⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️

It’s HOT HOT HOT!

It’s never too late to make a change, to make a difference and feel confident in your body. To reach optimum health and vitality we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great! Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost around 45lbs.

Currently I’m maintaining at 9st 2lb but I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

New members … Give it a go; it’s never too late! You'll be pleased you did 😊

@LemograssLollipop I think a good starting point is working out an accurate picture of how many calories you need a day. There is a free TDEE calculator online.

Then I would accurately track your calories for a week to give you a picture of what you’re eating. You can use nutricheck for 7 days for free without signing up or myfitnesspal is free with ads. Even if you don’t use it long term I think it’s helpful. We have been conditioned by food manufacturers, media and advertising to consume bigger portions of calorie dense food. Actually seeing the numbers is really helpful to recalibrate and see how much we need a day.

Happy August Everyone ☀️
Welcome newbies 😃
9lb loss is awesome @Coulddowithanap

My goal for August is to get properly into the 9s.
I think I got lucky yesterday with my weigh in being 9 st 13.6 as checked again today and back to 10 st 0.2 so I am definitely teetering on the edge but up and down.
August is birthday month for us so lots planned that might hinder progress. So some extra determination is needed 🤩
I'm going to continue with IF, 16:8 but I am also going to start tracking calories again within my eating window as I fear I may have relied on the IF too much and some days eaten still too many calories. Also trying to continue with the workouts, now kids are off school I do find this easier.

Well done everyone 🥰

biscuitcat · 01/08/2025 10:21

Happy August all!

My aim this month is to get down into the 80s kg wise, which is about 7lbs and I think should be doable. I went a little off track the past couple of weeks so planning my meals more carefully will be important. Luckily I do all the meal planning for the family so everyone just eats what I make! In September I’ll be 6 months post partum so I think I’ll then start couch to 5k again, with dog walks and wrangling toddlers to tide me over until then. Pregnancy did a number on my joint stability so I’m really not keen to risk injuring myself.

@LemograssLollipop have you tried asking Chat GPT? If you describe you usual patterns, what does and doesn’t work etc, and ask for a plan that will work for you it can come up with some quite good stuff. I’ve found it useful for filling snack ideas too.

PreetyinPurple · 01/08/2025 10:26

So no change really because I’ve not been able to work out. The weight doesn’t shift for me otherwise.
Debating whether I can go for a walk later to try and get moving again after being unwell, I do still feel tired though. So unfair.

PatienceOfEngels · 01/08/2025 10:49

My yoga practice today was a short one called 'Be Kind' (to myself!) so off on a good start on the action happiness calendar 😊

LemonDrizzle23 · 01/08/2025 10:51

First weigh in of August and I’m starting at 14 st 3. School holidays are always a challenge for me weight-wise, and we are so busy this summer!

By first WOW of September, I want to see a 13 on the scale. That’s my goal.

Determinedloser · 01/08/2025 22:09

Checking in for August after joining Julys thread on the last day Blush

SW 11 stone (30/07/2025)
CW 10 stone 12.4
GW 10 stone

Good luck for August everyone!!

Jecstar · 02/08/2025 08:53

Hi all, I am more of a lurker than a poster but in the spirit of it being first of the month and a fresh start I thought I’d say hi.

Starting a new job in Nov which is much more people facing and I’d love to feel more confident in myself by losing some weight. I’m short - 5’3 and have a dodgy thyroid which I feel is stacked against me. Will be calorie counting and possibly IF alongside it. Have tracked my calories and have booked a swim today.

Current weight is 13st 7 and I’d love to have lost a pound a week in August.

Skyglimmer · 02/08/2025 08:54

Checking in again. Went of the threads the last few months and dread to think what weight I have put on. Going to weigh myself on Monday and get back on it.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 02/08/2025 09:00

Welcome @Jecstar , @Skyglimmer !

Still on holiday and in a pattern of skipping breakfast - it's something like 14:10 or maybe a little more than 14. Also much more walking than usual - but also many more pastries, scnitzels etc! Let's see.

PreetyinPurple · 02/08/2025 10:02

Checking in, weight is starting to creep back down to where it was last Saturday.
I went for a short walk yesterday and after a week of no activity it was really hard. Will try again today, I don’t think I can do anything harder sadly.

Fellsbells · 02/08/2025 11:27

Welcome new folk.

It is criminal how quickly weight goes on compared to how slow it comes off. Two days of going just slightly over and one piece of pizza and I’ve gone up a lb. (I know it isn’t fat, but fml it’s annoying)

I’ve done a 5km this morning and haven’t eaten yet so today should balance it out.

Have a good weekend everyone.

socks1107 · 02/08/2025 11:29

I had a Chinese yesterday, weighed it all out and lost a lb. Weights work out today, nice walk and a few g&ts all calorie counted

frostedshreddie · 02/08/2025 11:31

Yesterday logged on MFP was around 1350 calories so that's a good start back with CC.

Today's I have done a 20 minute Cat Meffan full body stretch this morning which was lovely, I am a bit wobbly as out of practice 😆 and aiming for 1400-1500 calories.

Hope everyone has a lovely Saturday!

FunMum2019 · 02/08/2025 16:58

Jointing for the first time! Started 16:8 yesterday, hoping to stick to it all August…..

LittleCarrot12 · 02/08/2025 17:35

So finally weighed myself today.
Shocked I am 12 stone 8 lbs. I was 10 stone 2 last time I weighed myself a few years ago . I knew I had put on weight but thought around 11 stone 7.

Been in CD all week but feel quite depressed now I’ve further to go.

