories are going to drop over the next few months as littlest DS starts solids so his milk feeds will start reducing.

FridayNighFeeling · 09/09/2025 09:24

Thanks to everyone sharing your menus.

I've hopped on the scales this morning and pretty much STS from last WI, will see again on Thursday or Friday what's what. Just going to keep doing my best, consistency is key!

TealSloth · 09/09/2025 09:54

Hi ladies. Ive had a tough start to September. Not being able to get in routine of calorie count due to running around school runs and new routine. Calories and what am eating isn't my first priority at the minute. Hoping this month I get into new routine plus control my eating. Ive been very busy with my both girls. Plus to except my eldest has started high school. Still traying to get use to everything am hoping by end of September my intake is under control and am loosing some pounds. Plus get use to the new routine of school runs.
Wish me luck ladies I need it. Its been a tough start to the month.

@TealSloth Hope things get easier soon for you.

In my frustration I have just scoffed x2 fun size twix bars. I did a spin class this morning which also had chest press ups and various arm weights, all while on the bike.

Ive tried to lay off all junk. My stress is out of roof

LemonDrizzle23 · 09/09/2025 13:48

Well in the name of getting back into routine in September, I weighed the cheese I’d grated for lunch. Was only aiming for about 30g and had easily grated double that! Weighing stuff is definitely a useful exercise.

Onionringswithasideofgravey · 09/09/2025 14:31

3 mini twix's
a mint club bar
2 tunnocks

have I ruined a weeks worth of twice a day gym work and healthy eating ?

I switched to weighing in every two weeks. I have a really low loss one week then followed by a good one but the week where I lose nothing/only a tiny bit was getting me down. Now it averages out every two weeks.
