We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost around 45lbs.

I’m maintaining at 9st 2lb but I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

PreetyinPurple · 24/09/2025 08:56

Forgot to weigh! Oops

biscuitcat · 24/09/2025 09:08

Stayed the same this week, which is unsurprising given how badly I’ve stress eaten - but annoying as I was 2lb down a couple of days ago!

My aim for the next week is also to stay the same as there are some birthday celebration meals which I want to enjoy properly, and then hopefully on it again for October as September has proved to be a bit of a write off… but I’m still 2.5lbs lower than I was a month ago and over time that will add up.

Menu today is:

B: banana
L: scrambled eggs with ham, cheese and veg
D: Chinese takeaway (😳) - the aim of which is to eat slowly and mindfully so I fully enjoy it and stop before I’m overfull!

Onionringswithasideofgravey · 24/09/2025 09:51

I'm now 24 days into a PT every day, sometimes twice a day, significantly less booze (only at weekends and even then I have cut it down and only drink if I go out), healthy eating (baked fish & meats/eggs/green veg & salad), I've literally had the random odd biscuit here and there as a treat, upped my water .. and I have lost about 2lbs. F**K this shit.

Still in my size 16 jeans (I am usually a 14, aiming for a 10-12), I've not dare try on my size 14s as that could push me over the edge if they are still tight/cant get them on. I could have lost inches but I have not been measuring myself. I don't feel like look any different

I was up on the scales this morning.

This is BEYOND depressing. The next step will be to start significantly reducing food to a stupidly small amount a day. A woman at work did that and lost 4 stone. She only ate half a fish finger for dinner.

Determinedloser · 24/09/2025 12:30

Just wanted to share this in case it helps anyone. It’s upsetting to read people frustrated by gains or weighing weekly and being upset by how much they have lost, weighing after a night out/large meal and feeling downhearted by the gain or doing a big workout and expecting a loss but not getting one.

This is how up and down I am every day. I weigh before I eat or drink anything and the bathroom scales don’t move so it’s extremely consistent from that point of view. My starting weight at the end of July was 11 stone so I’m going down but just taking the scenic route! I stick to my calories over 90% of the days (not even an average of one day over cals per week), run every second day and it is working, it’s just being being patient, not throwing in the towel or being upset if you see a gain because chances are it’s water weight if you know you’ve been consistent. Tracking calories religiously really is so important IMO and don’t try and rely on exercise for a calorie deficit, it’s not enough.

Sorry if this post sounds patronising, it’s supposed to be supportive it’s just hard to read some of the posts.

WearyAuldWumman · 24/09/2025 12:35

.5 of a pound down. Now 14st 2lbs, which was my goal on the NHS app.

Still trying to get down to my interim goal of 14 stone. The app seems to think that I should be able to lose 10 lbs in a 12 week period, but it's going much slower than that for me.

Currently exercising and aiming to stick to 1400 calories a day, but I'm aware that I only seem to lose when I stick to 1000. TBH, I find the 1000 really difficult, so I'm keeping to the 1400 and concentrating on fitness for now. [ETA I'm 5ft 9, with a BMI of 29.1, according to the NHS app.]

I'm finding my weekly Stretch class a lot of fun and I'm astonished that I'm managing most things. I genuinely thought that it would be impossible for me to gain flexibility at my age.

Today I have my Senior Flex class - mainly weights, some cardio and some stretching - and the Active for Health class, which consists of an individual programme.

I'm getting a wee bit better at speaking to other people at the gym now and discovering that other women my age are also concentrating on stretching and lifting weights for the same reason - a desire to maintain mobility.

WearyAuldWumman · 24/09/2025 12:42

Re: Exercise

I think that people are mentioning that because we're aiming to maintain and increase muscle and also because most of the online calculators do tailor their deficits depending on how much exercise you do.

However, I've only come across one that also takes into consideration whether or not your job (or lack of it in my pensioned state) is sedentary.

It's frustrating that I'm making very slow progress, but 'twas ever thus with me. It took me about 20 yrs to put all the weight on, so I'm not going to lose it in a day.

When I was still working it was a bit easier to at least maintain weight because I was on my feet all day.

Fellsbells · 24/09/2025 17:34

For me exercise is good for my health, strength and my mind, but it has never helped me lose weight. I think consistent running helped me maintain a more even weight this year, but the only thing that has really got the weight down is calorie restriction. Either by choice or ill health.

FridayNighFeeling · 24/09/2025 17:51

I agree re weight fluctuations. Need to just keep plodding on... mid week last week I was 14 1/2lbs down, then a big weekend meant on Monday I was 12 3/4 down, Tuesday I was 13 3/4 down and didn't manage to hop on the scales, but will do tomorrow. If I'd gone into sod it mode, I'd loose that progress. Just because I had a salty meal/lots of carbs!