BlueOysterCultGroupie · 02/08/2025 18:15

Hi all and welcome to the newbies and the returners.

Just want to set an intentions for the month:
IF: roughly 16/8, but will vary occasionally
Move more - walking out and about, yoga, HIIT - just get going
Learn more about nutrition - not really had any idea how many calories things contained well fooling myself really and just learning about protein content etc too, but I'm a decent cook so will be trying some new recipes too

Look forward to WOW

Determinedloser · 03/08/2025 00:09

Successful day here, ending the day within my calories - even managing a decent treat of a Krispy Kreme donut.

Hope everyone had a lovely Saturday.

PatienceOfEngels · 03/08/2025 09:22

Okay, ready to do this! Got back from holiday yesterday feeling run down, bloated and not my best. Have struggled with feeling unfit and hot flushes the last few weeks. Went straight out for a veggie packed grocery shop (didn't buy any UPF snacks - 50% of my trolley was fruit and veg 💪) and made a spicy Chicken Bhuna for dinner (Hairy Dieter's recipe, just replaced the green pepper with a large courgette). Was sensible with my rice portion - one scoop only - and put away a family portion of curry in the freezer for another day.

Weighed myself this morning and 76.8kg so although I put on 0.8kg over the whole of July I actually lost 0.2kg on holiday. Was convinced I'd put on a tonne of weight as felt so terrible the second week so this shows me it's more about what's happening in my head than what is actually happening in my body. Although, didn't walk as much the second week so this may have had some effect.

Goals:

SW (starting today!!!) 76.8kg (was 77kg when I joined these threads in October 2022 after a high of 79kg a few months before. Have got down as far as 69kg, mostly hovering between 70 and 73 kg the last 2 years).

GW: 68kg (for a healthy BMI) and eventually 65kg.

This month - I would love to lose 1kg to get me started.

Realistically I have time the next 2 weeks before I go back to work to put some good habits into practice and make a dent in my weight before it's back to work. Stress and anxiety cause me issues with both emotional eating and pelvic pain (which then impacts movement) so focusing on my overall well-being and not just food is really important.

-yoga everyday (am currently doing Yoga with Adriene True and will switch to Breath when this one is done)
-start my day with Dr Chatterjee's 3 Ms - Movement (5 minute kitchen workout while the kettle's boiling), Mind (Journal - will pick out a new notebook today) and meditation (Just going to start with 2 minutes breath work - maybe sitting outside in the garden, have the Calm app on my phone, or with my first cup of coffee)
-3 meals and no snacks. If I'm actually hungry then fruit or veg.
-keep eating windows to 12 hours. No evening eating in front of the TV!
-coffee with breakfast and after that herbal tea or water
-get outside every day
-reduce my phone use (especially in the evening and first thing in the morning)
-stay alcohol free (19 months and counting)
-get 10,000 steps in everyday
-cut UPF (bread!) as much as possible and focus on whole foods and homemade meals
-sensible carb portions with dinner
-pelvic floor relaxation exercises everyday
-add in 2 exercise videos a week for cardio/strength. (I may go back to an old favorite - 30 day Shred - but no way I'm doing it everyday!)

Today:
-boiled egg and 1x wholemeal toast with butter, 2 small cups coffee with milk
-lunch?? Maybe some lentil soup out of the freezer (need to defrost it this week)
-dinner - thought maybe chicken in a leek, mushroom and bacon sauce (pie filling without the pastry!) with green beans and a small baked potato

-yoga later
-going to spend the day taming the garden so that should help me get my steps and fresh air in.

Happy Sunday everyone!

PreetyinPurple · 03/08/2025 09:30

CW: 85.8kg
SW: 89kg
GW: around 70kg

I’m back down to when I was a week ago, I’ve definitely been bloated all week.
I was looking through my weight history I am fairly annoyed with myself I was 68kg in 2020 and back in the 80s in 2021. I put it all on fast, bloody lockdown (and wine!).

Fellsbells · 03/08/2025 10:47

@PreetyinPurple Lockdown seriously messed many of us up in more ways than one.

@PatienceOfEngels good to see you back and good luck with your plan.

I’m up a smidge today again, must be hormones/water/inflammation. Just got to ride it out and not get focused on the numbers. Keep eating well, moving and it will pay off eventually. I need to not lose the plot and fall into the biscuit tin.

BlueOysterCultGroupie · 03/08/2025 13:38

Welcome back and good luck for the week ahead all

I've now come down 1% on BMI 7.5lbs in so I feel like I'm making progress. Off to fit in a quick workout while I'm home alone - an impossible in the school holidays really!

socks1107 · 03/08/2025 13:57

Morning everyone! So today’s weigh in was 600grams away from the goal I set in January - I’m so pleased: will set a new hopefully this week for end of September.

todays eating is good and I’m off a for a swim in a bit. Hope everyone has lovely Sundays xx

orangetree81 · 03/08/2025 14:05

Thanks @TheRealHousewifeI’m going to join the thread and hope it helps. I was doing so well
leading up to my holiday at the end of June but have been terrible since and have put it all back on! So I need to get organised and focused on healthiness. I will be intermittent fasting, exercise 4 times a week with a daily walk and keeping to my calorie deficit. Feeling motivated so thank you!

biscuitcat · 03/08/2025 14:46

@PatienceOfEngels those are great goals! Can I ask, what impact do you find for the yoga? Does it make a difference physically or is it more of a mental health benefit?

Also if you’re after a good non-UPF bread, Jason’s sourdough is fantastic! More expensive than Hovis/supermarket own, but whereas I can go through slice after slice of those breads, I find Jason’s really satisfying and filling.