Well done everyone and do try and have a lovely holiday @socks1107

biscuitcat · 24/09/2025 18:19

Really useful point about weight fluctuations - I find weighing most days helpful for that, as each one is less of a big deal for me than it would be if I only weighed weekly. Also helpful to see how certain foods impact it more than others - so tomorrow for example I’m expecting to see a bit of a jump from a salty dinner!

It doesn’t sound patronising. It is all that you say however sometimes we need to vent or rage at the slowness or the bump up or whatever that is. After 9 months of calorie counting I definitely thought I’d have lost more so venting that here helps me get that off my mind before another day of logging everything I eat to lose 1/2lb.

for me these threads have kept me moving all year and that’s the ups and the downs

Last weeks gain must have been a weird little blip and am pleased it’s back under what it was before the blip. Will continue with what I’ve been doing and reading along with you all.

LemonDrizzle23 · 24/09/2025 20:19

Well the earrings I bought for when I reach 14st have arrived. Now I just have to officially reach 14 st 😂 0.04lbs to go…

Determinedloser · 25/09/2025 09:24

Glad my post was taken as it was intended. We all do such a good job of supporting each other in here.

@LemonDrizzle23 you’ll have that tiny amount off in no time!

I’m 0.2oz off the lightest weight I have recorded in my scales which was July last year. I am sure I should have other weights recorded somewhere to compare to.

Onionringswithasideofgravey · 25/09/2025 10:30

I'm 5.6lbs down from 1 Sept, 0.7% fat loss, 0.9BMI reduction. I would have expected a lot more after being at the gym every day in Sept and healthy eating ... if I can get to 7lbs/half a stone down by the end of Sept then I'll take that as my first win.

Keep going everyone - you've got this

socks1107 · 25/09/2025 12:26

I went up again today, steady increase since Monday, same weight range for four weeks now. I’ve lost 5lb in ten weeks and my holiday is on Saturday.
hopping a refeed will do me some good but the advice everywhere is so conflicting. Eat more, eat less, don’t do cardio etc etc. feeling a bit stressed out by it all ready for a week off my weighing scales.
Did an online gp form and they want to see my after my holiday so hoping for a bit of support in the last 21lbs

WearyAuldWumman · 25/09/2025 12:27

Tried the Musical Theatre Fitness Class at the centre today. Certainly good for cardio.

Managed some of the steps, but not necessarily in the right order…

Mine does that! I’ve been going to clubbercise and I hate the music but it’s a good workout.

weight crept down 0.1kg, still not back the lowest weight I was a month ago. Been to the gym and I do feel smaller again. I’m going to ask for a review to add more weights in.

Medee · 26/09/2025 07:34

My last weigh in is put one pound back on, so still a stone down overall. I'm finding it harder to fit in CV exercise at the moment,so I think will switch my thinking to home based core and weight exercises and maintain food wise, at least through winter.

LemonDrizzle23 · 26/09/2025 07:52

Well I hit exactly 14st this morning, so the earrings are in! I can’t believe it wouldn’t give me a 13 st 13.9 or something out of pity 😂 But I’m nearly there.

biscuitcat · 26/09/2025 09:50

Congratulations @LemonDrizzle23! I bet they look and feel amazing!

I’m two out of three celebration meals down and am about 100g down. The rest of the week I’ll be eating at or slightly above maintenance on one day then (if all goes to plan!) in deficit the other four days until Wednesday, so I’m hopeful of seeing a small loss, which would be a nice end to the month.

Today’s menu:

B - Greek yoghurt with strawberries and honey
L - tbc, either scrambled eggs or crackers with chicken
D - sticky Asian style chicken with rice and veg

I’ve been buying the low fat mozzarella balls recently for a snack, usually with some pickled veg as I’m a fiend for vinegar, as they’re high in protein, fairly low calorie (about 200 for the whole ball), and delicious, as well as not being UPF.

FridayNighFeeling · 26/09/2025 13:23

Well done all, there's some good stuff going on.

I'm now back to 1 stone off after birthday celebrations and period. Hoping to build on that and get to 2 stone around Christmas - but at the moment I just feel like snuggling up with hot chocolate sigh

Left over chilli and rice for lunch and a bun with pulled pork, coleslaw and sweet potato fries for dinner Smile

In quite a bit of pain with back/hip at the moment. Does anyone have experience of physio over osteopath? I'm drawn to to the all female osteo - both v. expensive so don't want to get it wrong!
